  • This song is liquid gold .... such beautiful, melancholy lyrics and Morrissey's voice is so soft and fluid against the guitar, bass and drums .... one of their best songs .... :)

  • what painting is this. its beautiful?

  • @LedSledJoe It's a piece by the late Atkinson Grimshaw - A Victorian landscape painter.

  • I'm going to 40 soon and still listen to the smiths and never change the radio station when it comes on. They should be played more often besides 80's days.

  • My second fave smiths song. Just brilliant. And I am 35

  • Brandi Belle

  • muito bonita a melodia dessa musica

  • I think I'm in love with this song. It's so perfect...and his voice. just brilliant.

  • this song is too coooooooooooooooool

  • Best album of all time.

  • @EngineG9999 yes yes yes!!!

  • Oh my God. I almost forgot this song. It's beautiful! Its like listening to the best of The Beatles without copying them. They were original. So sad, so true. And yes - life is sad. Just ask anyone living life.

  • where is this image from? i love it. i want it.

  • i listened to the Smiths a lot when I was in college in 86-89 but mainly just Strangeways.I just now have started listening to them again and their early stuff is like listening to a new band for me its wonderful

  • This song is so poetic <3

And the way Morrissey sings is amazing, very elegantlty

  • Thats it, I love him, I wont live another man ever.

  • REAL MUSIC... now we're talking<3

  • Perfect song

  • THIS PICTURE HAS FREAKED OUT MY EYES

  • @BansheeMilk if you like this then you might want to check out Mr. Morrissey.

  • 18 ... and loving this band.

  • @Lucer0h stay close to the music scene and see lots of bands, who knows, perhaps sometime you'll catch something as special as The Smiths or Joy Division before they get too big or disband altogether

  • @poppy1914 the picture is changing quality so it seems that way

  • The greatest northern singer and painter.

  • @JohnPurchaseArt i think messrs lennon, mccartney, gallagher, gallagher, curtis, mavers, sumner, hucknall et al might disagree.

  • @johnsmith4442 Mark E. Smith

  • @MegaPaddyo

I agree!, one of my fav's has always been this song!

  • its moving.

  • @poppy1914 No but the song certainly is

  • MOZ FOREVER

  • im 46 next month!! lol

  • @poppy1914 it is moving!

  • This song is BRILLIANT. As is the painting.

  • One person (currently) dislikes this, it must be a troll...

  • i feel SOOO chill right now....

    song+painting in the background=success

i want to listen to this for like 20 min. in a bathtub

  • @elcansler

    lol

  • Amazing song. But then again EVERY Smiths song is amazing. The only band I can truly say that I love every song.

  • save your life, cuz you've only got one....

  • save your life cuz u only got 1( words to live by=])

  • "wrap her up in the News of the World"...can't do that anymore.

  • Isolated in my room. Away from society. Drowning in Morrissey lyrics and haunting melody... how i miss the good old days.

  • @poppy1914 haha its going in and out of blurr seems likes its moving

  • why is everyone mentioning how old they are?

  • @LoekvanBeers14 Because all of the older The Smiths fans are coming out of hiding to express how much they enjoy this song.

  • @SINthetikTerror This song i remember, but i won't keep me awake

  • @SINthetikTerror i agree with you.a lot of young man wear the smith shirt now.they only know the smith by his name not with their songs.kkkkkoya

  • @LoekvanBeers14

    18 xD

  • @LoekvanBeers14

I don´t. Because my nickname says it all. 43.

  • @LoekvanBeers14 Because we want people to know that you don´t have to be old to like good music, like The Smiths...

  • @Misducky03 Okay you're absolutely right, but it seems to be that people younger than 20 or something like that think they're cool if they like The Smiths. I'm not even from England and I really like them to, but that doesn't make sense either. In my opinion at least...

  • @poppy1914 hahahahhahah youre under influence or what? hahahahha good bro this music was make to fly

  • oh god children ye're making me feel my age. I was in my early teens and as such was too young to be cool enough to be a Smiths fan!!! I'm 39 now and am wondering where the hell my life went since drowning in music like this for a the want of something better to do living at home with the family of origin!! happy and sad memories abound and still these songs are relavent, pure genius.

  • And I'm not happy and I'm not sad... Oh, this brings back memories of my youth as well as potential ones. youth is wasted on the youth.

  • @poppy1914 No, it must be that you're entranced by the music, friend!

  • No, it must be that you're entranced by the music, friend!

  • I am 14 and I love it!

