  • Angela looks great in that striking gown that works so well for her matronly figure. She was sure beautiful in her heyday in the 1940s. She was her most most beautiful in "The Harvey Girls" where she plays a drop-dead gorgeous, yet sinister prostitute or in "Till the Clouds Roll By" where she plays an attractive English entertainer.

  • This, folks, is Broadway. And we will never see their like again!

  • A fabulous pairing! Thanks for posting!

  • Paras

  • **Magical** Thank you!

  • i just love their performance

  • One of the things that makes this such a great performance is that you know the two of them are having such a great time up there on stage. you can see it in the performance and you can hear it in the audience reaction.

  • No comment whatsoever!!! 2 legenda!

  • Angela Lansbury is always in perfect shape... no matter how old she is... She's in better shape than me and I'm 13!

  • Two of my favorite people to have ever walked this earth!

  • Their timing is impeccable!!! What a classic tandem.

  • 28 people don't have a bosom buddy.

  • Showstopper!

  • How many people are with me on this? I love Angela's dress!

  • Listen to Bea belt it on "Just turn to your bosom buddy..." -- beautiful!

  • Classy! Classy!

  • BEST. PERFEORMANCE. EVER.

    That is true class <3

  • Simply wonderful...

  • What a class act. Their timing is effortless and impeccable.

  • Murder, She Wrote!!! :D

  • I love it!!!:D

  • and that kids is how it's done :)

  • To those 27 who clicked "Dislike:" No class.

  • LOL...absolutely love it. Me and my Mom used to sing this together.

  • Love this clip. Older women who are funny, talented, and glamorous. Sequins and bitchiness. Who could ask for more?

  • @777Joeeey

I meant to click vote up but I accidentally clicked vote down. Forgive me, I didn't mean it. :(

    Needless to say, I concur.

  • Has anyone pointed out that it's spelled "Bosom", not Bosum?

  • @nancyjgill Yes. You have....I'm pointing it out.

  • I used to want Angela to be my Nana was little and she was on Murder She Wrote! I was 4 when that show started and I loved it!! I loved Bea on GG and found Maude in my 20s...a few years ago. I met Bea in 2000 and she was awesome and gracious! Legends, both of them!

  • @gomarie02032ily Because then you would be the most awesome creature in existence and it just wouldn't be fair to everybody else.

  • I <3 this like you wouldn't believe! Growing up watching Angela Lansbury and becoming a fan of Golden Girls later on, I just <3 this.

  • thanx for posting, it is so wonderful to see these Legends, Bea & Angela together, thanx again and much luv. . .

  • Mame was the first Broadway show I ever saw; Angela had moved on by 1969 and was replaced by the late Ann Miller, who was reknowned for her dancing(she floated across the stage). Bosom Buddies was still the showstopper, and Bea Arthur as Vera Charles made a lasting impression on a small-town schoolgirl who wanted to act. Timing and talent were everything. I'm sorry I missed Angela. RIP, Ann and Bea.

  • Please tell me that these 26 red votes were wrong clicks - or I'd have to worry for 26 pitiful atavistic grumpy fools !

This number is a pure delight, I just don't know how many times I watched it !!

  • @Ariane67 They have taste for slop if they don't like these two legends, Dearest Bea we miss your dearly

  • Let's hear it for Hollywood producers! They refused to use Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady . . . then refused Angela the part she made famous! How brilliant can you get!

  • @rockyj74426 There's no accounting for taste or sense in Hollywood. Seriously, they don't have any of either. If they had Angela would have won an Oscar and a Grammy by now.

  • Angela Lansbury is definately better then Lucille Ball!

  • Both are great! RIP Bea!

  • great great great! both of them - great Talents!

  • @MsSoftKitty - Me too! lol

  • hahahahahahaha!!!! Anyone else feel sassy after watching this? Brilliant, brilliant number! I wish I could have been in the audience!

  • OMGosh, Angela and Bea. Angela is something else, and Bea, well she's something else. What a duo this was! Oh great entertainment from two great ladies.

  • "If I kept my hair natural like your's, I'd be bald." LMAO!!!!!! Only Bea could deliver a line like that!!

  • @TheLanard love this line! don't forget to use this line if someone makes a comment like that you muhahaha.

  • @capcom23 LOL.

  • RIP Bea Arthur.

  • I'd forgotten how good these two were together. Wow!

