You couldve showed how the kick sounded before and after, but its cool...I actually know this trick but hardly use it. I use the delay with the Kick trick to fool the Listeners ear into thinking that the Kick sound is wide and huge. :)
Why don't you just put the signal generator on an aux track, followed by the gate. Then just set the key input to open the gate when the kick drum hits? You don't have to have an audio track containing the generated signal. That just seems much more complicated.
Good vid. Thanks. Question though: What if i wanted to do this to an actually recorded kick track? Like, so my 'key' input would not be an instrument track, but an actual audio track. does that make sense? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've never done anything like this to my stuff. would like to though :)
it would be the same, just make sure that you make the kick track go through an aux track using a bus so that you can single out the bus with the key input, because you cant apply the sub sound to an individual track, also that way you could add other effects to the sound comming in using that aux kick channel.
im sorry if that makes no sence to you, but hopefully u'll get the jist?
theres a much easier way to do it. put a signal generator in an aux track. send the kick to the aux and set it at unity level. then gat the aux track using the signal chain. dont use audiosuite because your stuck with it if you use an aux you have much more control
You explain it welll but defintiively need to show the before/after audio to demostrate the sub effect. Oh, I almost forgot, the frequencie to enhace is around... 60? Am I wrong?

When using the aux you can also automate the signal generator parameters (frequency, shape, level etc). The original 808 is around 60hz

auxiliary is definately the way to go. Using gated white noise on a snare can also work.

Or you could use RBass

60hz is a bit high for a sub kick. 50-55 sounds about right.

I take that back, 60 comes through the mix better than 50 or 55.
