  • liol Insert coin, coin slot in computer.

  • dreamcast is weaker, you douche

  • AUTOMATIC??? you twit nobody uses automatic anymore its for fat people who cant drive. are u one of them? I THINK SO!!!

  • please how i can configure joystick xbox 360 in this game???

  • how such an old game can show this amazing graphics?

  • @johnnie9011 You'd know it looks much better than this if you played it in an arcade. Model3 was way ahead of its time.

  • @pr0newbie The Dreamcast which came out only 2 years later is more powerful then Model 3.

Go and look at the specs. It is based on the Sega Naomi which came after model 3.

  • @ojideagu YOu dont know shit faggot

  • @StonedAssassinNZL Look it up yourself dick head

  • @ojideagu YOu know there are different Model 3 steps? you still dumbas fuck,

  • @johnnie9011 The Dreamcast was only 2 years older and had graphics as good as this. It was more powerful.

  • @johnnie9011 I know it was truely incredible. Remember ps1 and saturn were only a year or so old at this time.

  • Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to get this running at anything like a similar speed on an overclocked Pentium 4 with enought ram? (Not that'd I'd ever try to overclock my CPU - knowing my luck I'd probably just end up with a black charcoal shaped lump on my motherboard that used be the CPU!)

  • SR 1 and @ should be on psn n live aswell!! theyd make a killin!! ;D

  • This game is a hardware "noami" o saturn arcade?

  • @UsernameRaciel no, it's sega model-3, more powerful than naomi (dreamcast)

  • Comment removed

  • Daytona?

    Just sucks ball!

  • The Sega Model 3 board has "Blast Processing"... MAME doesn't. So what does "Blast Processing" do? (I said that because MAME can't emulate M3 games well)

  • This never saw a console release because at the time, Sony held the rights to include Porche cars in console racing games. Sony went on to release Porche Challenge for the PS1. Also, at the time this was released, the Saturn wasn't up to the job of handling this graphically, Daytona USA being an example.

  • the saturn had the ability to gain more power (i cant say it any better) with that extra cartridge (king of fighters had it). maybe with that it would have been possible to make a good adaptation.

    <3 saturn

  • could i pl have a link to download this version of mame?

  • @lordurias, google it, stupid! always try, and THEN ask for help! its on MAME official site...

  • I think Sega did a Scud Race tech demo during the development of the Dreamcast. They could have ported it early in the Dreamcasts life if Sega wanted.

I would love Sega to come back into the hardware market! Perhaps aimed at the more casual market against Wii but i think they should do a huge download service of complete arcade perfect titles of theirs and others.

  • it would be great if Sega put Scud Race and Daytona2 in Live and PSN

  • I've started a Facebook campaign to try and encourage them to do this. Only trouble is no one seems to be joining it so far... Just search for Scud Race on Facebook and you should find it. Maybe we can get Sega to do something about it if enough people join up.

  • PSN, or XBOX live arcade ;)

  • Why sega never ported this to the Saturn??

  • It was supposed to come to the Dreamcast but Dreamcast got canned

  • Because this was a model 3 arcade game. Saturn struggled with Model 2 games so not a chance would Sega try to port something as demanding as Scud Race to the poor Saturn. It would melt !!

  • WTF are u smoking?

  • I can`t believe that not even the ps2 and xbox1 can handle this 1996 game. That model board 3 was ahead of its time.

  • Of course SEGA consoles and especially their Arcade systems were waaaay ahead of its time! PS2 and Xbox look like previous gen consoles compared to Model 3!

  • @sybnios Total rubbish, the PS2 and Xbox 1 are far more powerful then Model 3. Even the Dreamcast is more powerful then Model 3. The Dreamcast is a Sega Naomi machine, but with half the system ram.

  • @ojideagu the dreamcast was infact weaker than model 3. Sega switched to Naomi because of 1.It was cheaper to produce and was 90% as good and 2. because the hardware very very simular to a DC porting arcade games was much easier. Did you see the scud race tech demo vid? Its not as good as the arcade original. Neither were VF3 or Sega rally 2, all model 3 games.

  • @keironewoodgate The pure hardware of Naomi is more powerful than model 3, fact. The only advantage Model 3 had was the Rom size could be expanded to larger than the Dreamcast. Other than that the Dreamcast was more powerful than model 3.

