  • very helpful, thank you very much for this videos.

  • You lean forward a lot. My school did not do Ka like this at all. Our strike was more downward, like a stomach punch. Then we lifted up into Jumonji and then struck.

  • @NinjaRunningWild I was taught that Ka was straight through. I may have leaned a bit far foward in an attempt to exagerate the movement for the camera.

  • @N0buhide Sure, straight through is correct. Like hitting the guy with a series of fireballs. But just without giving up your good posture for the sake of hitting the guy.

  • @NinjaRunningWild Fireballs LOL. When are they gonna teach how to shoot fireballs from out fingertips?

  • @N0buhide It's Called Street Fighter 2. You have to do that whole semi-circle-Attack combo with Ken or Ryu. Good game. But, I do think fireballs shooting out of your fingers is going to be the theme of 2012. Shhh! I said nothing!

  • dude, finally someone who teches REAL ka no kata. But, one little correction: You must to block the punh by the off side of the punch, not by the inside, because you're an easy target to the other hand.

  • Im very pleased with this, I recently started in bujinkan (forgive any mistakes).

And my current sensei does not wish to do videos. tho the reference is such a huge help when trying to study after class.

It does not matter to what effect one does the technique as long as it helps for a reference. thank you again and please keep posting :)

  • The explanations aren't bad, but the execution is disappointing. There's no feeling behind the techniques you do, they all just look like memorized movements, not as if you were in a real fight. Just my bit of constructive criticism.

  • Thank you for your feedback, we'll definitely consider this when looking over future techniques or if we decide to get more thorough with the kata. Its all about the intent and feeling so if we're not translating that, then we need to get on it.

  • @luxsato I was trying to show gogyo in the most basic way possible. When teaching it there ARE memorized movements involved. I had the feeling in my head. It's hard to incorperate feeling into the motion when you are going really really slow. It seems like it's easier for me to really put feeling into the elements when i'm doing sanshin no gata by myself at a combat pace with hard strikes. Gogyo is one of those things that you never ever finish learning. I am STILL struggling with it!

  • Your videos are highly instructive and very informative. Sumimasen and domo arigato gaimasu. Question. Are you familiar with the Hannya Shin Kyo and its ability to enhance the

    feeling of Ku?

  • You are most welcome. It is our hope that these videos may provide another perspective and supplement another fellow student's training. As for your question, I will see if Mr. Erwin can provide an answer for I cannot at this time.

  • @ehfakir I had never heard of the term "hannyashinkyo" I looked it up and it is a zen "sutra" or spoken prayer that means "the heart of the matter" from what I read. I hope i was reading the correct text. We do have kuji in(mudra or praying with hands[finger weaving], and sutra but they are different and unique to this ryuha. We will not cover that online.

  • Is this jumonji no kamae as first posture? It is also a sort of a ka no kamae, so it is logical that ka no kata use it.

  • @hostihugen Yes, it is a sort of foward jumonji no kamae. Very good observation.

  • What rank is that belt?

  • @BiBy360 I am the head instructor of the dojo. My student is now a shodan.

  • Fuck that guy. I respect Kata very much and anyone who disagrees is an asshole.

  • simply horrible. ridicoulus.

  • So is your spelling and sentence structure, not to mention your ability to effectively communicate a message. If you don't like what other people do and aren't willing to offer constructive criticism as to why you are not satisfied with something, keep it to yourself. Maybe then you won't expose your painful lack of intelligence to the public, people may like you and you won't have to resort to picking on others through an online medium to feel better about yourself.

    Have a simple day.

  • hah! tell him!

  • i will practice these and because of your great explanations, i know the most important parts. it´s great how you explain and show these basics. i can see how much you love this art. thanks and i hope to see much more from you.

    *rei*

  • isnt there alot of chances of getting hit in the nuts before u step in?

  • Definitely as the opponent is probably not going to just stand there and allow a counter attack. The purpose of these kata is to get the feeling of movement. Your basically creating a frame of mind on how you are going to react to certain principles: Fire - aggression, Water - reaction Wind - Untouchable - Earth Solid and unyielding. Void - whatever works. These kata are not for fighting so don't try it against someone.

  • Thank you soooooooo much!!! You guys are so awesome and make everything look so easy!

  • In my school we call it hi no kata, hi is just another word for fire, but I wonder why some groups call it the one name and other groups call it the other name. You should feel proud, your teacher, whoever he is appears to have trained you very well.

  • would this technique work against a round punch too?

  • yes it can. remember these exact techniques aren't ment for combat. they are excersizes.

  • k, thanks!

  • very nice 5 stars good photography and graphics in your vids
