Uh, doesn't the 1st amendment give the teacher the right to make offensive comments about religion? Of course it's inappropriate and he should be disciplined by the school system, but he has a right to say it, and the school has a right to fire him.
of course FAUX news is going to take ONE instance and blow it up as if it's happening in thousands of schools every day. but what they don't tell you is how many schools are shoving religion down kids' throats every day.
@TruthSurge How many Schools do that you can't show faith in school you can't talk about religion at a graduation. at my brothers graduation they picked a math teacher (the students did) and he talked about life after high school with religion thrown in a few times the the superintendent then released a statement about how he would now be looking over every speech and fining the teacher FOR WHAT?!?! your may ask oh i guess you can't have free speech if you christian in FREE america
@thegreatest94 I think STUDENTS talking ABOUT religion outside of a classroom is fine. I have no prob with that. I think students PUSHING their beliefs (aka WITNESSING) is not to be done inside the school walls because you're there to learn the sciences and arts. Do it after school. Jesus.... are you that greedy? Teachers should NEVER push their religion in a classroom. They should be sensitive that not everyone is a bible thumper. I taught college for almost 3 years as an atheist.
you know if this was the other way around though it wouldn't be news...same as racism towards anyone but black people...it's sad how many "one way" streets our world is built on
Political Correctness is the most obscene, morally decadent political agenda ever devised by a so-called "free society" its a cancer that pretends to be a cure.
actually i have a psychology teacher that's pushing evolution. Come one, really? IIn psychology the only eveolution we need to hear about is how the HUMAN (NOT ANIMAL, HUMAN) brain mentaly grows. I think we should go back to the 70's and 80's when they taught BOTH Creation and Evolution
@eustacefan Why are you taking psychology if everything everyone does is predetermined by a God? What's the point of learning how people think if God's responsible for how you think? In your psychology class, have you learned why people believe in things with no evidence of existence?
That's why he's "pushing evolution". How will you be able to understand a patient's belief in imaginary things if you yourself believe in imaginary things? You should automatically fail the class.
@MonkeyBallZ214 There has been evidence for Christianity. The patients who believe in imaginary things are hallucinating. Our thoughts are not predetermined by God either
Wait a minute... the teacher is telling the truth, and it's "indoctrinating the children"? What about those children's parents who take them weekly, sometimes more, to a building where they learn lies (of course, there, it is called "the truth") about our human history, and this teacher is the one who is "indoctrinating the children"?! That teacher ranted once. Those children's pastors rant at least once a week. Now, I ask, who is "indoctrinating the children"? Biased news anchors!
@ElfqueenPixiestick The teacher is pushing his perspective on truth, as you should know, as an unbeliever, there is no such thing as truth, all is relative, at least thats what I hear all the atheist philosophers say. Listen, he is pushing his personal philosophy on a captive audience on a subject that has nothing to do with the subject he is supposed to be teaching about, he has an agenda born of intolerance and anger.
@hopked you say facts, can you prove that there isnt a God? and your calling me lazy, and dumb, well i ask you is it lazy and dumb to believe in a higher life form? is it lazy or dumb to try to better yourself through study of the bible? have you ever heard of a man called albert einstein? i expect so, and would you call him lazy and dumb??? no? because im pretty sure he is regarded as one of the most intelligent men in history, and he believed in God, first as a Jew, then later as a Christian.
@hopked maybe you're just arrogant, or maybe you're just ignorant, or maybe you're just intollerent, and i appreciate that what you have to say is your opinion, and you have every right to say it out loud, but cant you please find a way to do so that isn't offensive and rude and discriminatory???? just because some people dont believe in something doesnt mean they can go around trying to stop others believing it. that is discrimination, and i dont know about you, but where im from, thats illegal
It doesn't matter if you're a Christian or an Athiest or anything else, what this teacher did was WRONG. You are there to TEACH, not to preach your stupid-ass opinions that nobody but you gives two sh*ts about.
I had a teacher that would do things like that. One of my classmates got sent to the principal's office for respectfully saying "I disagree". It's not quite on this level, but that stayed with me. I've since learned to keep my mouth shut about everything.
As a teacher, I am not condoning what this teacher is doing. He was wrong and shouldn't have said what he did. However, the reporters need to understand that high school students are not children, and, at times, having open debates and discussion about topics is a part of the learning process. The teacher was wrong in how he handled it- but the student could have debated in a better way instead of recording the rant.
@Rugby80 Also, the reporters are wrong- the student's 1st Amendment rights were not completely violated as the student is voluntarily on school grounds, therefore they voluntarily limit their constitutional rights. However, again, the teacher also limits his as well. He shouldn't of ranted in such a way. I do wonder though, if the student intentionally pushed the teacher too much to get this response. If so, the student was wrong as well
@Doomspoon1America used to be mostly Christian now everyone does what is right in their own eyes. You know why their is more crime here in U.S. than in Swed? Cause the devil don't care about the ones he already has, he's after the ones that were taken out of his claws. Don't think we Christians have it on a flying bed of ease. It's actually getting worse for us with each passing day, just look at what you wrote along with all the other ones who are against Christianity. Even the gov. we aew
@Doomspoon1 (sorry) we are, I'm speaking of fundamentalist Christians, at the top of the gov. hit list. Before I go let me tell you this. In the Bible, how did Jesus act? Did He fight or sware or do evil? Even when they whipped Him all night long & then nailed Him to a cross, what did He do? Did He send fire down from heaven & burn them up? No He said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." So when you see people claiming His name but not acting as He did than you can safely
@Doomspoon1 assume that they are not Christian no matter what they say. How can I say that? You wonder? Saying a thing doesn't make it true. I can say I'm Cadillac Escalade all I want, go to the gas station and drink gas, which would likely kill me, and sit in the garage or parking spot till the moon turned into cheese but I still wouldn't be a Cadillac Escalade now would I? A true Christian exemplifies the life of Christ in everything that they do or say. One reason why they aren't saved is
@Doomspoon1 Because they were never saved. The Bible speaks plainly of salvation in Acts chapters 2 and ten. I hop all who read this have the ears to hear before it is too late. I'll be gone soon and I hope that you all will be caught up with me to meet the Lord in the air. If not, just remember don't take the mark of the beast, which could be anything such as a computer chip, a tattoo, both, or something else entirely.
@Doomspoon1 You will know it is the mark of the anti-Christ because they will tell you to do this to show your allegiance to him. And do not worship the image of the beast either. Do yourself a favor and try to see if you can find a safe spot hidden in the mountains somewhere until Christ Jesus comes back again to destroy the anti-Christ and his helper & people & to also give the earth a make over for the millennium period. Well I hope you guys hear me, better yet I hope you hear God.
@SPUNKinHERtrunk Curiosity is something that every person has. One thing we wonder is "How did everything happen?" Religion was born. Moses, who really did exsist, believed in God which created jewdism. Jewdisn evolved into many different religions including chirstianity and those religions spread. Other people had other religions and those religions spread. Most Countries are based off of religion even America. HOW THE FREAKING HELL CAN WE STOP IT? We just can't.... We just can't...
People neeed to leave christianity alone if you dont like it there is other religions you can join..im tired of this crap..Every one wants the christians to shut up but every other religion can do and say what they want.. they can pray and bow down in the middle of the street if they want and nobody will say a thing..they told my father at this prayer thing that he can pray but just not in Jesus name...but then they let all the other religions thank their God..we was supper heated.
@YouRocksMyWorldxx Sorry that FACTS fuck up your little jesus/god myth. I mean really? Do you REALLY need bronze age explinations and bed time storys to understand the world? Are you that lazy or just that dumb?
@hopked oh right, so its lazy and dumb to believe in a higher life form, and to not be so self obsessed as to believe that human beings are the master race??? its lazy and dumb to try to become a better person through teaching in the bible??? can i ask you, have you heard of a man called albert einstein??? was he lazy and dumb??? i think not, in fact i think in many cases he is regarded as one of the most intelligent men in history, and he beilieved in God, first as a Jew, then as a christian
@YouRocksMyWorldxx Ahem YES I do think its lazy. Also quit your quote mining and go read einsteins book he made it quite clear in several passages that he does not believe in a personal god and he mearly used the TERM god to try and explain vast subjects such as the universe as a whole. No I dont think jesus makes you a better person I think being a better person makes you a better person. You sir disgust me with your complete lack of understanding.
