yes a 16"/54 cal gun can toss a 2,300 lb shell 38 miles inland, but firing one into an urban environ gives you massive collateral damage. and from what the projections show, the AGS, if it lives up to it's hype will toss 2 98lb shells at a single building 110 miles from muzzle, with a CEP of less than 50m

yes. accuracy to within 1m. an AGS LR shell can have a blast radius to disable a sniper to within 10m.

what the hell kind of question is that, of course. A sniper is a high priority target, they can fuck up a mission with a single bullet. It's not overkill at all.

No, the railgun's still experimental. The Navy does intend to put railguns into new ships, but the AGS is not the railgun.

Missiles are too destructive for small targets, expensive and take a long time to plan. This weapon system can deliver 20+ lbs high explosive within GPS accuracy in 3 to 6 minutes from over 70 miles away!

bfd, there is no new technology here. these concepts are useless to the chinese. can you imagine them doing a "non-combatant evacuation?" i would rather have them stealing stuff like this they can not use rather than taking something important.
