  • Lol, worst video ever, those are steamed wontons, at one point he actually calls them wontons, LOLZ, wierd how a chinese and confuse shui mai and wontons or dumplings lol

  • the music is so annoying

  • Ok, accorrding to my hearing, the recipe is: 1lbs ground pork 1/4 lbs of shrimp 20 sheets of wonton wrapper 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp blackpepper 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp sesami oil 2 tbsp corn starch Mix all, let sit for 10' Wrap Steam for 16 mins Eat!
  • its good then he put down his chopsticks and leave the room to spit it out

  • His music is too loud he should not play any music while he talks so it is easier to understand...Geeeeeeeeezzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there are 2 kinds of liquid...what are those? was it soy sauce and sesame oil? I can't understand what he said...

  • He music is louder then his voice....

  • Do they give you the pork sweats?

  • lami a ana uy maghimo ko ana... namnam...

  • jesus christ, you'll never find SIU MAI full enclosed , those are called Dumplings.

  • good but can't hear cause the music is loud writ also the recipes thank

  • cannot hear him with this stupid mucis!

  • wow you're so bad

  • If you don't want your shu mai to stick, I have found that adding cabbage to the bottom allows circulation and is less likely to stick to the wrappers than foil. Especially works if you use home made wrappers which are stickier. And it gives your shu mai a more vegetable-like flavor :)

  • Music in tha background very distracting!

  • @parentcoach1 I agree...and I can barely understand his pronunciation,,,Geeeeeezzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!...

  • maknyosss

  • I thought those were wontons o_o

  • Dscription: very "east" to make? lol

  • Is there a recipe on how to make the wonton sheets.I can find them where I live and would like to make them myself if I can

  • Please don't put music to your cooking demos, we can't hear you and I'm watching so I can learn to make this , not to hear this horrible music that's drowning you out. Thank you.

  • how long do u have to steam it?

  • @scarlettdagger89 I believe he said 10 to 15 minutes.. that seems a little long to me but I dunno.

  • These look more like "Wan Tan" than "Siu May" !

  • @MrsVegascrush u mean won ton?

  • better when taught by procedure...

  • That is no siew mai, it's a wanton. Siew mai don't look like that, and yes, it's SIEW mai.

  • please remake this video without the music. The gentleman's voice can barely be heard and it's so important to hear him without the tacky music. Sounds like tv show music...please remake this video! Otherwise, i love you!

  • well the music is strange and i can hardly hear the voice, but the presentation is good :-)

  • @askTingTing I agree with you, this is the strangest soundtrack ever.

  • A lot of Chinese people like to pleat the won ton wrappers. It isn't that hard, plus it looks better to pleat the wrapper around the filling.

  • Music too high, cant hear you talk! Need to hear instructions

  • UP NEXT: Cream of Sum Young Gaj.

  • man!yr music is louder than yr voice...

  • Minus the music being too loud, great video.

  • even though the sound is too loud but nice simple instructions......

  • yes, "Shu mai is very east to make" lol ~description~

  • good vid but the music does suck!

  • Thanks for the instructions but the background music is far too loud and very annoying.

  • Hey mryuck206,

You should go fuck yourself and leave other people alone. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's pointless to post your ignorant comments so you can make a complete idiot out of yourself. It's a shame.

  • lol xD

    it was acually helpful

but i would assume you would season the paste more

i'd like to see also HOW you made the paste.

  • what happened to the shrimp

  • I can't even understand the instructions in this video. Music should be removed altogether.

  • I just made this. Turned out like at the restaurants. I made mine with tops open though. I like it that way. Thank you. Was awesome.

    Lisa

  • i actually enjoed the music hahahaha but its funny that you say it sounds like old school porno music hahahahaha it does

  • the music make the video so bad

  • better with no music

  • good but it would have been alot better without the music

  • has anyone else seen this guys other vids? it seems like every recipe consists of the same ingredients. is it just me or is everything marinated in cornstarch, soy sause, sesame oil, salt, and oyster sause? either Kai has it all wrong or that's all chinese food really consists of? help please

  • omg the music is lame XD

  • I love it !!! I've been looking for a siomai this simple ^^

  • how can it call “siu Mai”?

    No shimp inside

  • BLAND FILLING!

  • This is no Shu Mai... I'm a Chinese (HK) and I know what this looks like.

  • I don't care what he says... that is blatantly a won ton! Though i suppose it's not as bad as "How to make Shu mai - Chinese dim sum" The womans making the filling with rice??!!

  • @wokchan53 A won ton is a fish Dim Sum......this one is made with ground pork and shrimp......so it's called Shu Mai Dim Sum.....

  • so do we mix the peper, salt, shuger, soi sauce, sesime oil and the meat togeather?