@hopked well ok. believe what you wish. im tired of argueing. if you refuse to open your mind, and accept that some people believe something different to you and wish for that to be respected, then you can go on thinking like that. but i can tell you now, that if you refuse to accept that what this teacher has said is disrespectful and ignorant, then you are at risk that people will not take your beliefs seriously, and you'll end up getting hurt.
@YouRocksMyWorldxx Well first off my stand point is based on fact and scientific study. Religion is based on a 2k year old book and forced to only accept what can coinside with that book where as I am free to keep an open mind to what ever may come up. I also have no need to "respect a belief" when something as silly as creationism is being forced on children all over the US. It needs to be laughed at to keep it out of the public. It has no place in school or politics.
We have a lot of problems with the Education System in the USA and allowing teachers to teach their opinions instead of the curriculum is a big problem. My 7 year old learned about drugs and marijuana from someone who knows nothing about them. My 7 year old thinks that marijuana will make you go blind and deaf and will make you kill yourself. Why lie to the kids? If you have an opinion about something, keep it to yourself. 2+2 does equal 4, so teach that and STFU.
This kind of thing happens to at least once a week in school. Teachers usually have thier view, and any other view is wrong in thier mind. My teacher talked about how these checks and balances stops corruption in the government in my government class last year. No, it doesn't. Cause they find ways around it, like threatening congress there will be martial law, or having one party in control on both houses and the executive branch, aka president. We've lost our free speech in this country.
Anyway for F*cks sake, this Fox New is completely biased and idiotic, they are attacking the Teacher, for his thinking, and then attacking the Judge for not destroying liberty further, and taking the side of the Christians throughout, because he was following legal constitutional laws and rights. Fox New can suck they're gods d*ck!
Most Christians argue they have morality, however whilst some do, many are ignorant idiots, that do not understands the all religion is a simple superstitious myth, which is rather unaccruate and been proven wrong many times. Atheist believe in no religions, because Atheists believe in Scientific Truth, that is actually proven and reliable, not some made up book made by various sexist old geezers, that has been changed numerous times over then centuries, which had caused intolerance & sexism.
so quoting statistical facts should be punishable, as should stating obvious realities such as creationism being superstitious nonsense. Okay, thanks for the update.
I don't care if it was a Christian rant, anti-Christian rant, atheist rant, Islam rant, anti-Islam rant, etc. It doesn't matter if what he's saying is right or wrong.
You people who are saying that he did nothing wrong would be the first to complain about a teacher putting bible verses on the classroom whiteboard.
@ajlyn9 Don't bother brother. Truth isn't what they are in it for. Extermination at all costs for the benefit of the world. They are evil and if given the chance, we'll be in an oven. If we were what they say we are, they would all be dead. The only reason they won't stab you in the back is fear of getting caught nothing more. Look at their language in the posts, look at their mocking nature. Destruction is in their hearts and one thing will make them happy, death. evil in evil out plain as that
This is wrong. The teacher was just as wrong for doing this. Just as wrong as if a Christian man went on a rant saying everyone who is not a Christian is going to hell & such. When will people learn to shut up & keep it to themselves? Do what feels right to YOU & leave people to what feels right to THEM! Oh & STFU!
@poosaypirate you are just like the teacher. Atheists with no moral standing calling moral people liars willy nilly. 100,000,000 deaths and you still want it. You wonder why there will be a war. Gay folks are the first your kind will eliminate. Like all your other comrads. You hate God, we love God. What that teacher said were lies. And your rantings are inaccurate at best. Take a look at the presidents assassination list. Atheists killing our Christian leaders. Murderous are Atheists at heart
@easymoney4ever If you get your "morality" from the bible, you're not only retarded, you're the epitome of evil, BTW, Einstein, atheists don't hate "God;" they don't believe in him. Now while somebody with your obvious profound retardation might not find any inconsistency in "hating" somebody you don't believe exists, non-retards do.
I checked your profile, and see you are from Australia. The right here in America is overwhelmingly religious and sensitive about it. Fox News panders directly to this crowd, and fans the flames as much as possible. Would they have aired this if the comments were negative about any other religion, or against the left? Of course not! This is meant to get uneducated, blue collar republicans angry in the morning before they go off to their minimum wage jobs, and to ensure they vote red.
@FSUjonnyD Americans like yourself are stupid and only booster anti American rhetoric around the world, why dont you do something constructive with your time instead like save the whales or burn your bra, anything to keep you off the Internet and shut you up!
As far as your comments about atheism, (Who said anything about atheism?) You seem to have alot of ill-conceived notions. Atheists "believe" in the exact same values as you. Love, poetry, art, beauty, friendship, the beauty of life, etc. We just don't believe in a magic sky daddy that's going to take us to a magical Disney land to live for ever and ever when we die. But, I agree ALL of these viewpoints need to stay out of the classroom.
I think that what all this comes down to is that no views at all should be pushed.
Athiest and Christian and all other religions or non religions alike.
All these...parties...seem to be trying to push their own views and it's probably not the right thing to do in a classroom where there are children of many different religions.
Everyone should really just keep to themselves, sure people have the right to free speech but if it stops wars, why complain?
This is nothing!!! My 11 year old brother is constantly being brainwashed in school! About conservatives, about Christianity and how bad they are. I don't why the teachers even have a right to state opinions in front of children!
@arachnophile01 No, no, no, Science can easily be taught without throwing God out. It has not been proved that God doesn't exist. And science can by far not always be explained, especially not to kids. Who says God did not oversee evolution? It's one possibility.
But that's not what I mean. I just have heard incidents of teachers bashing Christianity and that can be very offensive!
And you have to know that I live in Denmark which actually IS a true Christian with freedom of religion.
@arachnophile01 But only few still believe in God, let alone practice Christianity. 2% go to church of 5 million people. We don't need more teachers talking bad about Christianity because it is almost lost!
@eric5335 You don't understand wht I was asking, describe an incident. I never said theistic evolution was not a viable idea, but the Bible is pretty creationist and geocentrist. And compliments on your English, you sounded American so I gave examples of what conservatives here call brainwashing( besides the Ray Bradbury thing). Now what, pray tell, are the Danish teachers puting into your kids head, and how?
@arachnophile01 An incident was when a teacher tried to explain (based on a fictional book about Vikings) that Christmas was celebrated before the Christian christmas. When my brother told me that after school, I debunked it.
The story also took place 300 AD! But Christianity was not implemented in Denmark at that time. And still the only "christmas" celebration was a winter solstice celebration.
And you wouldn't know how many of the kids here actually believe in God!
@eric5335 That's it? Yeah, that IS partly what Christmas was based on, solstice celebrations, it's not like the teacher said (correct me if he said this) "well, basing a holiday on a pagan one, how typical, just like all of Christianity, not only a false religion, but not creative at all"
@eric5335 Doy you REALLY need a certain amount of religion in a country? And FYI, I said 'part of the reason', so yeah, it's because of both. One piece of evidence is that the Hebrew calender has a varying number of days per year, that's why Jewish holidays jump around alot. Jesus' birth would have been recorded on the Hebrew calender, not the Gregorian. If that is so, why is Christmas always Dec. 25 TBC
@eric5335 Christianity was different than Judaism since the times of Paul who was Saul, but early Christianity was even more egoless than Judaism, hence they didn't celebrate birthdays either, that's a Pagan thing. And Christmas is a holiday that began as a church holiday that became a more of a family gathering over the years
@arachnophile01 Christmas is a Christian holiday which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is typically celebrated on December 25th. The word "Christmas" comes from "Christ's mass," and the Roman Catholic church and most Protestant denominations observe Christmas after sundown on the 24th of December. Some Eastern Orthodox Church(s) practice it on January 6th, combining the day with Epiphany. Orthodox practice a Christmas Fast lasting 40 days (November 15 to December 24).
"Do you REALLY need a certain amount of religion in a country?"
Yes, I think so, because cultural fundamental features come from religion. Morale also comes from religion. Therefore we need it. I am not saying that forced religion is necessary nor am I saying that only ONE religion should be present, as I respect and endorse various freedoms such as freedom of religion. But I can not imagine a cultural society based on nothing.
@eric5335 Cultural fundemental features don't necesarily come from religion. look up "Amazon tribe atheist" and you will find that there is atleast one or two societies in South America that do not observe religion, infact haven't heard of it
@arachnophile01 Before the modern religions people worshipped natural phenomenons or animals, which would be the nature in general. Even the Viking Nordic religion contained it, i.e. thunder coming from Thor.
Faith is (throughout history as well) not only trust in a divine spirit, but also trust in the unknown as well as trust in persons. When I ask a friend to bring a glass of water, I would usually trust him not bringing poisoned water for me. That is trust in the unknown.
