What is the thing you do when the lyrics go "da da da da", tapping your hand as well as the 'chatty hand'? Is it for inane words, or can it also be used for a sustained note?
I was told by a friend that the sign for a sustained note was similar to 'lesbian' but with two fingers. Could you use one of the hand motions you used?
I am a new signer; learning it for fun more than use, but already I'm finding it very useful - I'd love to know more about it, and I'd be very grateful if you'd answer :)
@RainyorSunnyEnding Well usually when I sign like you say an 'inane word' I would spell it out the first couple of times and then use the 'chatty hand' - in this case the lyrics are 'na na na-na' so I'm just spelling out 'n's and then using the 'chatty hand' to repeat that. I'm not necessarily saying that's right, it's just something I've seen on music channels and kind of picked up haha. For a sustained note I would usually just have a flat hand moving (also on music channels.)
Thanks for uploading all of these, they're awesome :) I'm pretty sure the sign for whale is similar, but you don't wiggle your hands if that makes sense? That's how I learnt it anyway! Although saying that, the way you signed 'angel' is the way I learnt 'butterfly', that might just be Makaton though, not BSL, I get confused!! :)
@emmakate93 Ooh actually yeah, I do remember, I think I learned 'whale' as more of a downward, fluid motion? That doesn't make much sense either lol, oh dear! Might well be butterfly as well actually... ahh let's just ignore this video and at some point I'll find my dictionary and check haha :)
I watched this in mute to get the full effect ;)