  • Love Bea Arthur & Angela Lansbury! :D

  • @JTropp92 -- We are Kindred Spirits, then...Love them as well. :-)

  • @TheSecretsauces Agreed..I'm 18 and I love them both!(:

  • true friendship, 2 amazing icons from my youth, sisters for life, amazing!

  • How sublime. And how wonderful it is to see them revisiting past glories after they'd become known on TV for vastly different characters. Class. It's missing these days.

  • What makes that performance particularly special is that those legendary ladies were actually very close friends in real life until the very end.

We love you, we miss you, and we will never forget you Ms. Arthur! Ms. Lansbury we love you, and please, please, stay with us as long as possible!

  • B-O-S-O-M

  • For U my BFF ! I love U madly ♥

  • I just love these two legends. They are so endearing. =>

  • Now I ask you, HOW could ANYbody not 'Like' this?! ..I don't get it...... wait, on second thought, I wouldn't want to know~ ;)

  • @13Mdraco I only see episodes of Maude on AntennaTV

  • Wow, 25 people have no soul or appreciation of talent. They must be hard to live with. This is just sheer class and I wouldn't want to know anyone who couldn't see that.

  • Does anyone know if I can get this as a ringtone somewhere??

  • Broadway royalty if ever there was.

  • Bea is probably the only perfect Vera Charles.

  • I've always loved Bea. I loved Maude. I watched the Lifetime(?) 5 part special on her life and now I love her more. RIP Bea. Your gift lives on.

  • @gdwme Can you tell me the website where i could watch maude again please.... i tries searching the episodes on youtube but the wrong ones are turning up ^^

  • two wonderful great ladies of entertainement Wish I could have seen them on stage

    JMB

  • Who are the philistines that dislike this video?

  • Awww I love when the crowd busts out clapping at 2:10 when they dance

  • I love Angela's dress!

  • These 2 are just beyond fantastic i repeat fantastic in these roles. Wow no wonder they won Tony awards

  • Such a great clip, thanks for sharing!

    Michael

    OutMaturity

  • THATS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!

  • I'm obsessed with Angie's dress.

  • Having seen the original production of Mame with Angela Lansbury and Bea Arthur six times ... I can say, without a doubt that Angela Lansbury should have gotten the movie. I love Lucy as everyone does, but it wasn't a good role for her.

  • i love my bea arthur, but the best mame film is auntie mame with rosalind russell and coral browne as vera hands down

  • @mbutehorn Yes, I agree completely with what you said. The two women made a terrific combination in that movie

  • @themotorcyclinglady Unfortunately it was Lucille Ball that Bea Arthur made the movie of "Mame" with. It should've been Angela as Mame.

  • damn good...great singer

    i miss bea,...rip!!!

  • @SingleLaadies

    I miss Bea too

  • Great video. May Bea rest in peace.

  • I LOVE Lucille Ball as Mame!

  • how can 25 people not like this?

  • @nickbigd you're the only one that did!!

  • nelly and rob greig lol x

  • i love mame with lucy!!!!!!!!

  • What a great video...They really seem happy. Thanks for posting!

  • all this talk about Angela not getting the film version of Mame, yes it was a pity but also pure economics...Angela Lansbury in 1974 was a big broadway star but not a big star to the general audience in the usa and abroad, Lucy was worldwide star, and Bea Arthur was huge in the usa because of "Maude"...NYC is NOT the world : tourists now flock to see Angela in a play or musical, but they wouldn't have before "murder she wrote" , sad but true folks...

  • @Dirkdebruyne Angela had been in The Manchurian Candidate, and was arguably very well known for it, but you're right, Lucy was the bigger star.

  • What/when is this from?

  • Mrs.Potts :)

  • DO IT GIRLS!!! :-)

  • This is total entertainment from beginning to end - simply superb.

  • Wonderful!!!!!

  • I love them

  • Deadpool just had a heart attck. "My beloved Bea!"

  • Simply wonderful!

  • Two of my favorite actresses...thanks:D

  • Angela Lansbury was the best guest star on the Golden Girls who never appeared. Man, she would have worked fantastically on that show for an episode or two.

  • @102936 did Bea ever guest-starred on MURDER, SHE WROTE? It's great that both Bea and Angela had a hit show around this time (late '80s/early '90s).

  • angela is having so so much fun especially towards the end

  • Angela Lansbury should have had the Mame movie role. She's perfect and would have made a fantastic Mame.

  • Loves it!

  • One time only....two of the greatest artists in the musical theatre. Or anywhere...

  • love this song!!!!! bea is the best!

