There is actually a term for that. Its called "operational bias". That means they only have so much time during the workday to write or learn about a complex issue.
Another factor is the "medium bias" which would be the biases the medium such as newspaper present - only so much space.
Those biases you mentioned come from budget cuts, especially newsroom staff, which is among their biggest expenses. But these broadcasters make HUGE profits. It's just greed, plain greed.
For instance, most of them no longer have anyone reporting from in Iraq, a war which we're paying for.
Of course, there are a number of other biases. Conflicts of interest and so forth. (NBC->Genrl Elctrc->war profiteer, etc.)

Actually, medium and operational biases existed long before the recent budget cuts, but its true budget cuts have worsened them. Also, I agree greed is a big part of it all, we don't have to get bogged down into details at this point.

And you're just wrong. Media doesn't do those things anymore. Take Fox's coverage of the presidential race, for example. Have you heard any "reporter" of their explain ONCE the various stances the candidates have taken? Other media outlets do it in different ways, but that would be an obvious example.

The best way to combat the mainstream media is to only buy music, movies, magazines, and newspapers from alternative media, independent studios, and small record labels. Sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don't use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. Don't even look at a trailer to their movies. Give up a little so your kids don't have to give up a lot.

Why is 'news' on TV? To make rich people richer. If you are under the impression that television news is about anything else I am afraid you have been misled. FOX, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS are all corporations owned by larger corporations and this results in massive conflicts of interests. You can take a network at its word when they say they are 'fair and balanced' or you can act on your own best interests, get news from a variety of sources and learn to form your own opinions.

Amen, I'm trying to get my mom to get rid of cable once and for all as it's such a waste of money. The only good entertainment on it now are Adult Swim and portions of comedy central. Everything else I can either do without or obtain elsewhere. Also, taking money away from Time Warner makes me happy :)

I tell ya 1 thing, having just been to the website mentioned in the vid, and read that beautiful top media ownership list(I love good news) we can all assume i'm sure, that although they're on the way out, they'll do all in their power to make themselves seem like they're still all mighty.

There is actually a term for that. Its called "operational bias". That means they only have so much time during the workday to write or learn about a complex issue.
Another factor is the "medium bias" which would be the biases the medium such as newspaper present - only so much space.

Those biases you mentioned come from budget cuts, especially newsroom staff, which is among their biggest expenses. But these broadcasters make HUGE profits. It's just greed, plain greed.
For instance, most of them no longer have anyone reporting from in Iraq, a war which we're paying for.
Of course, there are a number of other biases. Conflicts of interest and so forth. (NBC->Genrl Elctrc->war profiteer, etc.)

Actually, medium and operational biases existed long before the recent budget cuts, but its true budget cuts have worsened them. Also, I agree greed is a big part of it all, we don't have to get bogged down into details at this point.
If we can all just agree right now, that mainstream media has become "junk media", then we can start this.
Eventually we'll have to define that, as best we can, but I think it would be more fun to get it started and go from there.

And you're just wrong. Media doesn't do those things anymore. Take Fox's coverage of the presidential race, for example. Have you heard any "reporter" of their explain ONCE the various stances the candidates have taken? Then they engage in mudslinging of the worst kind, calling Obama a terrorist and implying he's a Muslim.
Other media outlets do it in different ways, but that would be an obvious example.

1) At first it will only be a few people, so we won't be able to keep the comment "JUNK MEDIA" below the video for long. Also, we should only do it once per person, so that its technically not spam. Just our (mass) opinion.
2) RE coordination: We need some shared channel that we all subscribe to. This one seems like they might do it, IDK. The channel could in theory, post a new video pointing to a video or video(s) that we should all comment JUNK MEDIA on.

We need a simple video with a graphic saying 'Junk Media' having some snappy sort of lounge music in the background.
Elevator music, you know...
Make the video available to people who actually DO mind that junk media exists, thank you very much, and want to weigh in.
Then we post that video en masse as video responses to said garbage audio/visual information.
Video responses are less numerous (more sticky), and always placed above comments.

The best way to combat the mainstream media is to only buy music, movies, magazines, and newspapers from alternative media, independent studios, and small record labels. Sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don't use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. Don't even look at a trailer to their movies. Give up a little so your kids don't have to give up a lot.

Why is 'news' on TV? To make rich people richer. If you are under the impression that television news is about anything else I am afraid you have been misled. FOX, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS are all corporations owned by larger corporations and this results in massive conflicts of interests. You can take a network at its word when they say they are 'fair and balanced' or you can act on your own best interests, get news from a variety of sources and learn to form your own opinions.

Glenn Beck represents the type of "common sense" anyone may have if they do not recognize the complexities of the issues we face today. i wouldnt have any problem with you if you made some decent, educated points, but you are plainly ignorant. 1) he has repeatedly said that he doesn't think all muslims are killers and that it is up to the peaceful majority of muslims to stop the radicals 2) mormons are as insane as any other religious people. they don't have "magical underwear" 3) he only had secret service protection because he openly speaks his opinions andn thus people wanted him dead. and what do you mean by corporate shill?

he says that ...and then says the exact opposite right after,thats called double speak.mormons do have "magic under ware" & i will agree with you,they are crazy like all other religions AS THEY ARE ALL CRAZY and reporters dont get secret service protection, only members of the executive branch and staff do.this would mean the white house would be supporting him to a degree, why would they do that? he spreads propaganda for them. other people speak their minds and dont have S.S protection.shill.

i will repeat. you have no idea what you are talking about with the mormon thing. i was raised mormon and i know for a fact that the underwear isnt "magic". thats where you are ignorant. you dont know your facts. you heard something about underwear and immediately say that its magical and mormons are crazy. i personally think all religion is crazy. the whole "trilogy" thing is just about as stupid as secret underwear.
