i think to use fatal steps, you had to have the mob on the ground and then jump on him, to give him more damage.

It's to save time. Since this is a speed run, they want to shave off as many seconds as possible. They kill the one furthest from the exit, as you can only go to the next screen when both people are through, or if one is dead, the other can go through freely.

I used to like double dragon, til i played this game.

Unlike the NES Double Dragon RCR is 2 player, you can buy things at a shop, earn money and EXP, AND keep weapons on you until you DECIDE to get rid of them.

Still it is made by Technos Japan, who made Double Dragon, which is why it includes various DD references like the "Twins" Randy and Andy which are supposed to be Billy and Jimmy Lee.
