  • wow , thats crazy , didn't think it was going to be that elaborate as i watched it. I wonder how much it costs them to do that.

  • live*love

    typo sorry

  • i live the paint...i wish theres an repaint just like this @ X plane 8 or 9..

  • "On 5 May 2005, Dragonair celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a new Airbus A330-300 (B-HWG) painted in a special livery. The work of art took 14 months to realise, from design tender to completed image."

  • I would love having that job

  • i saw this plane couple weeks ago in hongkong

  • Have been watching Boeing and Airbus assembly timelapse videos recently. One part of Airbus' process that will always be far far cooler? The Belugas. They're just incredible. XD

  • That is an excruciatingly long process. Must cost a fortune for that special custom job. But it was worth it in the long run, it looks awesome.

  • Deadset, I would HATE to see that crash. Fine work of art.

  • if it aint boeing it aint going

  • @MegaDeathwarrant guess you got something wrong. Airbus is now ahead of Boeing with sales figures. More Airbus make their way to the skies than Boeings do... I heard of that order placed by american airlines with a massive order of 460 brand new planes. Airbus came out better off than boeing.... Airbus and Boeings are both great plane manufacturers... but Airbus comes up with well better advanced planes.

  • @konrad4212 You're so wrong in many ways.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant I m not so sure I so wrong... look it up. Airbus came up on top of order placements in the last airshow. (Paris, June 2011) again, I might be wrong but still, look it up. No offense meant about Boeing which I very much like too.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant No, I'm afraid he's right - Airbus' orders for 2011 currently stand at 1015 aircraft, Boeing's total is 379 for the same period. Now, that's very unusual, it's been close for the past few years, but the massive differene this year is due to Airbus anouncing a new A320 version with much more efficient engines, and its taken the market by storm - they got over 600 orders for it at one airshow, which is absolutely unprecedented.

  • @wahaya2 No he's not. Boeing bought out several Airbus facilities and owns the worlds largest manufacture plants in the world. How can Airbus be better if many of their plants where bought out from Boeing?

  • Comment removed

  • Must be a complicated paint job.But all the hard work and efforts turn into a BIG SUCCESS

  • nice "boarding" music in the background.

  • How long did it take to make the plane?

  • Very new

  • I've been on the aircraft

  • WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT PAINTING!

OHH AND VERY GLOSSY AND SHINY

  • That's insane!

  • haha oh my god what do the employees of dragonair where to work dragon costumes haha so gooney

  • this is crazy:D. can you tell me background music name?

  • Pokemon

  • @DarkCharizard64 ? Thats Japan, not Hong Kong

  • it's rice...it got too much stickers, too much wings and 2 farts cans :D

  • this must be the biggest nightmare livery to paint. so many bits!

  • Song - The Alpeggiani

  • Song - The Alpeggiani

  • ta longe da boeing

  • Song?

  • name music?

  • Just like a huge model kit

  • soo very cool i learn how to make a plane ^^ i wish i can make a plane metal not real plane a toy plane made from metal ^^

  • Man's greatest gift (creativity) and man's greatest invention (airplanes combined)!!!! I love this.

  • what if they start leasing their aircrafts for short intervals.. ;)

painters will be screwed doing this again and again

  • Awesome dragon air plane. Like a bird, like a dream when flying in the sky

  • dragonair sure have an expensive paint job

  • incredible !! :-) and so beautiful

  • song?

  • wow... 0:29 and we aleady got the air bus balugah in.... airbuses help airbus

  • What an awesome paint scheme Dragonair has! Thanks for the video! I wish the major airlines in the United States would upgrade and change theirs. The ones from United, Southwest, Delta, and American Airlines just bore me to tears. You would think they would want to make change already to show the public "Hey, we've changed; we're new" !!! I really like the Asian airlines liveries, and I just luv the baby blue of Korean Airlines... and the nice scheme of Cathay. Why are the USA ones so blah?

