@akropiss they are proudly made in Canada, and their guards deservedly wear them. But they originated in European uniform, the Grenadier were permitted to wear them after Waterloo.
We Remember them because they are & where our People, our fathers, grandfathers, brothers, sons, daughters!i saw you say not "Afghanistan or Iraq" but these lads are no different from those who fell in the 1st,2nd,NI,Faulklands etc etc i doubt if many of us agree with the War,in the Mid East but just as before our boys are only doing their job and once they are out there its them against taliban i give our boys 100% as they go into the daily battles, God Bless Them All
It matters not where they fight, but that they DO fight, wherever and whenever they are called upon so to do.
Where neccessary, they can also show compassion and pity - this is one of the most honorable traits of the fighting man (and woman!) that they can tell the difference and act accordingly.
We ALL owe them so very much and should NEVER denegrate - they go where they are told and have little if any choice where that may be- Bless them all - friend or foe!
@Factnotfictionpeople You are absolutely right! Also we must always remember the old saying ' Right or wrong! it is my country' My father, like me a career soldier, he always said that!
20 years! a lot of service, being a scouscer I would have opted for the Navy, but as a youngster I would have had to sign on for twenty years, and my old man would not sign,so I have spent a life in industry, you are a musician as well then?
OK MR Militery man,I stand corrected, but I think most of the general public, would know it as Rememberance Sunday Parade,I allways watch it allthough I was never in the armed forces,I think it is important to remember what people went through in the two great wars.
I do not however feel the same about Iraq or Afganistan.
Only corrected you as I'm in the Band on this video.. Been in the Regiment 20 years..
Wouldn't really like to air my personal views on Iraq & Afghan on here only to say that I fully support our guys & girls and members of my regiment out there.. I don't agree with what our politicians are doing & deciding though...
hats are worn by officers, both serving and retired. guardsmen wear blazers with regimental badge on pocket.Apart from the band all those on parade are ex serving guardsmen.
God damn it you British sure have style :D

Its "The Festival of Remenberance"
donnycross 3 years ago
It is the Regimental Remembrance Day for The Grenadier Guards Regiment. Known within the regiment as "Black Sunday".......
The Festival of Remembrance is in November at the Royal Albert Hall, Just before the Cenotaph Parade on Whitehall....
