This song reminds me of how I feel now from growing up with a rough childhood. My daddy died when I was 9 yrs old, and my mom constantly struggled to make ends meet, plus she had other issues to deal with. I had to go from an 8 yr old kid to a 20 yr old within the year that lead up to my dad's death. I seen more then a kid should've, and I had to grow up before my time. NO child should want to hurry and grow up, because u will regret it. Stay a kid as long as you can!

Never let somebody tell you or make u do something u dont want to. Dont be afraid to say "NO". I didnt date until after I turned 18, I waited to be an adult to start dating and even having sex. I should've waited until I was married, but sometimes things just happen and u end up doing them.

@onequestions I used to play this album everyday for 2 years at home real loud, as in real LOUD like every mornings. Then, as I listened to the songs I meditate and i feel life surrounding me, ofcourse it's not sunny day everyday, yet this made me complete hearing her Buttterfly album,I couldn't say that this is the best but of all albums of her for me yes, definitely one of the best. her albums where she had the songs like "All In Your Mind" is the most unforgettable for me with the Emotions!

Is it me or did Mariah go backwards in her career? You started out singing beautiful ballads, dressed from neck to toe. Then you slowly went from covered up, to revealing, to making songs to compete with the young girls. I miss old Mariah.
@TuReal4Lyfe the "covered up" mariah was not the real mariah. she was literally obliged to dress like that. the only difference is that she's free now to wear/sing/say whatever she wants, which is great.

No doubt IWTKWLI was helped massively by the fact they used it on a popular soap opera over there too...

@ccwe23 Oh please. Have you not listened to Memoirs? That album is clearly aimed at the American market. The production and American slang are clear indicators of that. Mariah was a WW superstar. She's barely relavant in Europe and Britain now though.

@welshangel13 I think that even in her pop/soul years Mariah's success outside of the US has been spotty. The difference between Mariah then and Mariah now is the vocals. To me, TEOM was her first real R&B album but I consider it her closest return to form due to the quality of most of the material and the fact that she was actually sangin. To say she's no longer relevant is a bit of an exageration. She's still well known and respected (by some), she just needs to bring back the voice we fell in love with and stop being so ghetto and silly, in my opinion.

memoirs flooped because, for one, there was no promotion for it what so ever, espcially in the states...I mean they released three singles, THREE while she was on tour before the supposed release os angels advocate, and there was on promotion for either song what so ever, and there were three potential hits right there!...secondly, memoirs didn't fit in at all with the current music scene (a load of dance crap basically), so it never stood a chance, spec without promo
This is one of the most introspective songs I have ever heard in my life. Many ppl have situations like this, but no outlet. I am grateful that Mariah used music as an outlet to relieve the pain of a depressing childhood. She couldve went the wrong way, but she used what GOD gave her. So I count that as a blessing. Mariah's main market is and always has been America. IWTKWLI flopped in every other country except for Japan, France and Brazil. Thats not a big achievement for an artsit of Mariah's callibre now is it? So yes IWTKWLI has overall flopped as a single.

Angels Advocate is a waste of time and concidering both UOMF and AC have flopped im suprised IDJ haven't officially pulled the plug on this project.

Production is poor and sounds the same, the finger snaps on every single song is just ridiculous. I liked the way she used her voice on some of the songs but the songs themselves are forgettable.

yes those songs may not be particularly festive, but if you take lady gaga for example, who it seems has been practically living in the uk the past 3 months, her album has been heavily promoted non stop, as far as the others are conferenced, they are more up-tempo songs which people are more likely listen to during the 'party season'...a slow ballad type song like IWKWLI doesn't fit in anywhere amongst those songs or that time of the year

I feel the same way about them releasing Angels Cry as well. They are both beautiful songs but......lets be realistic here. and I think we will both have to agree to disagree about IWKWLI being a good single choice.. I do actually prefer her cover to the original, which may sound bias, but in all honesty, I never have or probably would have listened to the original because I never cared for the oing much, but I think mariah did a really good job with it...but apart from that, I don't think it ever had chart appeal or was good enough 'competition' to other songs in the charts
well, as the x factor started airing about 3 months before xmas (roughly about august/september time), I would say there was already hype way before then...so there was always going to be support for the certain contestants, as well as all the contestants in general...so around that time of the year, it' s all about xmas songs and the x factor, no one really cares about much else is on the charts