  • that looks tough

  • @EatsYouUp Hey at least in this Video they didn't have to strip all the paint off the plane like they have to when repainting a plane.

  • What is the name of the theme song? That would be great soundtrack for my collection.

  • at 0:29 what kind of plane is that off loading other plane?

  • @skateboy159 The A300 Beluga

  • @nightfox thank you

  • Probably an expensive ass livery...but hey I bet that job is alot of fun with those overhead gantries Boeing and Airbus use, makes it alot easier

  • its an anniversary livery

  • Wow, it takes longer to paint the plane... than to build it!!!

    :-P

  • wow correct paintjob

  • Nice paint job boys, but the boss says this one is for Air France.

  • good stuff

  • What a nice plane!HAHA! I love it

  • why dont we try doing one in ansett colours?

  • Excellent.

  • Great video. Now that Airbus have opened up a factory in China, they will learn and copy the technology, and compete against both Airbus and Boeing... way to go Airbus!

  • haha...funy)))

  • A behemoth in the making

  • Good greif what a complicated painting process. Nice results dont get me wrong, but wow, that had to cost.

  • How long is the process for this?

  • absolutely splendid!!!

  • the spend more time on paniting the plane than fixing i t

  • AIRBUS TUNiNG AHAHAHAHAH

  • took more time to paint the plane than to assemble it.

  • it just shows you how good there planes are. they only have take a little time to build because all of the parts are pre-assembled.

  • amazing...

  • lol looks so chinese :D

  • it is chinese its hong kong

  • amazing video!!! could anybody please tell me the name of the song? thanks a lot

  • must be a complicated paintjob

  • @randomlarrynator if you wish to see a complicated one :) type in "The making of southwest airlines florida one" :)

  • Gusy do you know the song who tel me Ill susbcribe

    thankx :)

  • thts 1 lucky bird

  • IT IS AWESOME!

  • if anyones following the 787-8 delema 0:41 shows the part that they are fixing the wing body join just an fyi

a PITA livery to do i have to say tho

  • wat song

  • the painting is good... but the building of the airplane is 100x better .....

    thx for posting!

  • wow!

  • simply amazing.

God creates man. Man creates amazing machines.

  • BOEING FOR LIFE

  • Nice...I have this exact aircraft in a 1:400.

    very very nice.

  • "So boss, what livery is up for paint today? Not Dragonair again, I hope?" :)

  • yah thats alot of wok right there! you have a point

  • How about DHL?:)

  • @vezzmon I don't think that those people do it because they have to but because they want to!

  • @vezzmon

    Boss: yes, it's Dragonair agian

    Employee: Why?

Boss: because we've been painting the same bloody plane for the last six days! What makes today any different?

  • Wow amazing vid

  • Only one word to describe,Magnificent!

  • Very nice paint, this is my favorite plane, nice curves and huge wing span for body size!

  • name music?

  • perfect

  • really? how dooes it take to get together that big bird!

  • WOW

  • Go for it, hot shot.

  • What's the song called?

  • amazing paint job!

is this the same type of aircraft that crashed on the coast of brazil?

  • no. the one that crashed is a a330-200. i believe this is the -300 series.

  • yes

  • so it's all stickers..wow..correct me if im wrong :)

  • Not just a bloke with a paintbrush then.

  • mean paint scheme

  • Wow that place really filled up with smoke when painting lol. Great vid!

  • Over Spray. Indeed not SMOKE.

  • i know its not smoke, i didn't know how to describe it.

  • excellent vid...

  • whoa hand painted

  • What a beautiful paint. Amazing, but so expensive. Here it goes one curiosity: I´ve done my MBA with one American Airlines employee and once he presented an power point about AA. The company reduces its money spend by just painting some parts of the plane. Note that all AA airplanes are gray, in the color of a natural airplane when it´s manufactured. This idea comes from an employee who wins some rewards for this idea.

  • The Boeing 737 is the most successful selling aircraft in history, and based on its' numbers sold, definitely more poeple have perished than in the comparable A320. Airbus is a great company, but if as many A320's were sold as B737's, fatalities for Airbus would be higher.