@eric5335 Another piece of evidence is that the Wiccan holiday Yule falls on the same day. The Jews also didn't even celebrate birthdays, why would Jesus' be any different. Many historians believe that the converted pagans still held to the significance of that day, and convinced the Clergy to hold "Christ's mass" or Christmas on that day
@arachnophile01 It wasn't until around AD 350 that 25 December was appointed to be the Mass of Christ, probably to coincide with the date of the Winter Solstice. The early Catholic Church concurred, probably in order to draw parishioners away from licentious pagan festivals occurring at about the same time of year.
@eric5335 That was my point, people observed a very similar holiday, and the church took it, and then it was later secularized (Christmas tree, presents, Santa Clause). While your brother's teacher may not have been semantically accurate when he said Vikings celebrated the holiday, you wouldn't be near as mad if he'd said Halloween was celbrated by pagans, it wasn't, that was Samhain.
@arachnophile01 You even see it when huge masses follow ONE single leader, they have trust in HIS spirit, although they may not really know him and never talked to him. To your other comment:
The Romans decked their halls with green laurels and trees decorated with candles. This feast, called Saturnalia, was a time for masquerades and feasts and the trading of presents, including "lucky fruits," the ancestor of today's fruitcake.
@eric5335 Now, if iget your meaning at ALL, you are broadening the deinition of religion beyond wht our original discussion was about. I mean, by that definition, everyone in Denmark is religous except for paranoid shizophrenics. And yes, I will acknowledge that even the secular aspects of Christmas are of pagan origin.
@arachnophile01 I just mean that religious beliefs have come from all kinds phenomenons throughout the human history. So that religion gives people the feeling that the world and their own lives make sense. Religion IS what seperates us from other animals. Without religion and the moral order which comes from that , children can be taught anything. We humans are all born equal... equal, empty and naive.
@eric5335 So you are saying the aforementioed Amazonian tribes are not human? If you are just saying certain phenomena cause religion, than that in and of itself is what seperates us from animals, not the effect(religion). "Children can be taught anything" yeah, like to care about other people, and do what is right because it's right and not because of the boogeyman Devil torturing them for eternity. God forbid children learn to make decisions through reason!
@arachnophile01 I said nothing like that. Although the Amazon tribe you mentioned didn't believe in a spirit, they may have had faith in something or someone else. Religion DOES teach morale! What did the atheist communists teach their children? Or what did Nazis teach the kids?
"Boogeyman Devil"
There has got to be some fear or punishment for doing the wrong things. It's even the law of nature! What do most babies learn when they burn their fingers in the kitchen?
@eric5335 Like I said, you are broadening the definition of religion to far beyond the scope of the original discussion( Like nobody in Denmark believes in 'someone else') "What did the atheist communists teach their children" by your broadened defintion, religion. "Follow something greater than yourselves( Stalin or Hitler) or you will get punnished"
@arachnophile01 Yes, and that's wrong! Because no man is greater than the other! All men are created equal. That's what happens when you trust everything you have in ONE leader rather than God, the creator of the world, the universe and every living species!
@TheShooterOne What do you mean, I forgot Jesus? he didn't create the forms of Christianity that is being promoted. he didn't write the Bible, nor did he think he was GOD, nor did he say that people have to think of him as their Lord Savior from their sins. chrisitianity is full of contradictions, misinterpretations, falsehoods, and was created modern forms of laws that are supposed to be created to protect civil rights. that's why the US has a constitition, Bill of Rights.
I think the student is brainwashed kid that is lost. he wants to read a book that was a interpretation and modified version from another All religions are basically Religious cults that are trying to brainwash people into their religion so they can control the population. It's all a bunch of BS conjured up by morally corrupt people. If a woman wants to get an abortion that's her decision. If Chad does't like abortion, then let him have his own child when he gets pregnant.
@TheShooterOne Yeah, it is so prevalent in movies, tv, music, radio, newspapers, mags, government, it has become nauseating. bottom line, I think that the real reason why hard core christians have to constantly apologize to Jesus is because they are using his name to promote sinner behavior and a stupid religion Jesus didn't create. I have no problem in believing in Ascended Masters or Archangels, I just won't get all "Religious" about it and violate someone else's civil rights.
@MrsLaLaFace If is child is raised by his/her parents to believe that blue eyed people are superior to brown eyed people, can teachers point this out as being stupid? If is child is raised by his/her parents to believe that white people are superior to black people, can teachers point out this is evil? What do you think?
@TheShooterOne 1:National Day of Prayer= Christian privilege. 2: Anti-Stem cell research because it would 'interfere with gawdz plan!'= diseases that could be cured are denied due to stupid fundie beliefs. 3: condoned Catholic priest rape of little boys= does this need explaining? (yes, I was one of those boys.) 4: unspoken of 'christist mafia'= in my work place, if I come out as an atheist I will loose my job. My boss is a fundie christist and he would not renew my contract.
4. Christianity has been marketing the media, the entertainment industry, etc. to the point where it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that I would think that it is a positive way of living. I see hypocritical behavior coming from Christians all of the time. They seem to think that violating the law/another person's civil rights and asking God for forgiveness is how it works. Sorry to disappoint everyone, but the victim(s) have to be the ones to forgive if asked and compensated properly.
1. It's just a Religion that has many different denominations and they are based on another Religion that is called Judaism.
2. ALL Religions are basically Religious Cults that have been made legitimate because the Government allows them to be. However, they all have various interpretations of what are written in Religious books that even Religious leaders can't agree.
3. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, unless your a Christian.
So it would seem Fox news do not support freedom of speech the way they say "not approved by the judge" like its a disgrace.
Only thing wrong the teacher is doing is going on a tangent and not teaching the subject he's supposed to be. But something seems fishy about this whole situation to me, like hes had the subject brought up in a lesson by his students and is feeding the troll as it were.
I'm not looking for a fight so please don't just spam me with troll replies but can anyone actually prove that God exists? Every solid piece of evidence (that means no random quotes from scripture or talk of faith) suggests he isn't. The only thing slightly convincing is found in prophecies.
Wait, Is that the same blonde girl who said "'under god' in the pledge is constitutional because you can weigh in on the religion v. irreligion debate as long as you don't favor a particular religion" and "Atheist students can go out of class if they on't want to say those words
These teachers are just arrogant assholes who love having a captive audience. They should teach the subject matter they are paid to teach. Our kids are getting crappy educations because of all the time that is wasted in the classroon on this and other liberal JUNK.
everybody is entitled to their own opinion. on the other hand if you're a teacher, you need to keep your words carefully with the curriculum, and your religious views to yourself.
I agree with the statements the teacher made. Creationism really is superstitious nonsense. Since when is citing statistics illegal? Why didn't they say the line that apparently was over the edge?
@christo930 I think that this may have been a little over the edge, citing statistics is not illegal, but let me give an example of a way it could be legal:
my science teacher cited the HS droput rate by race. however, she didn't say to her latino students "Is it a coincidence that your dropout rate is so high?"
Wow get over it. My teacher says some really weird shit and we sometimes find it offensive but we tolerate it because we also find it funny. Just because my teacher makes fun of Jesus when he talks to me jokingly doesn't mean I should call up Fox and report him as a tyrant that is trying to indoctrinate me by making his own statements about Jesus. The people of Fox should try harder with their work, because this is half-assed childish behaviour and it's embarassing!!
I've had teachers like that, who bash Christianity, America, Caucasians, and the conservative political viewpoint, all often in the place of teaching!
Dhesycs@ Intolerance? But we have to be intolerant of some things, like stealing, vandalism, etc. I'm not trying to be sarcastic lol, but the modern term "intolerance" being used as a bad thing is simply illogical.
I think that everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion in a public forum, as do most people, but should be called to task when they claim that their opinion IS fact, when there isn't a consensus of evidence to back their stance as beyond reasonable doubt. I always separate my opinion from fact, because I could be wrong!
As a TEACHER, one should be extremely cautious in separating personal opinion from fact, when in the classroom.
Well if that teacher winds up getting fired, I may just hire him to tutor my kids. This guy seems pretty bright. The abstinence only policy and the prison system are demonstrable failures, and there is an obvious religious influence in those policies. From all I've heard of this guy, he's got a firm grasp of history and religion's place in it. We should have more teachers like him.

