Seeing them at Grizfest in Tumbler this weekend, out of all these bands Streetheart was so underrrated,I say streetheart people say who? I actually thought for the longest time that this was the original version of Under my Thumb ;D Never heard a song I didn`t like from them and that`s saying something.Never saw a video never bought a record(too young) but they were the band for me.WOOOHOOO, rockin in TR, cheers from BC
@Meaneviljoe seems to be alot of that going around, seeing alot of shaved heads these days and isn`t just the over 40`s either.Who cares what they look like, they can fkn sing, the fake video stars didn`t start till the 80`s....
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!
Go to Live365.com, type OFFTHECHARTS in the Search box and click on the station logo. The audio stream should begin. Become a VIP member and listen commercial free!
was my fav band when i was 15 and is still my fav now , thank you so much for making this its hard to find anything on them like this ..bring me back to the coral in Calgary and standing on the side boards as kenny ran thru the crowd to go on stage singing , they just dont have concerts like that anymore and i wouldnt dare let my kid go to a concert these days - 1 to expensive ,2 gangs and crap, 3 prices hahaha thank s again !!
@SaveyourSavior - you dont think there are gangs in Calgary? pfft you must be a kid to say that or wear blockers on your eyes. As for the nazi comment I thank my grandfather and great uncle who both helped fight in the second world war for helping Us Canadians not to be speaking German right now.
this video is actually, from circa '79 remastered I'm sure for the classic rock MM show, The guitar player is Paul Dean of Loverboy, by '94 he was alot older than in this video, but it's awesome thank you for posting.
@2k8bmac - Yes the vid is from 1979,But Dean is not in either vid,he was on his way to form Loverboy with Frenette soon after this vid,the 2nd guitarist John Hannah is in the UMT vid,and Jeff Neill their 3rd guitar player is in the classic rock festival footage.
I saw these guys back in the Haggars Rock Club days many times. Just listen to Spider play this song. He's one of the best in the business, still to this day......
Love the version of this on Live After Dark. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mick Jager said Streetheart did the best version of this song he's heard. Probably liked the "still gives the best h#@d in town" line lol
Yup love that version, just uploaded the audio track for that, but I had to remove 2 min's of the song in the middle of it cuz of utube limits to include that line. But its really a seemless edit, and a casual fan might not even notice, only the hardcore ones would.lol
This has gotta be the BEST Stones cover ever. I've never heard anybody do a better job!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can ANYBODY find better? I don't think so. Looks like they had a blast doing too. This sounded Great at the Deefoot Inn and Casino in Calgary a couple months ago. Never gets old.
Y'know, I wouldn't have said so 10 minutes ago, and there's been a lot of musical water under the bridge for me since '79. But gawd damn, this was good!
I think very few bands have ever takin a song and truly made it their own from another band (in Canada at least),but Streetheart did it with this one. When i saw the original lineup regroup in 93 for a reunion, they played this song for over 25 mins,I thought i would never hear anything like that again, the highs, lows, fast and slow paced, the build up to the end, getting the crowd involved,MAN! I havent heard anyone come close to playing this song the way they did live, not even the Stones.
Too bad we've been hit with the progression of corporate progress based mostly on lack of talent. The last 20 year progression of music has been geared to quick profit based on looks and beat, sounds like voting Liberal, thus we've screwed ourselves with actual talent that could produce actual melodies that we grew accustomed to. Thank G for youtube!
No wish I did, this was from MM Classic Rock Weekend in Minnedosa from 94,this was all the Streetheart they had from the 4 hour show.Wish they had more Vid's out.
I didn't know they had one till I saw this in 94,a friend of mine who knew the band back in the day had never seen this before untill the last few years.
I think many Street fan's have never seen it before.
It's kinda funny,3 original members of Streetheart are now in Loverboy,Dean,Frenette and Now Spider.Often wonder why the U.S market never got into Streetheart and Loverboy did, must have been the headband-lol
what a great video. oh my they sound great. btw - check out the hot drummer and cool bass player. none other than Matt Frenette and Spider of Loverboy today! Nice... very nice

Mick Jagger himself said that Streetheart's "Under My Thumb" may be better than the original. Oh, and Minnedosa's rock fests started in 1996.

I've been a fan since '79. A great post indeed,and yes,a shame they were'nt as popular in T.O.
That didn't deter me or my sister though!!

Funny seeing Matt Frenette on this. His split with S-heart was acrimonious, and resulted in a Loverboy tune.

You are correct sir! I thought that they wrote this song, it wasn't until years later that I found the original Stones version.