  • Found the Smiths when I was 21 at turn of century. im 32 now..theyre still definately kickin ass. Love them

  • "Hatful of hollow" e' il migliore disco degli Smiths, che unisce la grande qualita' musicale della band e la voce di Morrissey. Senz' altro uno tra i piu' alternativi e polivalenti gruppi British degli anni '80.

  • As a fan of atdi its sad to say that they butchered the cover.

  • No modern music could live up to this.

  • One of my favourite Smiths tracks. Pure poetry. I still love the Smiths but could never get into Morrissey as a solo artist. Don't know why. He just doesn't do it for me.

  • How sad The Smiths fell out.....such a wonderful legacy they left...very few bands have all four members that fit perfectly together to produce amazing song after amazing song !

  • omg gota get dis downloaded again da album is swollen wid efferescent best <3

  • @picerijakamikaze

A good picture for this song would be someone dropping a foetus in the river.

She took away your troubles, but then again she left pain.

  • perfect song

  • nice recording

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love every thing about it but my Favorited part is "the dream has gone but the baby is real" ....

  • I wish i was alive in 1984.

  • Great Tune Was lucky enough to see them in 86 at the Civic. Will always be my favourite band. Thanks MOZZA your a GOD

  • does anyone else notice the picture going in and out of focus, sort of like its moving lol

  • This song only works in the dark/at night. Amazing stuff by Marr.

  • I love the pic.

  • My personal favorite from The Smiths

  • this sounds like it could of been written recently, great sound

  • Oooh! Save your life... 'cause you've only got one...

  • @picerijakamikaze It's a piece by a Victorian landscape painter by the name of John Atkinson Grimshaw.

  • @SINthetikTerror a very great picture it is indeed

  • @SINthetikTerror i recently got this song on the vinyl album louder than bombs and i have watched this video so many times when i listened to the record its hard to listen to with out this painting to veiw.

  • first time hearing this one ! n im a huge fan ! i love it :):):)

  • Such a good song. Lyrics are great, as always with the Smiths, and the Bass is perfect. I'm new to smiths, and I already love them. I'm so glad I have them. If anyone is looking for more good tunes, listen to The Catholic Comb. They're a small band, but they're incredible. My favorite of all time.

  • @dontskatenike

As soon as you enter the smiths , they will neve let you go. Try also Morrissey , he is amazing .

  • another Andy Rourke, the man needs more recognition in life as his basswork is simply fantastic

  • nice

  • What a genius band.

  • Goes along with the song...

  • the bass in this track is kick axe....

  • Andy Rourke one of the GREATEST Bass Players EVER!!!

  • id never heard this one before... absolutely perfect.

  • Just incredible...

  • Nice painting there, who's the artist?

  • i love thiiiis song <3

  • The title of this song is not "Hatful of Hallow", but "This night has opened my eyes"

    beautiful song

  • Thanks for the correction, I edited it.

  • one of my favorite songs of them, thx for uploading this.

  • simply beautiful, such a poet

  • and i'm not happy and i'm not sad. wow. we need to start a why you started listening to the smiths group on here cause almost all of their lyrics just sum up my life.

  • the dream has gone but the baby is real

  • well, andy rourke? how about jonny marr, morrissey.

  • such a terrifiic song

  • This night has opened my eyes. Bass lines r so dark and amazing, Andy Rourke u r so underrated!!!

  • Oh yeah, I have to state that the composition of this song if fucking amazing, also. Listen to how the drums, lead guitar, and bass guitar work so well with each other. If only we could get great musicians out there like that again. Oh noooooo that statement means I mad it to the level of a old man-LOL! Thanks greatly for posting this. I'm going to rebuild my Smiths colleciton again.

  • No problem. I love the mood that The Smiths invoke, although sometimes I wonder if I'm a bit out of the loop do to my age, and when The Smiths came out in relation to that. I'm almost 27.

  • @SINthetikTerror

In a hundred years that will make you a contemporary, don't worry.

  • @taocircle Yes, I'd definitely say that's an old man thing to say, haha. But you're not alone. These boards are loaded w/ people who grew up in the 80's decrying the state of music today. "There's no good bands anymore, blah blah." Well, I grew up in the 80's...and you know what, I decided to actually look for good bands, not just expect them to be played on the radio. Believe me, there are still plenty of great bands around today. Okay, maybe not any as good as the Smiffies, but still...

  • I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!!! I was so blasted as a black child for proudly listening to this! If so many more from my culture could hear this song they would love the fuck out of this man!!!!!

  • Oh, those guitars are pure soul

  • And Im Not Happy And Im Not Sadd (8)
