I know this Balloon. John Kent used to own and fly it. He would come to our rally in walla walla. Though I don't think it was him flying it in this video. I blieve it was after he sold it.

I wouldn't judge it to be blowing 15 mph at this point. But it doesn't take much to give a balloon a lot of momentum. That's why you never get in front of a landing balloon.

Just thought I would add my bit lol. I dont think you can say this isn't an accident. That is unless you think that he intended to land so close to a wall.

Now I am no "Balloon Pilot" but I'm happy to wager that you surely have never intended to land quite as erratically as this guy appears to have done.

I agree that it doesn't look like 15 mph at all, but with a balloon that size, it wouldn't take much speed at all to do a lot of damage. That's why you never stand in front of a balloon when landing.

I am a pilot myself with more than 500 hours flying balloons. I have landed in the field after the wall where the video has been taken that morning. I watched him coming over the houses and power line, starting his approche and his landing too early and too fast. He made a bad approche and has hit the wall really hard. Believe me i was onsite when it happen. I did my landing 5 minutes before he landed. SO i know what i am talking about.

Saying that the wind was 15 mph proves you do not know what you are talking about. If the wind is 15 mph, why is the balloon standing? A pilot with 500 hous calling this a crash and hearing your comments, is much more scary than the balloon hitting the wall.

I have a life and it involves hot air ballooning. I find it annoying, when every idiot with a video camera that captures a balloon landing, titles their video "balloon crash".

The wind is not going 15 miles per hour, the balloon would not be standing. Please show the broken wall, the winds are light and this looks like a landing to me. Have you ever been in a balloon hotairballooncanada? It looks like the basket is back from the wall and even if it is touching the wall the wind is light enough that it is not an issue. Why not show the footage of all the carnage on the other side of the wall?

apparently u hav never been around a balloon either. where they lander there is a tree break thats just big enough to block omost of the wind. cause if u didnt notice, the top of the ballon is swaying. and the baskety is right up against the other side of the wall.

Trees or not, 15 miles per hour the balloon would not be standing. I am a commercial balloon pilot for 20 years and have landed at 15 mph many times. This is not an accident.