@Lev08e39M5 more like rape a child's mind. Stick to the subject your teaching and stop trying to indoctrinate children. Why don't you pick on someone your own size and age. No wonder so many liberal losers end up teachers. They can't hold down a real job.
@Armornone i go to this school and maybe u dint listen this is an AP European History class meaning its a college class. It even says in the cirriculum that u spend bout 15 minutes in the begining of every class talkin bout current news. religion is obviously current news and its his opnion if he was a true christian he would learn to forgive. trust me people like this teacher and fox news doesnt hav a clue bout what happens in the class
@Armornone Wow, very intelligent. Have you ever taken an advanced placement course before? Much less gone to college? Debate is something that often spills out in these classes! ESPECIALLY in a history class. I have no doubt in my mind that these students aren't speaking up if there is some offended bible thumper taking this to court. If you think this is 'mind-rape' then you need quite a reality check- what that teacher says is the truth!
@rebbecca10491 The teachershould not be bringing his politics into the class room, he is brainwashing them like the other Obamanites had to children singing praise to the leader. Maybe your the type who see nothing wrong with indoctrination.
@beginization I prefer secular, educated 'indoctrination' over that kid's religious bull. I don't think you understand really what this is about. It's not that specific teacher's politics- liberalism is the opposing argument to what this kids point of view. It sounds more like an animated discussion in an advanced placement court- which is to be expected. You can't expect personal opinion to escape debate.
@rebbecca10491 You must be from a communist country to see nothing wrong with what this so called teacher is doing. She is not allowed to convert children to her political views inside a class room, she can stand on a street corner being a activist for Obama but I would remove my child from her reach as how could you be sure the children of conservatives are being marked correctly infavour of black students ?
Could be going on as even Obama wont show any of his records from school and uni.
@beginization Also- this is a highschool course. Imagine how many kids are just sitting there texting and drooling. These comments are an example of a ligitimate teaching strategy used by teachers and professors meant to stir debate and discussion. This kid is turning these comments into something they're not- and I'd like to see how this teacher is 'chastising' these kids for their religious beliefs before the media starts riling up the bible thumpers.
@rebbecca10491 Their was no debate going on, he was pushing his political views on the students toincite hatred towards consevative americans which make up the majority. This left wing teacher can be sacked for bring his bigotry into school.
Tell what you think the kids learnt from his hate speech.
@beginization Well the kids probably were smart enough to take his opinion as just opinion. If some were offended, well this tempers their own beliefs. If some swayed towards the teachers opinions because they were convinced through evidence, then good for them. That is how the USA works. Free speech and thinking. I for one am a theologian and I don't understand why christians in the US are the way they are. They don't seem christian to me. They are doing a very bad job of it in the public eye.
@LOLDISNEYLAND But it not as they only allow atheism in school but refuse to let ID be taught as a subject to hear more views from scientist who do have a belief in god and the work they do and have invented over the last 300 years to build this society so by not allowing other ideas is fascism and has led to soceity breaking down through not moral standing by alot of atheist or people who dont believe in a god and the rule of law.
@beginization You know how ideas about religions effect on life NOW be effecting a history class, similarly, Ideas about god don't effect a science class unless he pops up and let's himself be genetically broken down under a microscope
offensive in what way? offensive as he is pointing out flaws in Christianity? or offensive as he disagrees with the teachers views? is this not the teachers job? to teach the students there are different points of views? so the kid don't agree with his so the teacher should be punished? i think homosexuasl are disgusting but dont try to bring a law suit on homosexual ppl for being disgusted with my choice of sexuality nor would i expect them to bring a law suit against me for thinking the same
I found this commentary very interesting, being that most news networks avoid the balancing act, and usually take only one side to the argument. Normally the viewpoints of "liberalism" or "conservatism" are covered up with a whole lot of double talk, and the lines become gray, because no one really says what they really mean.
Teachers injecting their own views into the classroom discussion? NO WAY!! What a stupid program. These people at Fox news are as bad as the liberals who try to censor Christian values.
On another note, the coorelation between crime and the south has nothing to do with Christianity. On the contrary, Christian values are a nations primary defense against crime. Call me a bigot for not being politically correct, but the obvious coorelation is the number of blacks in the south.
What the teacher said was mostly right, but the fact is he shouldnt have voiced his views in the classroom. Its unethical and unproffessional.
Still I love how fox news went at him. HIS PICKING ON CHRISTIANTY! Love to see how they would have covered it if the teacher had spoken against islam.
That is why it is so important that Christians parents continue to enstill Biblical values within their households. The bible clearly teach us in Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." My parents made sure I knew God, and I'm making sure that my daughter will know God for herself as well.
The bible also says if your kids disobey or disrespect you you should stone them to death, so make sure you've got some stones handy when they dont clean their room. Oh and its ok to rape your daughter too. Its in the bible after all.
I wish that people that use the Bible to make a point, would at least read the Bible to understand what it means, instead of blind stupid comments. During this time, man was considered fallen in the sight of God. Due to increasing sin, man had literally no chance of redeeming himself unto God's standards. Disobedience is breaking the law, and breaking the law is punishable by death. Once Christ Jesus died on the cross, He paid the debt, through His sacrifice on the cross, for us.
@rmaynard626 Ive read the bible, thats why im an atheist. What does anything in your comment say to make stoning children and raping daughters ok?
"Once Christ Jesus died on the cross, He paid the debt, through His sacrifice on the cross,"
So God needed a blood sacrifice to forgive us? Why did an all loving, all forgiving, all powerful being need to kill himself, or his incarnation, or his son to forgive us? Why couldnt he just forgive? What was stopping him? Why did murder appease him?
@Fangtorn Because God cannot be in the presence of sin nor can he tolerate it. If he did he would be less then perfect and he cannot go against his perfect nature. For man to be rectified with God sin needs to be destroyed and that can only be done through blood. A universal law of God and nature is that SIN=DEATH. Where there is sin there must be death. That is why the Hebrews had to bring a bloody sacrifice to the temple for forgiveness. There must be a bloody propitiation for sin.
Uh, doesn't the 1st amendment give the teacher the right to make offensive comments about religion? Of course it's inappropriate and he should be disciplined by the school system, but he has a right to say it, and the school has a right to fire him.

