Usually the four "low" D3's near the beginning are sung weakly giving the impression that the Prince is something of a wimp, but Domingo sings them robustly. IMHO his version is the best.
Father God, I love you. I come to You today asking You to forgive my sins. Jesus, I believe in You, I believe You died on the cross for me, and on the third day You rose from the dead. I receive You now, Jesus, and I give myself to you. Take me just the way I am, and make me what You want me to be.
Even though he sings strong and bold somehow it comes over soft and sensitive. He really pulls you into the song. The last part where he sings "Tramonta ta stella is so full of emotion! I think he sings it even better in the 90's versions.
Placido Domingo's version of Nessun Dorma is beyond fantastic. It's bombastic, energetic and never fails to touch one's soul. I know I am just listening to him in youtube but I felt like giving him a standing ovation with that kind of finish. He doesn't just make you want to listen. He also makes you feel through the way he sings. He is just magnificent . One of my wishes in life is to see him perform live...
@sensibile1900 I saw him perform live a few weeks ago at the San Francisco Opera's performance of Cyrano de Bergerac. He was absolutely magnificent! He has a way of interpreting his arias that are so emotionally powerful that it made me cry. The standing ovation at the end lasted several, several minutes. My hands were sore from applauding him.
This is the Domingo that I have wanted to hear. !! Perfect.
As far as this rendition is concerned, it is better than Pavarotti's, who sings in exceedingly fast tempo only to showboat the final B in last phrase. Thanks for posting.
Well, I am not being unfair but this is sung much better than most popular tenors as Luciano just bacause this a clearly good choise for Domingo´s type of voice. Bravo Domingo
@tena2 Do you mean that it's sung better than tenors like Tucker, Del Monaco, Cortis, Merli, Corelli, Martinelli Fillipeschi , Lauri Volpi, Bjorling,Wunderlich,Fleta,Giacomini, Martinucci,Cechele& Barioni?
oswaldobmeraz, I'm so happy, that there are yet man and women able to aprecciate and admire a man for what he is and does, not for what he isn't or hasn't done, It's really tiring to read those rude comments about this amazing man with an amazing voice, I'm so grateful that there are still people that knows! my congratulations again!

I actually think Pavarotti's version is the worst among the three.

Good performance, but LUCIANO PAVAROTTI (IL MAESTRO) is THE BEST!
CIAO LUCIANO!