  • look like dumpling than siew mai -.-

there no vegetables too & it is too skinny

    need more filling

  • @errruu yeah thats what i thought too, its a won ton!

  • The music is a little loud, but thanks for sharing.

  • thank you for shared how to make it....

  • seems more like wantons or dumplings. I thought shumai's filling was supposed to be visible?

  • Great but music is too loud, cant hear what you're saying

  • looks more like won ton than sui mai...

  • looks more like won ton than sui mai...

    : |

  • It's not siew mai at all! Where are the prawns? Without it, it's not siew mai.... But quite a nice and simple recipe though. (:

  • nice

  • Well let's do not argue . This guy just get confused and does not know what he is talking about ....... it's neither wonton or shiu mai . It's called " steamed meat in wonton wrap" this makes better sense now.

  • ur the one that cant tell the difference dumbass, this is siu mai, home made style, i know it doesnt look like the dim sum restaurant but thats becasue its homemade

  • "homemade" like your mom..your face looks like a siu mai.. i mean a turd

  • lol this is shu mai. He was not too generous enough to stuff more fillings, making the result more like wontons instead.

  • nothing beat the stuff in china man, food is delicious there

  • Legion has it that dim sum use to be foods for the emperiors & royalty. It was said that they have highly developed taste buds and will not settle for anything less than extaordinary foods.

So they imposed on their subjects to create these extradinary small bite size goodies to tempt the most discerning taste buds.

  • This is not a Shu mai ...is wanton

  • Its not a shu mai actually, this is called wanton. In hongkong, the shu mai's meat should be shown, and not covered by the wanton wrapper. I visited many countries, shu mai shouldnt look like this. While wanton is what this guy is doing, with the wrapper covering all the meat.

  • well its shu mai because they steam it , since wontons have to be boiled.

it would have been nice if he stuffed more meat in it so it shows at the opening

  • in canton sui mai dont look like that. this looks like wanton. wrong man

  • why people always alk about the background music.. i think the video its lovely, its very good

  • thats not shumai....

  • I love shumai!

  • man i love those...wouldnt mind eating them for the rest of my life!

  • I like to fill it up fully (Don't push ends of wonton wrap together) and have the beef showing out of the top. :) Got used to eating it at a chinese resturant. (I'M ASIAN ASWELL(CHINESE))

  • its a good video but i have to rewatch each part cuz of the music

  • omg! It is Jiaozi, not shu mai!!!

  • actually it is shu mai

  • No its not? Jiaozi is dumpling!

  • the music is too loud...unwatchable.

  • the music is too loud.

  • uy shomia paborito ko!

  • How do you make the shumai dipping sauce? The ingredients, please.

  • the red one is just sriracha hot sauce, and the black one is plain hoisin sauce

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm shu mai

  • i made these today!

  • sounds like old school porno music

  • hahahahahaha! ftw!

  • heath11:

haha... but it's the limbo rock!

  • @heath11 no doubt!

  • @heath11 That's because Dimsum secretly means Dipp Some.....LOL

  • @heath11 so true, so true

  • @heath11

it's limbo rock, one kind of dancing

  • @heath11

    hahahhahahahahhaaah .........:)

  • @heath11 how would you know what old school porno music sound like?

  • @heath11 i thought porn music was like BOW CHIKA WOW WOW. not old people asian music.

  • lmao people its not one ton or 1ton is wonton =]

  • ha that one ton wrap comment has made me piss myself

  • Thanks for the lesson!

Why, is that the 'bibi-babka song' from Perfect Strangers, circa 1986, playing in the background?

  • love this thank you

  • 1 ton wrap? Isn't that too heavy?

  • not 1 ton. Wonton... LOL

  • HAHAHHA OMG 1 TON WRAP. you're so funny.

  • i never see a Shu mai like these

  • me either .

  • can i don't put sugar? i hate sweet...

  • Dude, remove the music. It makes the directions pretty hard to understand.

  • Just turn off the sound he he hee

  • what was the cornstarch for? and sugar?

  • Comment removed

  • please edit video by adding captions and a list of spices that went into the meat mixture. also, i agree on voiding out the foil. try grape leaves or even corn husks. parchment paper will work also.

  • siu mai .. not shu mai

  • There are tons of way to spell it correctly.

  • but shu mai is not how you pronounce it, so ..

  • You can find the best tasting Shumai at Yokohama station kiosk.

If you had a chance, go there and try it.

  • .i lke the music also.........

  • actually, instead of using foil wrapper, I would suggest using a leaf of lettuce

  • 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. ground pepper 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tsp. sesame oil 2 tbsp. corn starch 1 lb. ground pork 1/4 lb. shrimp, finely chopped Mix and chill ingredients (probably optional?) Make dumpling (shown) Steam for 10 to 15 minutes. Ok I made this a few days ago, steamed for 13 minutes, and i found them to be over done, so i'd say 11 to 12 is probably good.
  • jack jump over candlestick.

