Sorry but these seem like nasty, ugly-looking,crappy whistles. A whistle without a pea... WTF??!!!!! I am a soccer ref and believe me, YOU NEED that pea inside the whistle or your ears (and reputation) will bleed. I find it funny and sad at the same time... why would anyone make whistles like these for a living. At best, these are whistles for handicaped people, with hearing problems and such. I bet the company who makes these "things" will go bankrupt very soon.

Oh, and the review is TOO long!!

@nicoterradas I'm a soccer ref too, I almost immediately converted to Fox 40. It gets attention a lot better, reaches farther, and startles players when you lay on it. they have a model called the pearl which has a lower tone. pealess are also more reliable. and @cutlerylover there's a specific way to blow a whistle. you're not doing it right. I'd be happy to help you though if you PM me (not gonna start an argument here)

! whattttt! the balisong is badass, i've never seen something like that before, the best i've seen is a folding utility knife, cool whistles by the way, i like the retro as well, since it's missing the pea, the sound is constant, it doesn't warble

While other guards i work with use whistles with the pea in them, they break easy and gum up when put in the water. My personal whistle is the Fox 40 classic and i like to use my sonik blast CMG when people dive. Extreme loudness without the pea.

When I did traffic I used The Acme Thunder whistle. Made in England. It was all metal with a pea in it. I used to get bad headaches after 8 hrs. of that crap. Then I put the ear plugs in and no more headaches. I think with any whistle your going to need hearing protection. Great review and a much better whistle then the old metal ones.

whenever i go out either hunting or rock hounding i always carry a whistle. it really saved my butt once when i got stranded. gave an SOS blow and i got someone's attention. i was so happy that i didn't have to hike out 10 miles in the hot desert sun haha.
