Thanks for the hint. However, that scene was always shown when the movie was presented in German TV, German version. The movie was frequently repeated in TV up to the end of the 90ies. Then, never again. Do you have an idea why? Too brutal?
@TheYosana@TheYosana The TV broadcasts in the UK have always been of the American cut of the film (ie, Aldrich's cut), so that's perhaps German television broadcast the same version. Since the film's original cinema release, Lancaster's European cut has only been available over here on VHS.
There was a German VHS release that edited all of the unique footage from the Lancaster cut into the Aldrich version of the film, thus creating an 'integral' version of ULZANA'S RAID.
I guess television airings may have dried up because the film has been all but forgotten about; over here, very few Westerns air on television anyway, especially after the watershed (when ULZANA'S RAID would, due to its violence, have to be broadcast).
@TheYosana Hi TheYosana, the precredits sequence with the Apaches escaping from the reservation was one of the sequences that Lancaster chose to omit in the cut of the film that he prepared for the European market. The sequence is intact on the DVD release of director Robert Aldrich's cut of the film for American cinemas. (All DVD releases of this film contain Aldrich's cut.)

@TheYosana I've never seen it though.