  • LOl....yeah...it's not actually Chinese music. It's western music but Chinese cover of western music. Yeah...it's a bit cheesy :)

  • As a chinese , I have to say:" you are genius!"

  • It looks easy. Thanks for posting.

  • great vid man! thanks

  • what did he do with the corn starch?

  • He needs to get rid of the horrible music. It makes it difficult to hear his instructions and it is totally annoying. I would love to hear the cooking instructions without any music!

  • DIM SUM + KIDS = YAY :]]

  • not even showed what he did with the pork

  • Yes he said 10 t0 fifteen minutes in the steamer. I had to put the speaker to my ear to hear it over the music.

  • This could be a very good video..... but the music is louder than his voice and very distracting.

  • asian version of meatballs..lol!..we make this every christmas and any other ocassion

  • DId he say steam for 15mins?

  • yum yum dim sum :P~~~

  • great vid. they come out super yummy.

  • what about siu lung bow? i dont know if i wrote it right.Shanghai style can you make a video?

  • isn't the filling about the same...but you use mon tou bread instead of wonton wrappers? and then...it isn't steamed either is it? isn't siu lung bow more like...fried?

  • i read about this in stanford wong flunks big time

  • what makes it green? isnt it like wonton o.o

  • Very nicely done.

  • Can you please teach me how to make a squid balls too? because I try to find it in you tube but there is none. Thank in advance and More power to you.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm loverly

  • That's a very big teaspoon. :)

  • its easier to close the "wonton wrapper" lol,

if you wet your fingers with water, and close em that way

  • That's wonton and not what he saids

  • His bamboo steamer has never been used before this

  • Shouldn't there be sticky rice and some chopped mushrooms in it too? Why do you use tin foil? Wouldn't nappa cabbage be better and more authentic?

  • that different shumai some people uses different ingrediants

  • the music cracks me up :D but I like it...although it's a biiit too loud.

But thanks for showing us how to make them!

    I just looove Dim Sum!

Too bad I do not have those stuff to make them at home.

But I'm going to a chinese restaurant tomorrow, and of course, I will order the every Dim Sum dish :9

  • easy. buy dim sum wrapper minced pork a bottle of soy sauce and seasame oil and of course keep for other uses and basic home ingredients sugar salt and pepper and add some shrimps to the mixed ingredients. choped and corn starch easy to find =D even in western markets

  • lmao! me too. I go to a chinese buffet that plays this music and it's friggin hilarious!

  • Video is great but the

music is way to loud &

    cant hear what your saying.

  • the music lol :D

  • LoL the music correcto ^^

  • what did he do with the corn starch? did he mix everything in the bowl? this isnt explained good enough...i wanna make some...but this isnt clear enough for someone to follow along...

  • he mixed it all together with other ingredients

  • corn starch mixed with the pork and sesame oil and everything except the wrapper?

  • Normally you make it different, and it looks different, this is kind of more in the category of STEAMED won ton since its fully wrapped and a little bit of the ingredients are different, nice job though. By the way for the person who was talking about the circle shaped wraps, they commonly use it for potstickers =]

  • you can buy the wonton wrappers at ross.

  • where i can buy the wrapper ?pls .answer?

  • You can go to an Asian grocery store to find them. It looks like a "wonton" wrapper from this video.

  • thx,i will check that nex time .i saw one but its not like that th square one its circle .and its thick not soft like wonton wrapper .thx for the info .

  • no problem and enjoy!

  • You are a great cook!

  • no music next time!!!

  • I love shu mai! I noticed the ingredients are exactly the same for your dumplings (boiled and fried).

  • wow thank you very much! i can finally make one of my favorite chinese dishes without going to a resturaunt! the music was a bit too loud for my liking tho.

  • also making this over an open fire might add a nice smokey flavor.

  • Very nicely done. I like your videos.

  • I too agree the music was too loud to hear him talking but we so enjoyed the recipe. I followed it exactly the way he made it. Only thing was my won ton wrappers came out a bit gooey think they need to have cooked longer. Might of had to do w/ the fact I used a much larger basket and made 10 dumplings per basket...other than that they were very good! We thought we would have some for the next day but the 3 of us ate 60 of them that night!!lol Thank You for a scrumptious recipe!

  • saomai not look like saomai . wonton not look like wonton.

  • thank you for this.

    this is pretty cool.

though it seems like part of it was cut.

did u just mix everything then set aside? chill? or something?

    do continue and make more!

    c",)

  • OMG - the loud music was driving me INSANE!! I think it was getting louder, and I couldn't hear a word of the instruction.. was this a joke?

  • wow,..that's how they make it,...now see how i video it !
