  • damn u got some crazy arms, wat exercises u do man?

  • i dont have space for rope jumping

  • Does jumping rope help a lot with your abs?

  • will i lose fat on my stomach if i do this eryday

  • the rope looksinvisible andit makes a cool sound when it hits the ground

    nice skipping

    =]

  • this looks hard

  • This guy is a PRO.

  • i dont think i would dare jump rope in there.lol. id have a feeling i would hit the mirror

  • that was siome amazing jumproping

  • damn tht looks sweet

    - julie

  • yes there is a measurement, stand on the rope in the middle and the handles both of them should not be higher than your arm pit, so it should not pass more than five inches above the head, too be honest his rope is too thick, for every one revolution his makes my rope does three. i used one similar to the one his using but could only go so fast, then i saw a rope used by buddy lee and bought it. Its fast so maybe for a beginner get used to a big rope then move on, fitness increases super fast

  • because jumping rope for 10 minutes in equivelant to jogging for 30 minutes, two sets of tennis, swimming 12 minutes, cycling 2 miles in 6 minutes, handball 20 minutes, running one mile in 12 minutes. within one week of doing jump rope for two weeks my taekwondo fitness shot up to like people doing it for 3 years, so its fast, i jump and count each time the rope hits the ground 70-140 times then do 25 puchups, 25 situps, then again five sets like this morning/afternoon/evening

  • i wonder if his arms got like that just off jumping rope lol.. probly some weight lifting too

  • Is there some rule of thumb to know the right length of rope to use?

  • ya, if u step on the middle, each end of the rope should reach your armpits

  • step in the middle with both or one foot?

  • 4'10'' and under: 7ft rope

    4'11'' to 5'4'': 8ft rope

    5'4'' to 5'11'' 9ft rope

    6' and over: 10ft rope

If you're over about 6'6'' then get a 14ft rope or a double dutch rope.

  • I would assume a little bit less than twice your body length. I'm 6 ft so I would want a 10-11 ft rope know what I mean?

    whatever feels comfy

  • yea, if you stand on the rope your handles should come to around arm pit height

  • 9 foot (recommended for those under 6 feet) and 10 foot lengths (recommended for those over 6 feet)

  • When you stretch the rope it should reach your chest if it goes above your chest then obviously it's too long and will need adjusting accordingly. The best ones to buy are the real sports ones that you can adjust like Nike ones or Reebok.

  • If you do these excersizes WITHOUT a jump rope (i.e. just jumping in place) will it still have the same effect? o.0

  • I'm sure it will have the same effect on the legs but you need to have some weights in your hands to get some arm workout as well.

But why wouldn't you use the jump rope since it's much more fun to use something that requires you to jump over it?

  • o wow, good ?...

  • nope. ive tried, bcuz u nvr use ur fore arm.

  • I've tried it at home and it is great. I used in my hands two bottles filled with water, to simulate the weight of the ropes. I chose this way because I can't use a jump rope inside my apartment and I don't know how to jump rope anyway :P

  • when using a rope you will also be focusing on the rope itself which increases the intensity of the workout.

  • If you don't have the rope, you won't be doing the same motion. You won't notice it but it's just not gonna happen.

  • Amen. The jump rope causes you to tense muscles to jump in time.

Think about it, You go to a rock gig, you can jump up and down for a good solid 2 hours.

You jump rope for 2 hours and I promise you will not be walking straight.

  • Coorect, jump rope sustains the motion and required strength. If you dont use rope, you don't know how much energy you have to put. Skipping is not so easy.

  • Yes. You only move the rope sparingly unless you're doing some fancy tricks, which means you'll move your arms slightly...

In fact if someone teaches you how to jump rope they often times get you to make the motions without the rope in order to get them down before you begin.

ropes aren't expensive though, and you can literally make one out of a length of rope, rubber, or plastic. My friend was too broke to afford one so he made a rope out of braided twine.. lol

  • the rope gives you a rythym and a distraction from a mundane task. focusing on your rythym is a good way too push yourself when feeling tired and achieveing that extra 10-20%

  • why? a good rope costs €15

  • No, I think it is more intense workout with the rope(wrist movement).

  • Virtually yes, it will have the same effect. However you will just look kind of out of place if your jump roping without a jump rope. But when people first learn to jump rope they do it without the rope. It kind of gives you the feel for it like shadow boxing does. Also with a jump rope you get greater resistance and skill and a better workout for your wrists. Do one or the other, they both are great for the body!

  • no it wont, eventualy youll start to fatigue and may not realize that your only going at 50% were as the rope will make you stay at 100%

  • it wont because there's resistance given by the rope that makes it harder

  • so easy!

    and its fun =]

  • Nice arms

  • I don't have enough room in my house to do this and I hate going to the gym :/

I guess I'm stuck with the vanilla jump roping

  • do it in the backyard or front yard, if you are worried about people whatching you who cares? atleast you are getting excercise.

  • Cool!!

my god...i cant even do the 2nd jump...my tempo js sucks

  • so freaakin easssyyy !!! ;)

  • Yeah, trust me on this, jumping rope is the best! When I jump, I do sets of 2000 jumps. I try to do 6000 jumps.

  • He makes it looks easy! I'm not that well coordinated lol

  • looks cool:)
