  • ??? uhh i have a test tomarrow and im never gonna understand this

  • Thankyou so much for this video! I am a 15 year old girl and i thought and eclipse happened every month because it takes one month for the moon to make a full travel around the Earth. (so at some point the moon is infront of the sun) You have solved my problem and another thing which makes sense is that the orbit is slanted. Thankyou so much you helped me to solve my problem !

  • Now I understand. this phenomenon. when the mean position of a full lunar eclipse the moon and sun in a straight line in the position of Umbra. I mean months not because sunlight is called a total eclipse ..

  • that chick just likes to hear her self talk

  • that's not true about the partial eclipse of the moon though. for that to occur, part of the moon needs to move into the umbra (the full shadow). what they are demonstrating is what is called a Penumbral lunar eclipse.

  • so... in the last picture... what do the people from the dark side of the earth see? how can they see the moon?

  • because the earth's atmosphere does something to the light, some of it causes the moon to have a red tint (it looks orange during this case) when it is rising or setting. it does the same thing during a total eclipse of the moon, only, since no pure light is hitting it, it is completely red.

  • I am talking about the picture from 1:40 . How can people from the umbra see the moon?

  • actually, the phase of the moon there is called the new moon. that's when the moon is on the day time side of the earth. meaning you can't see it at night. you can see the moon during the day, even if it isn't a solar eclipse, because light reflects off of earth, and off of the moon again. its called earth shine.

  • thank you. now i get it.

  • OMG!

  • awsome

  • the moon looks funny during a partial eclipse of the moon LOL XD
