  • Awesome, It was well worth turning the volume up.

  • Love the EMD power.

  • Former RF&P (Now CSX) Acca Yard?

  • @kels94 Yes... Richmond VA, Aaca yard.

    See my website: csxaccayard.nlms.info

(Has not been updated for years, as I don't have the time.)

  • The unit is a former Chessie 7614 unit.

  • @emilyrampage When the flash is on, it indicates that the locomotive is operated in remote control. Mainly for yard personel to worn them.

  • Does it's so loud in real?

  • @Cap10Aerobatics Yes it does. At night, I work nighshift btw, it's really noticeable b/c it's the only noise maker in the yard. Especialy when they pick up a new, large, cut of cars out of a inbound track, to get switched.

  • Them SD-40-2 units to me can't be beat!. Did you see that UP last year recalled their

entire 400 plus SD-40-s fleet for either rebuilt, and to install Micro Processors in each unit? They must know something we all know-aGREAT LOCOMOTIVE!

  • change the title to "Sound of" instead of "sound off"

  • oh my god!!! nice sound but... what the hell is that usa flag on the scena??????? xDDD Jesus!!!!!!!!!

  • They're all empty. That SD couldn't pull if they were full.

  • Or the sound of American power...Hence the flag and EMD 645 :)

  • @guilford681

    ! second that motion,guilford681.

    E xceptionally

  • these loco are crap and why do yanks blow the horn on and off for about half an hour

  • @20basher That isn't the horn, it's your mother after hot, sweaty, raunchy sex.

  • @20basher fuck off you dick. and take your class 20 lawn mowers with ya!

Crap?? Yeah rrrrright, thats why they sold nearly 4000 of them. Thats why EMD sold thousands of locomotives, world wide, and still do.

Fact of the matter is, the SD40 is one of the most succesfull loco's of all time and thats FACT.

  • @20basher No offense, but if diesels built in the UK were superior, they wouldn't be replacing them with the EMD Class 66 - which is essentially an updated export version of the SD40-2.

  • i was gonna say this looks like Richmond, been through there a couple of times on Amtrak 92 and 97

  • Looks like a remote control unit by the cab lamp and the antenna. Did not look like there was anyone in the cab as well.

  • Very nice!

  • Isnt ironic that SD40s replaced the GP9s from mainline duty and now there replacing the GP9s again in yard duty.

  • @iggyjill

I thought SD40's were long-haul mainline engines. Are they eventually going to gave Dash 9's doing yard duty eventually?

  • @jpgbrookes i've already seen Dash-9's working in yards sadly enough

  • I love SD 40-2s!

  • @chessie1976 I have a LEGO Maersk SD40-2 :D

  • Ex RF&P Aaca yard

  • Where has this clip gone?

  • Thanks for letting me know. I have no idea what has happnend to the clip. I did not remove it.

  • You tube does not allow me to reload the video clip. I have reloaded the clip twice but both times it is denied/rejected reason : double upload.

  • type &fmt=18 at the end of the address bar and you'll get a high-quality version that's still online. I've seen this happen to some other videos.

  • Sorry i meant a B23-7 not B25.....

  • Just watched it, great clip thanks. Are Sd40-2s taller than a B25-7 in the real world? Jut wondered because i just bought one of each in N scale from different manufacturers and the SD40-2 is taller and the cab is bigger, is this right?

  • They are almost the same height over the cab. But the SD40-2 has a flush hood and radiator fans that are 10-11" higher; the B23-7 has a lower hood and exhaust stack/radiators that are only about 3" taller than the cab. Overall, the SD40-2 is about 8 inches taller.

But if you compare apples to apples (C30-7 vs SD40-2) the difference is smaller. A C30-7 is about 5" taller than a B23-7.

The cab is actually larger on the B23-7, because it's longer and the floor is not as high above the walkway.

  • Just Great! Gewoon Super!

  • It's not often that you get to an EMD 645 engine in full throttle like that. I live in SoCal w/ ATSF 3751 & at Fullerton RR Days this month, I saw 2 SD40-2s leading a GP60M & B40-8W on a double-stack- in run 8. Big steam is 1st for me, but hearing the roar of those 2 locos over over the other 2 was a thing of beauty. I can't wait to hear Metrolink's MP36 locos w/ their 645E-3 engine.

  • haha copywright.... "I copy Wrighted this!! if anyone even lays an eye on this loco an ANYWHERE an ANYTIME I will sue you for your life!" stupied copywrights :)

  • Looks like an RCO job.

  • At the time of this video there was no RCO crew operating this job. RCO at this job did not start a few weeks ago. You are right this is a Remote Control Locomotive but not in remote service at this time. The orange lights on the cab roof are flashing when in RCO mode, but will still be able to be operated manualy.

  • where was this?

  • Acca yard Richmond Virginia, 19 january 2008
