  • Disabled my 'a' radio in dd-wrt and mine was fixed. Thanks @PhateShepherd's comment below

  • @PhateShepherd

Thanks, beacon didnt help iPad2, but fixed ip did.

Sigh, i wonder how many router config has been discarded and all along it was crappy ipad doing it.

  • Cheers mate. My iPads and iPhones have trouble reconnecting when I leave the house then return. Hoping this might fix it. Transfer speed seems to have improved immediately.

  • Doesn't fix my router. My dd-wrt router reboots when the ipad is doing heavy downloading. Will have to try another firmware, I guess.

  • Thank you SOOOOO much for this. I have been researching this issue for my home, my office and another install I did for a friend for over a year now. I will try it right away. Hopefully, it works. BTW, I heard yesterday from a Japanese professor who specializes on wireless IT that the issue is not with the iOS devices, but with the routers. Apparently the router implementations are all pretty much ad hoc for all manufacturers. That's why iDevices work best with the Apple Airport router.

  • All I can say is THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! been having this problem for ages and it's finally fixed! The fact I'm writing this now from my 3GS is testament to how well this fix works ;)

  • Didn't help our iPad 2's at the office. We have 4 WRT54G routers, running DDWRT 14929, setup in a WDS network. The only fix that has helped has been to assign a manual address to the iPad 2's.

I think this bug is related to the dual band bug the iPad 2 has. If you have a Dual Band router, you may have to give the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands each their own SSID.

WDS networks are not necessarily dual-band, but they do have multiple routers broadcasting with the same SSID. That confuses DHCP on the iPad.

  • My iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4th Gen never have Wifi problems. I heard about a lot of people even one of my friends that has a iPhone 4 always having wifi issues.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • Hey cool bro. How were you able to mirror the iPhones screen to your tv?