  • NAOMI Specifications CPU: Hitachi SH-4 CPU with graphic functions and 128-bit SIMD @ 200 MHz (360 MIPS and 1.4 GFLOPS) Graphic Engine: PowerVR 2 (PVR2DC) Sound Engine: ARM7 Yamaha AICA 45 MHz (with internal 32-bit RISC CPU, 64 channel ADPCM) Main Memory: 32 MByte Graphic Memory: 16 MByte Sound Memory: 8 MByte

  • Model 3 Specifications Main CPU: IBM PowerPC 603 @ 66, 100, 166 MHz Graphics Chip: 2× Lockheed Martin Real3D/Pro-1000 Sound CPU : Motorola 68EC000 @ 11.3 MHz Sound Chip: 2× Yamaha SCSP/YMF292-F 128-step DSP, MIDI interface, 64 voices, 4 channel, maximum of 16.5 MB ROM, 64 PCM channels Main RAM: 8 MB Audio RAM: 1 MB

  • @ojideagu If the point you are trying to make is that on paper the DC specs where higher than that's an irrelevant statement. I can gives you dozens of examples where this doesn't plan out, e.g a core 2 quad at 3ghz isn't as fast as an I7 at the same speed or the Xbox vs gamecube CPU's. The fact is the DC just wasn't able to produce some of the effects model 3 could and AM2 have even been quoted say exactly that.

  • Remember to run the i686 optimized version if you have an Intel processor, and use the -mt switch if you have a multicore CPU. Makes the difference between running like crap and running okay on mine.

  • runs kinda clunky...suppose to be breezin' in or around 40-60 frames a sec..

  • your cpu is the shit! but your gpu sucks

  • Holy shit! With that extreme setup, the game looks like this?? I'll never be able to run it then

  • i wish would take the next step of 3D-emulation.....

  • impossivel, qual o processador pra rodar isso???

  • what setup are you using and mame version plugins etc?

runs tons better than mine :(

  • still slow on mame... :(

  • i wish they would bring this to XBOXLA i miss this game

  • With Virtual On announced for XBLA and Sega's renewal of classic licenses, there's no better time than now. Let's just hope they listen to the fans. This game is too good not to get a release on home consoles. They don't even have to tweak the graphics, music or physics, they still hold up well over a decade later.

  • The graphic card is not important to Mame. Only fast cpu is the way.

  • That is only true for some games, games like these ones it does matter. I know it matters for the Model 2 emulator

  • Model 2 Emulator (Nebula) is not MAME.

  • In order for an emulator to run complex 3D graphics, it will require a video card capable of diplaying them.

But youre dead right, Nebula is not MAME, cause Nebula can Model 2 games properly and with link up multiplayer, and MAME cant.

  • wasn't Sega Gt/Scud Race Model 3?..will a model 2 emu due to run this?

  • was stars wars trilogy ever playable? which MAME version? which romset?

  • I did try it late last week, it wouldnt start the game, but i could go into the options and set them. I have an AMD 4000 CPU and 2 gigs of ram, so id be very suprised if i have the power to run it, although Scud Race does run, Star Wars did not.

  • I managed to get Star Wars running on my PC (don't have a clue what my machine's specs are in terms or CPU & RAM) and it seemed to run at about 1 frame a second (so pretty much unplayable) and a lot of the polygons seemed to have lost their texture. Also, for some weird reason on the level select screen all the writing was reversed.

  • if you hold the windows key and press pause/break at the same time itll tell you in the system properties, itll be at the bottom.

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • No worries ;)

  • Thanks for the tip I never knew that until now.

  • No worries mate :)

  • this was 6 months ago. Was there an improvement of the emulation speed in this game and Daytona USA 2? if the answer is "yes", which is the name of the MAME version?

  • Model3 emulation was rewritten in 0.125 and 0.129. By now this is the fastest version.

  • Any videos of that version running the game?

  • can u give me the link for the emulator and SCUD race thx

  • cant wait till the day they emulate initial d.

  • podrias dar la web para descargar el emu por lo menos si dices que corre bien y tratar de compartir!

  • The car models in this game look amazing.

  • I have Mame .119 and the rom, but I can't get it to load at all. Any suggestions?

  • I think you have to run the "Australia" version one. And the first time you run it you have to go into the little bios and set it to "single" cabinet so it doesnt try to network with another machine. I could be wrong, its been a while since I tried this game.

  • Although it may not be an arcade perfect emulation it is clearly a step in the right direction.

I am so looking forward to be playing Daytona USA 2 someday!!!!

  • You Need to INSERT COIN(S) to play

  • hope someday release a dedicated model 3 emulator, MAME requires a NASA computer to play this game in good frame-rate.

  • Holy cow!

  • they have a long way to go before MAME is able to run Scud Race /Super GT to the point where it looks as good (graphics, textures, effects) and runs as good (framerate) as the MODEL3-based arcade

  • HOW CAN I GET THIS TO PLAY ON MAME

  • Check my other video ("How to play Model 3 games in Mame 0.119"). Bye.

  • "No sound emulated"

  • where's the sound?
