the apex may be faster in a straight line but sucks on the turns because its so heavy compared to that 399 pound tnt and it only has 110 to 115 hp i would hope the yamaha would beat a sled thats in the 500 class i would like to see them hit jumps and fly through the turns on a apex with out wearing a kidney belt lol
its funny that all these people are putting ski doo to shame i would never get a yamaha ever again bc they just seize up and shit and i have a 2002 ski doo mxz 800 stock and raced a 2009 yamaha apex 1000 and beat it for about a half mile. but yeah then the yamaha has a bigger engine and can beat the ski doo but it the ski doo 800 just dont have the top end speed as the apex 1000
Ski Doo 800 e-tec's smokes an Apex in acceleration. Ski-doo's new e-tec sleds are the way to go if u ask me. Less expensive to buy, less to work on and less maintance, lighter, less parts to go wrong,ect,ect. 4 strokes just suck for sleds....

@sledhead7969 exactly!! i have a 145hp srx and an 08 piped nytro. both sleds are geared towards trail riding, so i dont give a shit. but no matter how you look at it, yamaha has come further with their technology, ride quality, and dependability than anyone else. i ride with cats, doos, and polaris all the time. other sleds might be faster outta the hole, or be able to win drags, but when your shit breaks down after 5000miles, maybe you should switch to YAMAHA!!!
@BadHarley03 If a Yamaha loses out of the hole, it's because they couldn't hook because of torque. In the past 4years, I,ve had an 04 Blair Morgan 800 h.o., and 05 F7 (which was a nice sled, Black Widow), and an 04 Warrior, and my 06 RTX MURDERS them all. Thats why I still have it. I don't like how people talk about the weight like its a bad thing. My rev, and F7 felt like they were gonna lift off at 160km/h, but the Apex is smooth as a baby's bum at 180.
THe RTX won if you didnt read the first few Texts. The TNT is an amazing machine for sure though...I am a bigger guy and am sure the TNT would not be as enjoyable to ride all day long as the RTX...I had been on both of them on that particular trip and think that the TNT would be comparable to a CR 250...where the RTX would be more like a XR 650

you cant just compare cc's like that between a 2 and a 4 stroke.. that pisses me off when i beat 2 strokes on my apex or rx-1, and that is their first excuse.. GET OVER YOURSELF AND JUST ADMIT THAT MY SLED IS FASTER!
