Ive had hamsters in glass cages like this, in bird cages with only a few toys and some good food and snacks and my hamsters have done fine. If you keep your hammy happy and clean thats all that matters and children having pets such as hamsters teaches them responsibly like cleaning after them feeding them getting to know their little hamster... I like what you did with the cage. good job and keep lovin hammys!

hamster helper, I need help with my hamster. He has begun developing a tumor on his left thigh which has reached approximately 3 inches diameter. I have begun to remove the tumor surgically but I have learned that the femoral artery is embedded within the tumorous medium. Please advise.
The wheel you have in the cage is actually very dangerous, beacuse the small holes. The hamster can secure their paws in it! It happend with my friend's hamsters, the toe been hurt! :L

You actually need sand for them to bathe in it. You are not good with hamsters if you think they don't need it. She's a lil' girl and doesn't really know what she is doing. If she did she would've put some sand in there for the hamsters to bathe in.

@Wulliist I am ten years old. I take care of my own chinchilla,dog and horse. I even take care of my sisters hedgehog. Chinchillas are kinda high maintenance. Horses are high maintenance. Hedgehogs are high maintenance.So i research everything make sure i know im taking care of my animals the right way. I know chinchillas like to be alone. I am a child...i take care of lots of animals. But its your opinion if you think kids can't take care of animals.I am not trying to argue with you.
@Wulliist Im a child, my rats are in a 3x2.5x2 foot (with levels)cage fits 7 i have two, I pay and buy them everything, the right lab block,vet bills,wheel,toys! And my gerbils are in a 30 gallon long tank(have two), with 4 inches of bedding, two wheels, right food, chew toys, and DUST FREE bedding ! This is a sterotype my animals are in great condition and are spolied if anything. Maybe you shouldnt blame to kids yet the parents who allow it.

That water bottle is to high and that hamsters need to live alone as the don't like living in groups and will fight and possibly kill. The only ones that can life together are the dwarf hamsters apart from the chinese hamster

Nice Video! There are just a few problems a few future hamster owners out there watching might want to know:
The wire wheel you provided is not very good for their feet - plastic solid wheels should be provided as their delicate feet and toes can get caught and damaged in the gaps.
It is extremely rare that two Syrian or long haired hamsters will get along - as soon as they hit adulthood they'll normally become aggressive and fight to the death.
@tandori95: because they don't always fit do discrip! The 2 I have live together FOR 3 YEARS WITH NO FIGHTING!!! I didn't say you can always do that, but sometimes they do get along! It's rare, but sometimes they do get along!
And seeing your so smart tandori, if they were all of aggressive as they say, why do they keep them in the same tank at the pet stores? Just because the maturity of syrians are aggressive to eachother, doesn't mean they are ALL aggressive to eachother, there are rare cases, and ARE more common then not (I breed rase and sell syrians to pet stores for a living)

@Coolchloepop Well, there are 'golden hamsters' which are rather huge, often huger than your hand (when they're full-grown). Then there are Djungarian dwarf hamsters, they're as small as mice and usually grey-brownish. Those are the two most popular breeds. But there are also Roborovski dwarf hamsters which are similar to the djungarian ones, but have a shorter snout that looks like this :3 emoticon.. If you can't tell which breed yours is, just post a video of it :)
Try to get a bigger cage with parts and platforms and remember to not hold them all the time they need to rest in the day and make sure you arent stressing them out :)

Get a bigger cage. Fish tanks don't provide much air. Do you want a mask super glued to your face & barely be able to breath fresh air? No? Then they deserve it too.
Hi good video :) Im not trying to be rude but i read some of the comments here and agree with some you really should get a bigger cage or aquarium in your case it doesn't matter which and also another wheel because metal barred ones are actually bad for hamsters because they can catch their feet in them, try a full plastic one other than that you seem really good with your hamsters :) just please take some of our advice with the larger aquarium it does seem very small the one you have.

*cough* im not trying to be a downer but hamsters are boring. They run a lot, they bite a lot. If you want to buy an animal that compares with your life, NEVER bites, fun to hold, and very sweet, then i recommend getting a guinea pig from the Human Society! They're $5 and they have their shots and they are healthy and got theyre nails clipped. I got two for $10 and if you want to get two at petco/petsmart then it would be almost $100. It's just my opinion, So dont freak out people!!!! :D
@LittleMsCupcake123 Not all hamsters bite....I've had 3 hamsters in my life and none of them have EVER bitten me, hamsters are also fun to hold and play with and if you choose a hamster carefully, you can find one that doesn't run super fast either. I'm not trying to start a fight at all either. I just wanted others to know that they can get a hamster that is just as sweet as a guinea pig. PS I love guinea pigs too. :D

oh no no no thats terrible darling! what kind of bedding are you using? you should NOT use any type of cedar or pine wood shaving bedding, it can cause respiratory problems for the hamster! and you should NOT get your hamster a wire running wheel, theyre little legs can get stuck in it and it can cause serious injurys! the water bottle also looks a little too high for the hammie to reach! are you sure you know what your doing?

