@gazzas46zs Dál Riata only included what's now Antrim and Derry - very Tiny indigenous part of the land, the very far north-East tip of the land, they had more in common with the Great British nations. So GAYLICK Irish only existed in Antrim and Derry, they sent Columba to Scotland to preach Christianity to try get Caledonian Scottish Picts out of Paganism, but the stubornly clinged on at first before they went and adopted it themselves on their own accord.

@gazzas46zs Yes there was such thing as Hibernia, its what the Romans called Ireland when they seen it, it was Latin for the 'land of winter'. The Romans called the Scots as Caledonian, which meant 'Land of the hard men'.
Romans Latinised every word they came across, the way English Anglicise every word.
Romans latinised...
Ireland = Hibernia
Scotland = Caledonia
England + Wales = Britannia
Hibernia and Caledonia were the only unconquered parts.
Britannia = an extended province of Rome.

Dál Riata was no more significant to Scotland than the Norse were, insignificant temporal 1/4 the size of Scottish Pict population, and vastly outnumbered by the Caledonian Scottish Picts.
Celt is a modern term, 'Keltoi' does not go back further than 800BC, as I said, they're not indigenous.

'Celtic' was originally used in the mid 1800's to link language similarities and group them together as a single group, before this time, the word was never heard off or mentioned.
The Romans only came to these isles after 100AD, at which time some Celts were there by this time, but only by 800 years prior to this. Before then, never.
