  • another great depiction.....judith and holofernes by Gentileschi.....its amazing

  • Love this work, but in my opinion "Judith Slaying Holofernes" by Artemesia Gentileschi is much better. If any of you are yet to see it, you should definitely check it out. The blood is depicted with far more reality, and the richness of the dress palates are unbelievable. Not at all saying Gentileschi was better than the Great Awesomeness that was Caravaggio, just that Gentileschi seemed to handle that particular topic with a bit more passion.

  • @ohjujubeeme i totally agree....didnt know it was the same artist until after i posted my comment..

  • @ohjujubeeme she looks more determined in gentileschi's peice......she looks kinda grossed out and unsure in this one...

  • Love the painting

its just....she sliced his head like piece of bread

  • Oh, dear. He is still much too rare. Going to have to roast for at least another hour. How will I keep the guests entertained in the meantime?

  • The Music is Captain Digerie piper's Galliard by John Dowland.

  • how erotic this is can just imagine that happening to me and if you behaved well never would have happened

  • I remember reading about this painting. Holofernes was related to royalty, which made him a leader of a certain group of people. The was selfish and did bad things to Judith's people, so she snook into his house, got him drunk and chopped his head off. Amazing painting.

  • Judith is a book in the Greek canon (the Septuagint) of the old testament. It can be found online at the University of Virginia and I'm sure at other places too. The original issues of the King James (1611) edition carried the book and the modern translations of the Latin Vulgate also have this book.

  • He was a Babylonian General and she was a Jewish leader. They were at war so she snuck into his tent when he was drunk and beheaded him with his own sword. She stuck his head on the battlements and his men were too scared to fight :)

  • thank you for this video.

  • Masterful !

  • Very well done

  • Bravo per il video dedicato al mio capolavoro peferito!

  • Excellent tour of this fabulous painting, and great choice of music!

  • I would not want to be married to this woman!

  • My favourite painting. Caravaggio is the greatest Italian artist, but his concept of history was not very accurate. In his painting of Christ's crucifixion the Romans are depicted wearing armour that would have been very modern by Caravaggio's time; although Christ was crucified over a thousand years before Caravaggio's life.

  • Caravaggio,he is baroque great artist,

    his realism is nice.

I read Judith in bible apocrifa.

I wonder old testament doesn't mention

    her.other edition mentioned Judith.
