The sound quality is garbage, there's no audio-in, and it's picture quality is ok. It has INSANE zoom.

Anyway, the performance is very close, BUT best result are with manual settings and most users just don't know anything about that. When they hear I use only Manual Focus on my D5000 to film something, most of them say that is impossible. Well, it only has MF :D I'm starting to like more and more DSLRs as movie makers.

The ones they have on HSN is the GZ-MG630 they also have a 60 GB HD compared to 30 GB on the one in this clip.

So if you got this exact same one you can't compare the price to the one on HSN.

Also I wouldn't brag to much about getting this one for $269, they have alot of them on Ebay for $229 with free shipping.

u could get a light seperately but not for this camera. u can get a handle,it fits where the tripod goes. look up camera handles on google. and if u get a gz-mg330 model u can use a 30.5 stepup ring and 0.43mm fisheye. im getting this camera for my bday so im researchin a lot. message me for links to the fisheye and stepup ring site

Plug in your USB cable to your PC and camcorder, and then a new disk will appear in My Computer. Go in to the new disk and under one of the folders is a folder called "Streaming", your movies are in there, you can upload your vids from there to youtube etc

Nice video, just want to clear up some things, although USB 2.0 is capable of 480mbps, the camcorders HDD is not near capable of that speed nor a 5400 or even 7200rpm computer HDD. Also, if optical zoom is all your interested in, Sony has camcorders that go up to 60x optical zoom, just a tip though =)

i desktop hard drive is capable of 480 mpbs easily most modern drives at 7200 rpm can sustain 75 MBps that is 600 mbps

the HDD in the everio is about 10 MBps or 80 mbps

I have a 5400rpm HDD in my notebook and it sustains around 50MBps or 400mpbs I should have done the maths to check if 7200rpm drives are capable of it, sorry, thanks for clearing that up! Although it still holds true that the cameras HDD is not capable of 480mbps, unless someone can prove me wrong again lol. Seriously though, thanks for that, I was giving misleading info, not good.

JVC sucks! I bought a JVC HD 300A and it is garbage. You have to have a separate hard drive or DVD burner to archive your shots and, in my case the HD USB cable was not in the brand new unopened box! To make matters worse my $200- cash back offer was not honored and there is no way to contact them locally - try and call these grubs on the phone and you have to send a snail mail complaint to a post office box in a Sydney slum! Which they don't reply to! JVC should stand for Just Very Crummy!

I dont know why people complain and claim you have to convert it.. you dont.

It saves the files in MPG format. The thing is, it NAMES them as a .MOD file. All you have to do when you get it into your computer is RENAME the file with the .MPG extension, and its ready to be used in any way you wish

I see people all the time saying you have to convert. Nope, you dont. Just rename the file as "XXXXXX.MPG"