@TruthSurge How many Schools do that you can't show faith in school you can't talk about religion at a graduation. at my brothers graduation they picked a math teacher (the students did) and he talked about life after high school with religion thrown in a few times the the superintendent then released a statement about how he would now be looking over every speech and fining the teacher FOR WHAT?!?! your may ask oh i guess you can't have free speech if you christian in FREE america
thegreatest94 2 months ago
@thegreatest94 I think STUDENTS talking ABOUT religion outside of a classroom is fine. I have no prob with that. I think students PUSHING their beliefs (aka WITNESSING) is not to be done inside the school walls because you're there to learn the sciences and arts. Do it after school. Jesus.... are you that greedy? Teachers should NEVER push their religion in a classroom. They should be sensitive that not everyone is a bible thumper. I taught college for almost 3 years as an atheist.

actually i have a psychology teacher that's pushing evolution. Come one, really? IIn psychology the only eveolution we need to hear about is how the HUMAN (NOT ANIMAL, HUMAN) brain mentaly grows. I think we should go back to the 70's and 80's when they taught BOTH Creation and Evolution
eustacefan 4 months ago

ElfqueenPixiestick 5 months ago
@ElfqueenPixiestick The teacher is pushing his perspective on truth, as you should know, as an unbeliever, there is no such thing as truth, all is relative, at least thats what I hear all the atheist philosophers say. Listen, he is pushing his personal philosophy on a captive audience on a subject that has nothing to do with the subject he is supposed to be teaching about, he has an agenda born of intolerance and anger.

