This song is liquid gold .... such beautiful, melancholy lyrics and Morrissey's voice is so soft and fluid against the guitar, bass and drums .... one of their best songs .... :)
I'm going to 40 soon and still listen to the smiths and never change the radio station when it comes on. They should be played more often besides 80's days.
Oh my God. I almost forgot this song. It's beautiful! Its like listening to the best of The Beatles without copying them. They were original. So sad, so true. And yes - life is sad. Just ask anyone living life.
i listened to the Smiths a lot when I was in college in 86-89 but mainly just Strangeways.I just now have started listening to them again and their early stuff is like listening to a new band for me its wonderful
@Lucer0h stay close to the music scene and see lots of bands, who knows, perhaps sometime you'll catch something as special as The Smiths or Joy Division before they get too big or disband altogether
@Misducky03 Okay you're absolutely right, but it seems to be that people younger than 20 or something like that think they're cool if they like The Smiths. I'm not even from England and I really like them to, but that doesn't make sense either. In my opinion at least...
oh god children ye're making me feel my age. I was in my early teens and as such was too young to be cool enough to be a Smiths fan!!! I'm 39 now and am wondering where the hell my life went since drowning in music like this for a the want of something better to do living at home with the family of origin!! happy and sad memories abound and still these songs are relavent, pure genius.
"Hatful of hollow" e' il migliore disco degli Smiths, che unisce la grande qualita' musicale della band e la voce di Morrissey. Senz' altro uno tra i piu' alternativi e polivalenti gruppi British degli anni '80.
One of my favourite Smiths tracks. Pure poetry. I still love the Smiths but could never get into Morrissey as a solo artist. Don't know why. He just doesn't do it for me.
How sad The Smiths fell out.....such a wonderful legacy they left...very few bands have all four members that fit perfectly together to produce amazing song after amazing song !
@SINthetikTerror i recently got this song on the vinyl album louder than bombs and i have watched this video so many times when i listened to the record its hard to listen to with out this painting to veiw.
Such a good song. Lyrics are great, as always with the Smiths, and the Bass is perfect. I'm new to smiths, and I already love them. I'm so glad I have them. If anyone is looking for more good tunes, listen to The Catholic Comb. They're a small band, but they're incredible. My favorite of all time.
and i'm not happy and i'm not sad. wow. we need to start a why you started listening to the smiths group on here cause almost all of their lyrics just sum up my life.
Oh yeah, I have to state that the composition of this song if fucking amazing, also. Listen to how the drums, lead guitar, and bass guitar work so well with each other. If only we could get great musicians out there like that again. Oh noooooo that statement means I mad it to the level of a old man-LOL! Thanks greatly for posting this. I'm going to rebuild my Smiths colleciton again.
No problem. I love the mood that The Smiths invoke, although sometimes I wonder if I'm a bit out of the loop do to my age, and when The Smiths came out in relation to that. I'm almost 27.
@taocircle Yes, I'd definitely say that's an old man thing to say, haha. But you're not alone. These boards are loaded w/ people who grew up in the 80's decrying the state of music today. "There's no good bands anymore, blah blah." Well, I grew up in the 80's...and you know what, I decided to actually look for good bands, not just expect them to be played on the radio. Believe me, there are still plenty of great bands around today. Okay, maybe not any as good as the Smiffies, but still...
I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!!! I was so blasted as a black child for proudly listening to this! If so many more from my culture could hear this song they would love the fuck out of this man!!!!!
This song is liquid gold .... such beautiful, melancholy lyrics and Morrissey's voice is so soft and fluid against the guitar, bass and drums .... one of their best songs .... :)
