Rinus Wessels

  • The art of fuga....

  • Wow. I've never heard it played this way before.

But having heard it, I now assert boldly: The Germans did not build such powerful organs in the baroque merely to use 8' flutes, as many of the "Historically Informed" recordings nowadays do. Of course, often they are just using positive organs (rather than the great organ) to make recording easier.

  • Stupenda interpretazione!

  • Great music and great performers!

I performed other Haednel's Concerto arranged for organ solo by M.Dupre.

    Welcome to my channel!

  • " Beautiful!...Wonderful...Extraordinary: G. F. Händel & Karl Richter..."

  • I love the orchestral sound but what's up with the Virgil Fox FFF blastissimo registration in the Tutti sections? A simple plenum would suffice in this music, I would think.

  • holy crap he is conducting and playing the organ at the same time! that is really awesome. off topic, i also want to ask why does it say robotech in the title?

  • Stupid question... Why does it say robotech in the title?

  • I definitely agree! I think the performance here is superb! Thank you robotech3!

  • richter was a great (maybee the greatest) bach player. but here, it's a big mistake. heandel "was not" german (his music wasn't) and it can't be play as Bach's music.. horrible !!!!

  • @luisconductor I am pretty sure that Handel was German...

  • He was most definitely German. Georg Freidrich Handel, born Halle (Saxony-Anhalt) 1685, Kappellmeister to the Elector of Hanover 1710, moved to London and subsequently employed by the Elector who was also by 1714 King of Great Britain and Ireland. You might not like his music but he was most definitely German - and so was the King, who could not speak a word of English!

  • My favourite this piece.I have heard it about 20 times-fantastic-. Richter is an very good organist.

  • Unfortunately the organ sounds horrible -.-*

    typical "metallic" 70s sound...

  • @DAOFB It's approximately the 'correct' sound though, as this is a Neo-Baroque organ reminiscent of the style of the 18th Century. Admittedly there were variations in the interpretation of the 'Orgelbewegung' movement but you need the clear principals, sharp mixtures and correctly scaled mutations to get the right effect. No point in producing an authentic rendition of this work with a late-nineteenth century Romantic instrument I'm afraid.

  • one of the few times I've seen him use sheet music - must've run out of space in his brain

  • 3.14 min - 3.25 min gives me shivers.

  • omg i love how many trills there are in Baroque music lol

  • K. Richter, one of the very best.

  • ☆

  • Isn't it played at the "Grosser Saal" Mozarteum Saltzburg?

  • Nagy mester jatsza a mindenidok legnagyobb mesterenek csodalatos szerzemenyet.

  • Anyone else think 0:19-0:22 is slightly redolent of Brandenburg concerto no. 5?

Karl Richter'in de ruhu şad olsun.

  • GRANDE MAESTRO...................

  • Where is this recorded?

  • The art of music. Wow.

  • What number in HWV has this concerto?

  • @vanya2309 This is HWV 289

  • Conducting AND playing, what can't maestro Richter do?

  • Walk on water.

  • @mahler151 sadly.. work with Bach himself :(

  • @mahler151 smile!

  • Upea, hieno, uskomaton! Amazing! Divine!

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso !!!

  • bravissimo!!!

  • Es un felicisimo hallazgo.¡Gracias por ponerlo!.

  • bellissima lettura

  • His early death was a great loss. One of the greatest musicians of all time, I feel.

  • Age of 55 is not so early, it is a bit

  • 55 is very young, this is the 21st century, dont let his music take you back in time that far!!!

  • Ho my god this is excellent

    Karl richter is the best

  • its sad he is already dead Great Instrumentalist a good role model in Keyboard music

  • wonderful

  • can you get this on DVD? let me know

  • Played with majesty! Most amazing performance ever!

  • wow i didn't know this piece...

  • As always - Karl Richter 4 Ever! Love from Norway.

  • WUNDERBAR! WONDERFUL!

  • Wonderful! just Wonderful!

  • Great conductor & great performance & super organist Karl Richter god bless he's soul this work played by Karl before 10 years he's died.

  • germany? that's the great hall of Mozarteum, in salzburg (austria), isn't it? however, that's excellent!

  • Germany, Austria. Same difference.

  • Wo wurde das aufgenommen?

  • I agree Karl Richter is an excellent organist !

  • @igh85 excellente? he is a MAESTRO

  • Richter ist the best ! He is like a machine - 100 %

  • His is not like a machine !!

  • ok ds1868 let's say it is an old performance..

But the way you talk about germans and their music... I hope for you, you are a german then it is very normal to be so arrogant and nationalistic..

