There are différents kind of people, sometimes, doing less is better and sometimes people need to explain themselves with many words or sounds ; until what you do speak by itself ; the important thing is playing like giving a présent for those who stop by listening to you. Comparison does not mean, there are two types of music ; bad or good ! take care.
Indeed. You can never really class any music as bad music if it manages to achieve what it sets out to do, or if it completes the purpose of entertaining, or portraying something through the music played/created.
Don't get me wrong. A like Hendrix.. a lot. But i think of him more as an oustanding musician than as a great guitar player. Never understood why people regard him as a guitar hero.
I think merely his fresh approach to the guitar and music in general, almost creating his own genre is what inspired a lot of people. However, i dont see how you can compare a gipsy jazz guitarist to jimi hendrix at all, as jimi was about new ideas and expanding the instruments uses rather than gipsy jazz was about passing on a tradition of music. Girliegirlie17 does not know what they're on about
Ok what Im on about is the way Jimi can make every hair on your body stand on end-Jazz guitar appeals to the mind, but Jimi gets right through to the emotions - capice?
Might be semantics but the term jazz is rather generic and doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Matter of personal taste anyhow. This night i was lucky to see the lollo meier quartet with Tcha Limberger on violin in my local town. You might call it jazz, to me it put an instant smile on my face, ¿comprende? :-)
I understand what you're saying, and yeah, hendrix does have that effect on you. But you know, there is such a contrast bewteen innovation and tradition y'kno and so comparing them is like comparing erm...john pizzarelli to john mclaughlin, the thing is, both of them still fall under the same genre if you get me? I guess there are different purposes behind different genres of music.
Ok John I agree that the comparison doesn't stand -different genres of music altogether. Nice to have a civilised debate on Youtube tho (for a change). All the best, Girliegirlie17.
Must be a misunderstanding. Perhaps a foreign language expression translated into english? We dutchies also have our share of goofs when speaking english :-)
Bello! Te la prendi se ti dico che dovevi prendere ancora un po' di confidenza con la chitarra? Forse l'action era più alta di quanto fossi abituato, o magari prima suonavi nylon... comunque bravo davvero!
This is a great guitar solo.

The sound quality really is bad but your playing is very good. Interesting. Kind of Django meets De Lucia. 5 stars.

So what?? Another boring Jazz solo - none of these guys can hold a fucking candle to Jimi Hendrix.
