What has happened to the drill of the Boys' Brigade?....most of it here is appalling!,...what about the drum major, stopping short at end parts and who is out of step, the Drum Major of the whole flipping band,....pity, it distracts from a very good musical performance

It wasn't broken off completly, alot of joint companys were formed - the first scouting camp actully contained a large contingant from 22nd southampton BB i think it was

Scouts actually originated from BB. A leader from the original BB company broke off and formed scouts

So how would you set apart Boys Brigade and Boy Scouts in your nation?

BB is a "soft approach" evangelistic tool where there is clear emphasis on Christianity. The BB Object emphasizes the "Advancement of Christ Kingdom among Boys". In Malaysia, it's quite a powerful outreach tool. Well, I got saved through BB. Most of my current officers too.

Scouts represent a secular view. BP was an officer in BB himself before starting off the scouts. Probably he intended for a wider audience, particularly those resistant towards preaching. That's the main difference to me.

Thank you for your responce. In America they did not tell us that BP was in BB. All we knew was that BP came back from the Boer War and started the Scouts.  I think I would have rather been in the BB, but in this country there are very few BB groups. It is sad to see what is going on in Church of Scotland and in the Episcopal Church in my own nation. Keep up the good work in Malaysia.

Well done. I am sending this email from America. I did not know that BB existed. I found out about this organization on YouTube. I think there are very few BB groups in the United States. I see BB has a close connection to Christianity. I was a Boy Scout. Scouts in the U. S. left faith though encouraged to the individual and their family. Drill was not as important although one troop I was in did some. Music and singing beside campfire songs and a very little marching band was less important.