Rugby80 8 months ago
@Rugby80 Also, the reporters are wrong- the student's 1st Amendment rights were not completely violated as the student is voluntarily on school grounds, therefore they voluntarily limit their constitutional rights. However, again, the teacher also limits his as well. He shouldn't of ranted in such a way. I do wonder though, if the student intentionally pushed the teacher too much to get this response. If so, the student was wrong as well

No He said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." So when you see people claiming His name but not acting as He did than you can safely

@Doomspoon1 assume that they are not Christian no matter what they say. How can I say that? You wonder? Saying a thing doesn't make it true. YouRocksMyWorldxx 6 months ago

TwiztedAnimator 11 months ago
This kind of thing happens to at least once a week in school. Teachers usually have thier view, and any other view is wrong in thier mind. My teacher talked about how these checks and balances stops corruption in the government in my government class last year. No, it doesn't. Cause they find ways around it, like threatening congress there will be martial law, or having one party in control on both houses and the executive branch, aka president. We've lost our free speech in this country.

The true definition of an athiests beliefs is that they believe nothing.
They have no beliefs but the laws that they have to abide by.
So...an athiest protesting against christian beliefs means they BELIEVE that christian views are wrong.
A true athiest, keeps to themselves and doesn't involve themselves in any religious beliefs?

Of course not! This is meant to get uneducated, blue collar republicans angry in the morning before they go off to their minimum wage jobs, and to ensure they vote red.

How's that new atheist PM working out for ya?
FSUjonnyD 1 year ago
Hmm, this is an interesting situation.