This cage is far too small. A hamster needs 1mx05,mx0,5m and sand for bathing and you must not give plastic into the cage because he will eat it and get sick...

I switched from my cage to an aquarium, and there was no problem with it. My hamster liked it very much and got 3 years old. This breed was supposed only to get 2 years old.

@Ray1624 they get aggressive once they hit maturity, syrians are a solitary species and so pet stores can keep them together as their babies and they havnt hit maturity but really pet stores give out terrible advicehence why so many animals are mistreated. THIS IS BASIC WELFARE

You have not got 3 syrian hamsters together have you?! look I dont mean to sound harsh or rude but not only is that tank way too small even for 1 hamster. This gives out dangourously WRONG advice. Syrian MUST NOT be kept together. end of. And i have had syrians before and also i study animals at college, I know what im talking about!!!

if i was you i'd invest in 3 seperate cages as syrians are a unsociable breed and will fight sometimes even to the death especially if they can smell a male, the cages also have to be quite spacious and have lots of things to climb on as syrians like levals :)

Well considering your doing hamster help videos, you should know that syrians should be kept alone or they will fight, dwarf hamsters are the only ones which should be kept in pairs or same sex groups, sorry but if your doing 'help' videos your not setting a great example when you have two syrians kept in one cage together, let alone a cage that size! Learn how to look after hamsters before you make 'help' videos.

@Coolchloepop Well, there are 'golden hamsters' which are rather huge, often huger than your hand (when they're full-grown). Then there are Djungarian dwarf hamsters, they're as small as mice and usually grey-brownish. Those are the two most popular breeds. But there are also Roborovski dwarf hamsters which are similar to the djungarian ones, but have a shorter snout that looks like this :3 emoticon.. If you can't tell which breed yours is, just post a video of it :)

Try to get a bigger cage with parts and platforms and remember to not hold them all the time they need to rest in the day and make sure you arent stressing them out :)

let me just say boy hamsters are calmer than girls ive had 12 hamsters and im only 11 but you need to feed them every day and change their water everyother day and make sure they stay warm mine just died because i had no heat in my room and it got sick :(

Hi good video :) Im not trying to be rude but i read some of the comments here and agree with some you really should get a bigger cage or aquarium in your case it doesn't matter which and also another wheel because metal barred ones are actually bad for hamsters because they can catch their feet in them, try a full plastic one other than that you seem really good with your hamsters :) just please take some of our advice with the larger aquarium it does seem very small the one you have.

*cough* im not trying to be a downer but hamsters are boring. They run a lot, they bite a lot. If you want to buy an animal that compares with your life, NEVER bites, fun to hold, and very sweet, then i recommend getting a guinea pig from the Human Society! They're $5 and they have their shots and they are healthy and got theyre nails clipped. I got two for $10 and if you want to get two at petco/petsmart then it would be almost $100. It's just my opinion, So dont freak out people!!!! :D

@LittleMsCupcake123 Not all hamsters bite....I've had 3 hamsters in my life and none of them have EVER bitten me, hamsters are also fun to hold and play with and if you choose a hamster carefully, you can find one that doesn't run super fast either. I'm not trying to start a fight at all either. I just wanted others to know that they can get a hamster that is just as sweet as a guinea pig. PS I love guinea pigs too. :D

oh no no no thats terrible darling! what kind of bedding are you using? you should NOT use any type of cedar or pine wood shaving bedding, it can cause respiratory problems for the hamster! and you should NOT get your hamster a wire running wheel, theyre little legs can get stuck in it and it can cause serious injurys! the water bottle also looks a little too high for the hammie to reach! are you sure you know what your doing?

This cage is far too small. A hamster needs 1mx05,mx0,5m and sand for bathing and you must not give plastic into the cage because he will eat it and get sick...

I switched from my cage to an aquarium, and there was no problem with it. My hamster liked it very much and got 3 years old. This breed was supposed only to get 2 years old.
