I love the noise at 1:14. I just flew out of John Wayne for the first time about a month ago, and it was fantastic. It's also quite a bit cheaper than San Diego, so I'll probably be frequenting SNA more often now.
@williamwilbur This is a TOGA thrust take off, engines are at their maximum capacity. A take off will normally be done with FLEX thrust which means engines will only be at about 80-90% of their power for take off. Only time a take off will be done at full power is if the plane is at MTOW, short runway or if the runway is wet, covered with snow etc.
@mah584jr I guess if you start/end in philly its not a problem, but for me it was a mess connecting through there. So far I haven't made any of my 3 connections in Philly, with 2 cancellations due to maintenance, and 1 due to weather. Also i've never ended up at my final destination city going throught Philly. Maybe I just have bad luck.
@N605JB He's not the only one, I rack up about 200k miles a year on them and 100k on DL. Both are great airlines, as well as my 3-5k on Virgin America annually. You wont see me flying any other airline if thsoe 3 are on a route.
that's such a fast takeoff. were you guys delayed or something ? A pilot doesn't usual spool the engines with brakes on unless its a short runway haha.
@alex9734 There is noise ordinance beyond rwy 19R in Newport Beach. The pilot must spool for power and use a steep roll out to maintain proper altitude and noise over that area
@alex9734 The main reason is the short runway, but there is also a noise abatement policy in Newport Beach so they try to climb as high as possible before cutting the power. There are only like 13 or 14 gates at SNA so delays are rare with my experience. US airways is the best airline also
@alex9734 i think it has to do with the rich assholes that live on the other side of the runway. They don't want to deal with the noise so the planes must take off at steep angles.
Sounds were just awesome!

I love at 1:16 how the birds in the background bail out when the engines are throttled up!

i love at the highway every time i takeoff there because i know the dropping feeling is coming due to the throttle down

How the hell can that takeoff in 23 seconds its normally like 35 seconds!

do you know why stopped the engine sound around the 3:35 minutes...?

@MrLuigigreen
They just slow down

@MrLuigigreen its really a "cool-down" thing where the pilot takes throttles to 60%... It sounds like nothing because the wind mutes it out...

Wow what a awesome takeoff, the A320 is a horse. Btw im also from around philly and fly US Airways alot. They are my favorite airline. :)
Iceman1100x 1 year ago
Why do you fly US Airways so much? I've had terrible experiences the last couple of times ive flown with them and US Airways Express

@N605JB They've really never given too many problems. I'm from Philly so I built up a good bit of miles on them.

unbelievably short takeoff roll, gotta love that takeoff procedure!

Very good job in filming the take off. I've not flown the Airbus, it sounds a bit louder than the Boeing aircraft.

@alex9734 no delays at all. Orange County does have quite a short runway.

@mah584jr Just about a mile long, if I remember correctly. Maybe a hair [longer? shorter?]

@mah584jr so they put one of the biggest planes in the world, on a runway only about a mile long. WHY?
brandon35335 1 month ago
@brandon35335 They would have built the runway longer, but there is no room for expansion.
mah584jr 1 month ago
@mah584jr then its time to knock down someones house for expansion, lol

it is also because SNA has pretty strict noise abatement procedures.

@chadtheweatherguy Umm not quite there is a huge difference between the way an A320 and a 757 sound