I don't why the teachers even have a right to state opinions in front of children!
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 You mean in the following classes:
Science: Teaching that the Earth orbits the Sun, and evolution.
Social Studies: The crusades. 'nuff said.
P.E.: Breaking up a few students bullying the gay kid
English: Reading Ray Bradbury's "All Summer in a Day", that advocates sun Worship!
I know this probably isn't all you're mad about, so tell me, what's go you so angry? I'm all ears
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 No, no, no, Science can easily be taught without throwing God out. It has not been proved that God doesn't exist. And science can by far not always be explained, especially not to kids. Who says God did not oversee evolution? It's one possibility.
But that's not what I mean. I just have heard incidents of teachers bashing Christianity and that can be very offensive!
And you have to know that I live in Denmark which actually IS a true Christian with freedom of religion.
eric5335 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 But only few still believe in God, let alone practice Christianity. 2% go to church of 5 million people. We don't need more teachers talking bad about Christianity because it is almost lost!
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 You don't understand wht I was asking, describe an incident. I never said theistic evolution was not a viable idea, but the Bible is pretty creationist and geocentrist. And compliments on your English, you sounded American so I gave examples of what conservatives here call brainwashing( besides the Ray Bradbury thing). Now what, pray tell, are the Danish teachers puting into your kids head, and how?
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 An incident was when a teacher tried to explain (based on a fictional book about Vikings) that Christmas was celebrated before the Christian christmas. When my brother told me that after school, I debunked it.
The story also took place 300 AD! But Christianity was not implemented in Denmark at that time. And still the only "christmas" celebration was a winter solstice celebration.
And you wouldn't know how many of the kids here actually believe in God!
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 That's it? Yeah, that IS partly what Christmas was based on, solstice celebrations, it's not like the teacher said (correct me if he said this) "well, basing a holiday on a pagan one, how typical, just like all of Christianity, not only a false religion, but not creative at all"
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 Christmas is celebrated because of Jesus! I don't know why some people think it's not!
Also, I have not many examples as I only started watching out for it, a year ago. I am only 19!
It's not like we already have enough religion here in Denmark! Only 2% go to church.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 Doy you REALLY need a certain amount of religion in a country? And FYI, I said 'part of the reason', so yeah, it's because of both. One piece of evidence is that the Hebrew calender has a varying number of days per year, that's why Jewish holidays jump around alot. Jesus' birth would have been recorded on the Hebrew calender, not the Gregorian. If that is so, why is Christmas always Dec. 25 TBC
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 So what is Christmas then? In your mind? Do you even realize that Christianity is a slightly different religion than Judaism?

@eric5335 Christianity was different than Judaism since the times of Paul who was Saul, but early Christianity was even more egoless than Judaism, hence they didn't celebrate birthdays either, that's a Pagan thing. And Christmas is a holiday that began as a church holiday that became a more of a family gathering over the years
arachnophile01 1 year ago

But I can not imagine a cultural society based on nothing.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 Cultural fundemental features don't necesarily come from religion. look up "Amazon tribe atheist" and you will find that there is atleast one or two societies in South America that do not observe religion, infact haven't heard of it
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 Before the modern religions people worshipped natural phenomenons or animals, which would be the nature in general. Even the Viking Nordic religion contained it, i.e. thunder coming from Thor.
Faith is (throughout history as well) not only trust in a divine spirit, but also trust in the unknown as well as trust in persons. When I ask a friend to bring a glass of water, I would usually trust him not bringing poisoned water for me. That is trust in the unknown.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 Another piece of evidence is that the Wiccan holiday Yule falls on the same day. The Jews also didn't even celebrate birthdays, why would Jesus' be any different. Many historians believe that the converted pagans still held to the significance of that day, and convinced the Clergy to hold "Christ's mass" or Christmas on that day
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 It wasn't until around AD 350 that 25 December was appointed to be the Mass of Christ, probably to coincide with the date of the Winter Solstice. The early Catholic Church concurred, probably in order to draw parishioners away from licentious pagan festivals occurring at about the same time of year.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 That was my point, people observed a very similar holiday, and the church took it, and then it was later secularized (Christmas tree, presents, Santa Clause). While your brother's teacher may not have been semantically accurate when he said Vikings celebrated the holiday, you wouldn't be near as mad if he'd said Halloween was celbrated by pagans, it wasn't, that was Samhain.
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 You even see it when huge masses follow ONE single leader, they have trust in HIS spirit, although they may not really know him and never talked to him. To your other comment:
The Romans decked their halls with green laurels and trees decorated with candles. This feast, called Saturnalia, was a time for masquerades and feasts and the trading of presents, including "lucky fruits," the ancestor of today's fruitcake.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 Now, if iget your meaning at ALL, you are broadening the deinition of religion beyond wht our original discussion was about. I mean, by that definition, everyone in Denmark is religous except for paranoid shizophrenics. And yes, I will acknowledge that even the secular aspects of Christmas are of pagan origin.
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 I just mean that religious beliefs have come from all kinds phenomenons throughout the human history. So that religion gives people the feeling that the world and their own lives make sense. Religion IS what seperates us from other animals. Without religion and the moral order which comes from that , children can be taught anything. We humans are all born equal... equal, empty and naive.
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 So you are saying the aforementioed Amazonian tribes are not human? If you are just saying certain phenomena cause religion, than that in and of itself is what seperates us from animals, not the effect(religion). "Children can be taught anything" yeah, like to care about other people, and do what is right because it's right and not because of the boogeyman Devil torturing them for eternity. God forbid children learn to make decisions through reason!
arachnophile01 1 year ago
@arachnophile01 I said nothing like that. Although the Amazon tribe you mentioned didn't believe in a spirit, they may have had faith in something or someone else. Religion DOES teach morale! What did the atheist communists teach their children? Or what did Nazis teach the kids?
"Boogeyman Devil"
There has got to be some fear or punishment for doing the wrong things. It's even the law of nature! What do most babies learn when they burn their fingers in the kitchen?
eric5335 1 year ago
@eric5335 Like I said, you are broadening the definition of religion to far beyond the scope of the original discussion( Like nobody in Denmark believes in 'someone else') "What did the atheist communists teach their children" by your broadened defintion, religion. "Follow something greater than yourselves( Stalin or Hitler) or you will get punnished"
arachnophile01 1 year ago

FenderRhodes2 1 year ago
@TheShooterOne Yeah, it is so prevalent in movies, tv, music, radio, newspapers, mags, government, it has become nauseating. bottom line, I think that the real reason why hard core christians have to constantly apologize to Jesus is because they are using his name to promote sinner behavior and a stupid religion Jesus didn't create. I have no problem in believing in Ascended Masters or Archangels, I just won't get all "Religious" about it and violate someone else's civil rights.