Both Boeing and Airbus are great companies, and catastrophic incidents do occur.

  • I wonder what beoing uses since airbus uses their beluga....what DO they use to transport the parts?

  • Boeing has a specially converted 747 called the Dreamlifter to transport parts for the 787. I think they have more but cant remember.....

  • They have several Boeing 747 Freight Carrier to transport aircraft parts to the factory. Sometimes, bigger aircraft parts force them to make a call for service from Antonov Airlines.

  • They are NOT 747 but Airbus 300-600ST Beluga. And, by the way, the section of an Antonov plane is smaller than Beluga's.

  • What is I'm trying to said is Boeing use their own Boeing 747 to transport several aircraft parts to the assemble hall however they would require larger cargo plane service from other cargo airline but not Beluga. Why Boeing has to ask for the service from their rival?

  • Boeing mainly uses railroads.

  • @rb21122b lol i cant imagine a 747 fuselage on a train! haha

  • airbus def better than boeing in terms of technology and safety

  • hey!, i've already ridden airbus for 2 times, and i've never felt any shake while flying, exept for take off and landing..

  • How much ignorant rubbish. You have no idea. If you can read look into Boeing 737 crashes and how many people this plane killed. Only the 777 can compete in terms of safety with the Airbus models from technology point of view. The 747 even still has cables going through the frame, someting used 30 years ago. The A380 is fourth generation FBW technology with electrostatic actuators for first time. Anyway both Boeings and Airbusses are very safe despite some losses, anything else is bullshit.

  • Btw, read for Aloha Airlines Flight 243 Boeing 737 material fatigue accident and then rethink what you wrote. No Airbus ever experienced such catastrophic material fatigue.

  • I think this is one of the special livery of dragonair? Their normal 330 don't look like this(at least from what i remember)

And for a long time before i watch this video, i thought the repaints are done by computer controlled robots, where you enter the livery into the computer, and the computer will take care of it....not by humans...Now i'm really thinking how long it really took these guys just to get the repaint done...

  • hii what music is this?

  • because it onlu assembled in toulouse, and built all over the world

  • it was so cool to see them uncover the windows

  • Great Video, but why did it take longer to paint the plane than build it?? : )

  • cause of the details, it must of drived the painters nuts!

  • lol the painting seems kinda long and hard. i wonder how hard it must have been to paint the singapore airlines "tropical megatop"

  • don't really like the livery but meh, good vid, 5*****

  • cool airplane

  • Those people putting together pieces of crap also put together that piece of crap that didn't break up when it landed in the Hudson. Please tell your mother thanks for the great time last night.

  • that so called piece of CRAP is one of the best and safest plane out there DICK HEAD!!! If it is so crap then why is there getting on 900+ orders for the A330 Family and explain if it is so CRAP why has it only been in 2 hull loss accidents with only 7 fatalities under it's belt since it's launch

  • i luv this song..it suites the video...& nice painting..

  • wow

  • woah this plane has too many details!

  • does anyone know how to say dragonair in cantonese

  • The satisfaction those guys exeperience must be great!

  • AMAZING!!!I bet the designers and the people who participated in designing, building, assembling and painting the aircraft are very proud and happy with their success.

  • Love commercial airliners, they are absolutely amazing!!!!!!

  • brill ace

  • Please noted that: Ugly Karen AuYxung KW (she always think she is the prettiest in Dragonair, please take alook of the link below) , work in KA since 1996, rude, impolite to her coworkers, only likes to talk with MEN only, look down on other ppl coz she thinks she is from upper class and rich. . .( of coz is not), only loves to talk to men and pretend to treat other nice if there are any men around.

  • does anyone know the song

  • Love airplanes, just fasinates me how metal weighing tons can be up and above my head at 30,000 feet high up.

  • What an amazing video!

  • holy shit, flying in that plane must be like flying in pollack's nightmare.