  • Just give two veterans of the stage some great material and watch the masters at work. Every nuance, intonation, every gesture has a purpose but the joy is never sacrificed. Not for one instant.

  • This is fantabulous. <3

  • who's the host at the very beginning of the clip? he's hot.

  • @quafer

Brian Stokes Mitchell--He played Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime on Broadway--original Broadway cast, I believe.

  • They are both amazing!!! :)

  • That is so much fun!!!

  • bea auther was one of the very best entertainers of all time. i luv ms lansbury

  • I just wanna say that Bea Arthur was the ultimate person who could really make people laugh. There's nobody else like her, absolutely NOBODY else like her...and there never will be. We miss you, Bea.

  • love it missing Bea after watching this and Angela is simply wonderful and her voice is tremendous

  • miss you Bea Arthur Thankyou for the joy !

  • that was so good gurls

  • These two are so amazing. Angela looks simply classy, her dress is so gorgeous and Bea's timing is always spot-on. They couldn't have picked two better ladies to perform this. Miss you Bea!

  • Does anyone else really like Angela's dress?

  • Bea Is truly missed

  • They are just too cute. Love Angela's gown.

  • This is what hollywood is really all about, these are two Hollywood icons at there best and I love them...............

  • After a really hard day these gals make everything great again. What entertainers!

  • I wished Bea lived to be a 100 like that one actor...

  • I've seen this a gazillion times. Just love it! Good old Broadway hoofers.

  • Jerome Lawrence once tried to seduce us.

    We refused.

  • two legends in one song, just perfect

  • okay who the hell thumb down this vid and why?!! Wish they sung more together This is so CUTE!!!

  • R.I.P BEA ARTHUR

  • Fantastic, these ladies shone like the lights in broadway - pure class.

  • The Stage and Broadway doesn't make em like these gals anymore. Now we get guest stars from Hollywood and pop stars to bellow out.

  • fucking legends.

  • The very best in broadway entertainment and entertainers! They don't make them like that anymore. Two great ladies both on and off the stage!

  • Angela and Bea should have done the movie together. What a shame it didn't happen. Thanks for this tid bit.

  • OMG..... this is so classic.... now THIS is what I call making history

  • where is that from?? I think it is great but I link the version of Lucy and bea better

  • Can anyone tell me if this is the only piece of footage that exists of Angela & Bea performing from Mame? I'm looking for anything on Mame with Angela & Bea! Thanks.

  • Angela would have been great in the film. People around Lucille Ball should have discouraged her from attempting the role.

  • Can't believe I was lucky enough to see them do this when I was little! What a great number from a great show!

  • Legends!!! So much love for both of them! <3

  • lol i love how bea breaks persona at the end and hugs angela

  • two of the very best

  • Two of my all-time favourite actresses.

  • Reminds me of my Wausau friend Vicki. Those were the days!

  • Gotta Love It!

  • fabulous!

  • Two women who should have been in the same Mame; either film or musical

  • I love this song :)

  • Angela Lansbury is the First Lady of American theatre! Can't wait to see her in A Little Night Music!

  • Angela Lansbury is the First Lady of American theatre! Can't wait to see her in A Little Night Music!

  • miss you bea

  • Wow, she never changed her hairdo after the Golden Girls.

  • @Sulla2300 She did, in fact it changed during the Golden Girls, it was longer by the end and after it as well.

  • This song reminds me of my sister and me. The playful insulting banter :)

  • ...And then there's MAUDE!

  • Outstanding Women--loved Angela's dress......talented and funny....

  • I love Lucille Ball but I think Angela would have been better in the movie Mame

  • It's such a shame that Lansbury wasn't in the movie. I think that most Broadway lovers agree with this. Don't get me wrong. I love Lucy, but she was not a singer. Listen to "wildcat" and you'll see what I mean lol! Ty for the post

  • It's just that Angela wan't popular enough in the eyes of the studio. I think Lucy was adorable, but Angela would have been killer.

  • @DownHomeWithMyrtle That's for sure!

  • @DownHomeWithMyrtle Agreed. Lucy was famous in her own right, but she couldn't carry a tune in bag with handles....

  • I LOVE THESE TWO!

  • thats kool haha the lady from murder she wrote and the lady from golden girls :)

  • R.I.P-Bea Arthur We shall miss you.

  • I saw the original on Broadway with both of them at least 7 times. It was fabulous. This brings back such wonderful memories!

  • Just brilliant...love these ladies

  • Goddesses...

  • angela l has a great dress