@onequestions I used to play this album everyday for 2 years at home real loud, as in real LOUD like every mornings. Then, as I listened to the songs I meditate and i feel life surrounding me, ofcourse it's not sunny day everyday, yet this made me complete hearing her Buttterfly album,I couldn't say that this is the best but of all albums of her for me yes, definitely one of the best. her albums where she had the songs like "All In Your Mind" is the most unforgettable for me with the Emotions!

Is it me or did Mariah go backwards in her career? You started out singing beautiful ballads, dressed from neck to toe. Then you slowly went from covered up, to revealing, to making songs to compete with the young girls. I miss old Mariah.

@welshangel13 I think that even in her pop/soul years Mariah's success outside of the US has been spotty. The difference between Mariah then and Mariah now is the vocals. To me, TEOM was her first real R&B album but I consider it her closest return to form due to the quality of most of the material and the fact that she was actually sangin. @welshangel13 @ccwe23 Personally, I prefer Mariah's 'old' voice where she would sing with power and passion (I'm not a fan of this 'whispering'); however, I do prefer Mariah's newer material, such as We Belong Together, Joyride, Circles... even Obsessed.
To say she's no longer relevant is a bit of an exageration. She's still well known and respected (by some), she just needs to bring back the voice we fell in love with and stop being so ghetto and silly, in my opinion.

The facts are she won the 'Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist' AMA's in 1993, 1995 and 1996. In the Grammy's Daydream was nominated for Best Pop Album and Fantasy nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance. Hero was nominated again as Best Pop Vocal Performance in 95' and dreamlover in 94'. Mariah was a pop artist.

memoirs flooped because, for one, there was no promotion for it what so ever, espcially in the states...I mean they released three singles, THREE while she was on tour before the supposed release os angels advocate, and there was on promotion for either song what so ever, and there were three potential hits right there!...secondly, memoirs didn't fit in at all with the current music scene (a load of dance crap basically), so it never stood a chance, spec without promo

This is one of the most introspective songs I have ever heard in my life. Many ppl have situations like this, but no outlet. I am grateful that Mariah used music as an outlet to relieve the pain of a depressing childhood. She couldve went the wrong way, but she used what GOD gave her. So I count that as a blessing. She hasn't changed her 'category'. Mariah's been doing rnb and hip hop infused music since Butterfly. It's not so much the type of music thats disappointing a lot of fans. It's the quality. And tbh she isn't fitting in the market atm. Thats why Memoirs flopped and every single after Obsessed flopped. Angels Advocate is a waste of time and concidering both UOMF and AC have flopped im suprised IDJ haven't officially pulled the plug on this project.

Production is poor and sounds the same, the finger snaps on every single song is just ridiculous. I liked the way she used her voice on some of the songs but the songs themselves are forgettable.

yes those songs may not be particularly festive, but if you take lady gaga for example, who it seems has been practically living in the uk the past 3 months, her album has been heavily promoted non stop, as far as the others are conferenced, they are more up-tempo songs which people are more likely listen to during the 'party season'...a slow ballad type song like IWKWLI doesn't fit in anywhere amongst those songs or that time of the year

and I think we will both have to agree to disagree about IWKWLI being a good single choice.. I do actually prefer her cover to the original, which may sound bias, but in all honesty, I never have or probably would have listened to the original because I never cared for the oing much, but I think mariah did a really good job with it...but apart from that, I don't think it ever had chart appeal or was good enough 'competition' to other songs in the charts

well, as the x factor started airing about 3 months before xmas (roughly about august/september time), I would say there was already hype way before then...so there was always going to be support for the certain contestants, as well as all the contestants in general...so around that time of the year, it' s all about xmas songs and the x factor, no one really cares about much else is on the charts
