It just wasn't selling - ticket sales were dire. Shocking giving the multiple 5*s which were being given to it (14 ***** I think I read somewhere). Problem was, to casual audiences it just didn't read right - think of the subject matter.
It's a shame that something this unique can not survive in this age of rehashed films being turned into musicals.
Then again, the original play version caused enough controversy didn't it? Didn't get an uncensored performance for years.

he said "crowded in those trousers" which sounds way better in an english accent. apparently at the beginning in the lyric he said "moody in that hoodie" too, but hated it...
