As much as I can remember, this camera I've tested is the PAL standard video that is used in Singapore. The video clip I've uploaded is the unedited, untouched and original ".MOD" file.
Youtube will auto-recognize the widescreen 'key' and readjust to fit the screen. Not sure about the NTSC standard cameras that are sold in the US as I've not tested them the same way before...
So this is the raw MOD file straight from the Camera? When I tried the same thing it squeezed the widescreen image into 4:3 and I'm running the same camera and specs.
Yup it's from the original MOD file from a PAL camera. I've found out that NTSC cameras which most YouTube users have have problems with their video fitting into full 16:9 mode, due to the missing widescreen 'key' (as I mentioned in my previous reply a few weeks ago).
Search "how to convert widescreen" on YouTube and find the solution that suits you most (there are many out there, using various programs)
I have the same camera but my videos are totally different than yours, how do you get the full screen? do I have to change the configuration? everyone looks skinny in my videos, why is that? Could you help me? Thank you.
Are you done with that tutorial yet, the windows movie maker thing was widescreen, but TERRIBLE quality, so I dont think that I will be doing that again...
Hi! I really like this camera, thanks for the demo! I've been told this camera cuts single records into multiple files with seperate audio, does this mean you can't play your videos on the pc without using the software? Also, it sounds like editting could be very difficult this way?
This is what i've read so too on camcorderinfo, but it does not seem to be the case when I view it from my recorded SD card. I guess maybe it's due to the short recording time & no editing done in-camera, thus it remains as a full .MOD file.
Another surprise is that when you rename the extension "*****.MOD" to "*****.MPG", it is able to play on most video players like Windows Media Player. Editing depends on video-editing software to be frank...
Thank you for the very useful response! My experience with renaming .mod to .mpg is dat the screenformat changes from 16:9 tp 4:3 which ruines my vid. But I am able of playing .mod files in media player classic, I just had a lot of problems uploading it on youtube, but I guess with the MS100 that isn't a problem because of the one click upload button..
Pkrules979 >>> I'll try to do a vid tutorial when i'm free (the sch's driving me nuts!)
danishgrl3 >>> Google "any video converter free download" & download the free version. Try to encode to another format (like .wmv) & see if can be viewed (note that vid might looked squeezed due to fixed aspect ratio).
Oh yes, do download & use the VLC player... it's free & can play most formats.
Ok hopefully soemone can help me. I have this camcorder and it records on a .mod file (which sucks). I tried converting it on three different programs and everytime, it converts it to the .avi but when i go to play it, it has no video or sound. does anyone know how to fix this?? I really want to put up some videos but i can't when they are stuck in this format.
Hey, I have this camcorder and for some reason, when I shoot videos with it in 16:9 (widescreen), it appears on youtube not in widescreen...?! And it is not in widescreen in my editing softtware either... :-(
This is one of the most common flaws in YouTube... you can't choose 4:3 or 16:9.
One of the way is to use the freeware program Any Video Converter, choose .avi (mpeg4 or xvid) & change video size by keying in your custom 16:9 size like 720 x 405.
By this way YouTube will know right away that it's a true widescreen video & will fit your converted video exactly.
Yes my thoughts exactly... I think the gz-ms100 is a level above the zi6. Then again, the zi6 is cheaper...but I'll end up choosing the gz-ms100. Thanks for the help!
Searched Kodak zi6 on Yahoo and found a review from gizmodo. It does not have no image stabilization, making video recording really jerky & poor video under poor lighting. Personally I would choose a normal def camera that has excellent performance than a cheap HD camera that produces mediocre video
looks like you didnt have it in a higher resolution ...

This doesnt really make too much sense to me, really sorry.
Do you think you could possibly make a little tutorial video on how to do this...?
Thanks a lot!
Best wishes,
Asa.

I'm thinking about buying this JVC in the end of the month. Some people told me to buy a Kodak zi6, but I don't even think they're in the same level.
Is this JVC comfortable if used for, say, 30 minutes, one hour?
THanks!