FenderRhodes2 1 year ago
Here is my take on Christianity.
FenderRhodes2 1 year ago
So it would seem Fox news do not support freedom of speech the way they say "not approved by the judge" like its a disgrace.
Only thing wrong the teacher is doing is going on a tangent and not teaching the subject he's supposed to be. But something seems fishy about this whole situation to me, like hes had the subject brought up in a lesson by his students and is feeding the troll as it were.
luketorpedo 1 year ago
I'm not looking for a fight so please don't just spam me with troll replies but can anyone actually prove that God exists? Every solid piece of evidence (that means no random quotes from scripture or talk of faith) suggests he isn't. The only thing slightly convincing is found in prophecies.

I agree with the statements the teacher made. Creationism really is superstitious nonsense. Since when is citing statistics illegal? Why didn't they say the line that apparently was over the edge?
christo930 1 year ago
@christo930 I think that this may have been a little over the edge, citing statistics is not illegal, but let me give an example of a way it could be legal:
my science teacher cited the HS droput rate by race. however, she didn't say to her latino students "Is it a coincidence that your dropout rate is so high?"
arachnophile01 1 year ago
Wow get over it. My teacher says some really weird shit and we sometimes find it offensive but we tolerate it because we also find it funny. Just because my teacher makes fun of Jesus when he talks to me jokingly doesn't mean I should call up Fox and report him as a tyrant that is trying to indoctrinate me by making his own statements about Jesus. The people of Fox should try harder with their work, because this is half-assed childish behaviour and it's embarassing!!

Dhesycs@ Intolerance? But we have to be intolerant of some things, like stealing, vandalism, etc. I'm not trying to be sarcastic lol, but the modern term "intolerance" being used as a bad thing is simply illogical.
aaa333ify 1 year ago
I don't think either are completely in the right.

If you think this is 'mind-rape' then you need quite a reality check- what that teacher says is the truth!
rebbecca10491 1 year ago
@rebbecca10491 The teachershould not be bringing his politics into the class room, he is brainwashing them like the other Obamanites had to children singing praise to the leader. Maybe your the type who see nothing wrong with indoctrination.

@beginization I prefer secular, educated 'indoctrination' over that kid's religious bull. I don't think you understand really what this is about. It's not that specific teacher's politics- liberalism is the opposing argument to what this kids point of view. It sounds more like an animated discussion in an advanced placement court- which is to be expected. You can't expect personal opinion to escape debate.
rebbecca10491 1 year ago

@rebbecca10491 Their was no debate going on, he was pushing his political views on the students toincite hatred towards consevative americans which make up the majority. This left wing teacher can be sacked for bring his bigotry into school.

beginization 1 year ago
@beginization Well the kids probably were smart enough to take his opinion as just opinion. If some were offended, well this tempers their own beliefs. If some swayed towards the teachers opinions because they were convinced through evidence, then good for them. That is how the USA works. Free speech and thinking. I for one am a theologian and I don't understand why christians in the US are the way they are. They don't seem christian to me. They are doing a very bad job of it in the public eye.

I found this commentary very interesting, being that most news networks avoid the balancing act, and usually take only one side to the argument. Normally the viewpoints of "liberalism" or "conservatism" are covered up with a whole lot of double talk, and the lines become gray, because no one really says what they really mean.
rmaynard626 1 year ago
Teachers injecting their own views into the classroom discussion? NO WAY!! What a stupid program. These people at Fox news are as bad as the liberals who try to censor Christian values.
On another note, the coorelation between crime and the south has nothing to do with Christianity. On the contrary, Christian values are a nations primary defense against crime. Call me a bigot for not being politically correct, but the obvious coorelation is the number of blacks in the south.

Fox News, fair and balanced huh?
What the teacher said was mostly right, but the fact is he shouldnt have voiced his views in the classroom. Its unethical and unproffessional.
Still I love how fox news went at him. HIS PICKING ON CHRISTIANTY! Love to see how they would have covered it if the teacher had spoken against islam.
Fangtorn 1 year ago
That is why it is so important that Christians parents continue to enstill Biblical values within their households. The bible clearly teach us in Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." My parents made sure I knew God, and I'm making sure that my daughter will know God for herself as well.
rmaynard626 1 year ago
The bible also says if your kids disobey or disrespect you you should stone them to death, so make sure you've got some stones handy when they dont clean their room. Oh and its ok to rape your daughter too. Its in the bible after all.
Fangtorn 1 year ago
I wish that people that use the Bible to make a point, would at least read the Bible to understand what it means, instead of blind stupid comments. During this time, man was considered fallen in the sight of God. Due to increasing sin, man had literally no chance of redeeming himself unto God's standards. Disobedience is breaking the law, and breaking the law is punishable by death. Once Christ Jesus died on the cross, He paid the debt, through His sacrifice on the cross, for us.
rmaynard626 1 year ago
@rmaynard626 Ive read the bible, thats why im an atheist. What does anything in your comment say to make stoning children and raping daughters ok?
"Once Christ Jesus died on the cross, He paid the debt, through His sacrifice on the cross,"
So God needed a blood sacrifice to forgive us? Why did an all loving, all forgiving, all powerful being need to kill himself, or his incarnation, or his son to forgive us? Why couldnt he just forgive? What was stopping him? Why did murder appease him?
Fangtorn 1 year ago
@Fangtorn Because God cannot be in the presence of sin nor can he tolerate it. If he did he would be less then perfect and he cannot go against his perfect nature. For man to be rectified with God sin needs to be destroyed and that can only be done through blood. A universal law of God and nature is that SIN=DEATH. Where there is sin there must be death. That is why the Hebrews had to bring a bloody sacrifice to the temple for forgiveness. There must be a bloody propitiation for sin.
WorshipInTruth 1 year ago
@Fangtorn It is not the murder of Christ which pleased the Father but Christ's OBEDIENCE UNTO DEATH which appeased him.