  • Shut up u just want to fly dragon-air.

  • impressive well done!

  • i never get how do they paint planes.......wats the technique.......they seem to paint n repaint nd then remove the paper nd its ready.......

  • @ amitnarayankar

it's not to difficult to understand:

first of all they paint the whole plane in white, after that they apply some special let's say sticker to those parts that should remain white and remove the other ones -> now apply the color paint -> remove the sticker

  • Great video....while I prefer the A332 (one of my favourite planes) over the A333, to see such works of art (both manufacturing and painting of the plane) is a thing of beauty and awe....

  • ooh handmade

  • how long does it take 2 make 1?

  • You could fit a half of an plane in an airbus? damn!

  • Ho!......港龍航空!

  • its amazing whatching these giants being built then after all the hard work watching them beat grafity. Its cool :) nice vid!

  • Seems fairly inefficient compared to Boeing. flying parts etc etc

  • Did you know that Boeing outsourced bolt fasteners to other companies?

And did you know that these fasteners do not meet requirements?

Did you know Boeing has to exchange over 3000 fasteners in about 300 recently delivered planes now?

    Talk bout efficency?

  • Lmao...... I see people have given u a -3 rating for ur comment!

    Talk about stupidity,lol.

Anyone with any knowledge of aircraft production knows that bolt fasteners are a crucial part of the aircraft. Whilst It isn't uncommon for companies to outsource work, to deliver new aircraft with substandard parts is.

Efficiency? Disgraceful corner cutting more like.

  • And your point is?

Boeing still has to replace roughly 3000x300 bolts because requirements were not met.

The -3 rating is fine considering that at least 10% of the viewers of this video are zealots of Boeing.

Stating witty - yet unrelated - opinions doesn't make you an aeronautical engineer - A MSc tho does :)

  • M8 my point was that I was agreeing with you.... didnt you get that, lol? It was obvious that you knew what you were talking about, which many on here dont.

I spent 9yrs @ Airbus & have grown tired of the endless bitching and sniping of Airbus vs Boeing, flight deck are bad enough, never mind you-tube viewers, lol :-)

  • :P Sorry, just got up a while ago with a bad hangover and kinda got your comment wrong.

I am no zealot of any company myself - cheers

  • AMAZING!

  • I could be wrong but the Boeing plant looked more advanced and efficient to me. They didn't have to fly parts from one factory to another and there appeared to be more automation in the painting stages.

  • @transdrole

They do! For what do they need the dreamlifter?

Anyway, Airbus is a project of France, Germany, UK and Spain.

Airbus planes are defintely more advanced than their Boeing counterparts!

  • Airbus opened an assembly line of the A320 and ACJ family in China, for some Asian Airliners (low cost or not) and Corporate Jet liners and Companies. I think its a final assembly line, maybe its the painting jobs just like Cebu Pacific's A320 it took-off at Toulouse looking green, when it took-off from China to Philippines it is now brightly colored with yellow and orange, same as Philippine Airlines

  • awsome craftsmanship ,

  • phew they waste so many

    effort to paint the fuselage!!

  • One thing i don't like about the A330 is, where the Horizontal Stabiliser/Elevator joins to the fuselage. Why do they have that grey patch thingy?

Why don't they paint over it?

  • Its not meant to be painted over, it has something to do with the material from which the point where the horizontal stab attahces to the fuselage are made of.

  • Yes i know it's no meant to otherwise it would be. But why isn't it?

What would happen if they did?

  • It'd could inhibit the movement of the horizontal stab.

  • that is correct. the entire horizonta stab moves when you fine tune the pitch for landing and is also set according to payload for AoA, that way when they rotate of the runway, its more controled, and avoids tail strikes, and such. if you paint it over, it can take out the paint around that area, and further attribute the tail cone and surrounding areas to peel, and increases surface parasite drag as well. hope that clears it up.

    cheers

  • Thanks, i knew it had something to do with the movement of the horizontal stab, i just couldn't explain it as well as you've done.