  • I'm a German - my father lived with "Karli" in the neighborhood. He often went to the Richters and he was deeply impressed, how "Karli" played the piano. After 2nd world-war they lost track of themselves. In the 70ties, he went to a concert of Richter - after the concert he approached him: "Karli, do you remember, we were friends when we were kids" Richter: "Tut mir leid, ich kenne SIE nicht" (I'm sorry, I don't know who you are). He was a VIP and didn't want to have contact to "normal" people.

  • that't an interesting storie, i don't know how true it may be however.

  • No it is not being 'arrogant and nationalistic'. The Germans are excellent at performing their music, apart from the English, who are just as good! Now perhaps you can guess my nationality michelffun???

  • eeeee

  • Excellent!!!!

  • i've never seen or heard this kind of set up b4. very interesting.

  • I'm sorry but I'm not that much impressed.. I don't here music for the hyer goal..

  • Oh dear michelffun, I dread to imagine the realms of your 'higher' (sic) goal, you silly bint.

  • Very emotional. Just a completely rich piece of enterpretation. Good old Handel would be very pleased to hear Karl's work.

  • I think something, Carl Richter is very hot play the organ, really! and that's true, because Bach and Handel are in Carl Richter's hands

  • I find some of the criticisms posted here rather strange. I think the performance here is superb, Karl Richter both playing and leading such a superb exhibition of musicianship. And what better to listen to German music performed by the Germans themselves. I rather feel that some of the silly comments here are merely down to jealousy and envy, not the best attributes of the human psyche, I'm afraid. And may Karl Richter's soul rest in peace.

  • @ds1868 I absolutely agree. The music is superb, breath taking, awesome!

  • Richter is such a pimp, it doesn't get any better than this!

  • GOD

  • Great performance! The Organist is really good.

  • The organist is THE ORGANIST... Like Ton Koopman, he materialized truly baroque interpretation every times he used his hand ona a keyboard.

  • I don't like the organ otherwise it's a really good performance

  • whats wrong with the organ?

  • I don't think it fits the space. If it was a bigger space it would sound better. Here in this room it sounds out of breath and winy

  • well.....i guess your right but do you dislike the organist also?

  • I like the organist to for certain eras of music I like his Handel. His Bach is okay but it's a bit to much Marcel Dupre sound for me in other words very legato. But other than his Baroque music I consider him very highly

  • to be honest this is the only time ive seen him doing handel and i like his bach but i do agree its a little to legato just a bit

  • Yeah...

  • That's what you get from the Romantic style, but Dupre can be a little bit boring when he plays Bach. I'm using his editions of Bach organ works but also some by Karl Straube.

I agree with you, the organ doesn't really fit the space. If only Karl decided to play at Freiberg instead, that would be even more amazing. I'm going to upload some more recordings of him playing there soon.

  • In any case its wonderful that Robotech shared these documents with us! There are so many archival recordings of Richter than remain hidden.

  • I love Dupre, but I think she's worse than boring when she plays Bach.

    But that Elgar recording!...

  • I agree, but Dupre was a "he", not a she. :-)

  • I was referring to *Jaqueline*.

I have to admit any other Dupre in classical music is unknown to me. :-)

    Who are you talking about?

  • Marcel Dupre.

  • Perhaps the organ fits the space, but the recording engineer got the microphones too close to the organ. The direct sound from the pipes seems to overpower the room acoustics, yet the orchestra sounds normal. I think the room is larger than it appears in this video.

  • perhaps.

  • I like the organ and it is a great performance

  • Is this from a DVD? I'd like to buy it if it is from a DVD!

  • Superb recording, thanks for posting this!

  • is there any vocals in this piece? its kinda hard to here if there are any

  • er, no. But I'm sure your question was not serious in any case......was it?

  • well...i knew i could'nt see any but i swear i can here them in one part

  • If vocals were present, it would be just as good anyway! The Germans are the masters of their own music: superb in every way.

  • this is just great i used to not like handel but this is great and karl richter at the console and conducting now that is cool!!!

  • Splendide!

Merci

  • Is a dvd of this recording available?

  • Thank you :)

I will upload the hole dvd in my spare times.

Munchener Bach Orchester, Karl Richter 1971 Germany.

  • THANKS ROBOTECH

    H.

  • Please do.

  • This is a high quality video:

1.The music it self, shows how to compose it.

2.The player shows how to conduct from console

3.The video shows the organist and other musicians playing and as the germans say they

are MAKING MUSIC.Thank you so much for this.

If you have more please share with all of us.

The date and place of recording please?

    Thanks again.
