I think what makes Carlotta such a riot is that she has no stage etiquette. She doesn't just go along with mistakes, she cannot hold her composure and she is down-right terrible at everything.
"Can't say I didn't warn you." "Who is that?" "Who do you think?" lol! I love it! And I can't believe the Phantom hasn't said it before! I mean, seriously, you hear a voice talking to you through a wall; I think your options are limited on who it could be.
@Doctor1137 From Verdi's La Traviata; she is singing the Brindisi or Drinking Song from Act 1, it's a tragic love story set in Paris about Violetta the courtesan and her Alfredo, check out La Traviata on Youtube
@adkdmlie I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the Yeston-Kopit musical (that this TV miniseries is the non-musical version of). There's a song called "You Are Music". :3
bwahahaha i like this type of relationship between the phantom and christine. He walks in, she tells him about carlotta's debut, and the whole time she gets to hang out with him! now if only she fell in love with him -bops christine on the head- you're a warm blooded woman, what's wrong with you?!
Christine is charmingly insecure. It'd be easy to play her as someone who is quite knowledgeable of her own talent, but Teri Polo is genius in making her seems like a modest little waif who simply loved music and didn't know he had the skills.
And I am falling in love with Charles Dance. What a voice. What eyes. Why are so many older British men so darn attractive? <3
Haha, at 0:17 - 0:22 Carlotta sounded exactly like Cruella De Vil! I love this version of Phantom of the Opera, I especially love how Charles Dance portrays Erik!
@theblacksister I love Charles Dance in this. He makes Erik so charming and witty, even when hes menacing! Hes just sweet, and has the most expressive eyes.
@queenofsingin99 ''Sometimes dreams can be real...''Theres so many good quotes in this version, dont you think? Ah, hes so sweet, and sad inside. He desparately needs a hug. And he also looks good in frilly shirts...:)
@queenofsingin99 In this version Erik is really sweet - a far cry indeed from the original who actually was quite violent! Even when hes talking about the ''murders'' he so passe about it, you have to smile - but thats CD's acting for you, suave and gentlemanly!
This vrsion is AMAZING, if only because Erik has a sense of humour, actually gets to know Christine, and Carlotta is awful ^_^ I'm serious, often in ALW's version, Carlotta is really not a bad opera singer at all, it's just that most people don't like opera to begin with, so it seems bad because she's singing it with vibratto, the way it should sound, and Christine sings it like a ballad from a normal musical

What do you mean he was beaitful on the inside? What quality make him beaitful and a jerk at the same time? Do you think his relationship w/Christine was a form of incest?
well at times he was beautiful (his art and love he showed for christine) at times he was a jerk (like when he gets really angry and cant control himself). hmmmmm..... idk about christine. I believe he really loved her like lovers do. but at times I get confused and think he's just thinking of his mom. it's so confusing!!!!
hmm... well. love is EVERYTHING! lol! if I told you what it ment It would take me forever! srry 4 not much describtion, but seriously to me its everything you can think of.
Could you be more speific? Is love hurting someone physically? Everything is vague. I know you can be more speficic. Maybe this would help. Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. Describe what love is in your own words? I can you can do it.
not really, even though she's a fantastic singer! the only reason andrew wrote the musical was 4 her. I'm grateful he wrote it cuz i love it SO much, but I wish there was another reason for writing it.....
I HATED that!!!!! :( I wrote a short paper about Erik falling in love with one of christines kids. Ppl loved that! lol! I think he should have someone 2 love like everyone.
Whose Ppl? Why do you think everyone deserves someone to love? Have you ever thought about the concept of grace in this story? Christine shows unmerited favor to Erik even though she doesn't have to. He shows her grace by giving her singing lessons. Just a thought.
I think if Erik did get Christine in the end, the story would've lost his, for lack of a better word, appeal to everyone. A man who gets shunned by everyone (Erik) then finally finds someone to love, and almost loves him back, only to lose her, makes for a much more interesting story then a man who has everything (Raoul, or Phillipe in this nersion) loses one thing.
P.s. You kinda remind me of Socrates. You know, asking people to go deeper in their explanations. That's pretty awesome. :)
