what is it? about 42,000,000 human abortions a day? There's something that braks my heart! Why don't you go into the hospital and do a video on that? People seem to care more about anamials than humans. Pigs are pigs. I've seen them happy, I've seen them sad, even had some attack me. Most of there happiness comes from how much they get fed. And why is it always dark when you guys make these videos? do you guys brake at night in or what?
well get over it! we all have to eat and this way is better than shooting them. Oh hold on a minute........ if we didnt have this way the pork indst. wouldnt exsist!
@fargo2win yes , but do we have to abuse them. when hunters hunt the instint kill, when animals are raised on farms to be killed they live veryun happy painfull lifes, how would you like it if you were raised to be killed, everyday of your life was full of pain and agony , have a heart yu sick fuck
It's so obviously wrong, on any moral ethical level. I do understand why it's revered as the "most efficient" way. It's still the wrong way. Thanks for posting.
This broke my heart, even more than the slaughter videos.. Bless you guys for bringing a few moments of happiness and compassion into the lives of these poor animals..

@nappa666 Lame. You are so pathetic to come onto a page that is exposing cruelty and act like an ass. Get some self esteem. What a miserable person you are.
@bekindtoanimals100 you know what i have a change of heart ive said once ive met a pig more than likely i will be against what goes on to them, and now im agaisnt the torture of pigs
@kingcrimson234 Are you serious? Really? Whether an animal has a soul or not they are feeling creatures with emotions who have rights. It's ignorance like yours that allows these atrocities to exist.
WOW THANK YOU for doing that for those sows!!! I've tried to find a pig farm near me to see if I can do the same, but there are none in my area & am unemployed so I cant afford to travel (i live in Nashville, TN). i've gained a huge interest in this issue & was very happy to hear that a law is being passed 2 make cruelty 2 livestock a felony, but i wish that farrowing crates would be outlawed! i am writing 2 my local lawmakers 2 see what i can do. thanks again 4 ur kindness & love! God bless!
Yea, wouldn't you just LOVE to be trapped in a small closet in which you cannot step forwards or backwards, or turn around properly. After a while, every movement becomes AGONY and you're forced to stand in your own feces. Sure, it's warm and you get fed bland food...but just think about it. Imagine the closterphobia
I hate to tell you this but I have a 4-H breeding project involving a couple of sows and I use farrowing cates! They are not cruel or inhumane. The pigs are fed twice a day, and the crates are cleaned out and hosed underneath to keep flies away. The crates are used to protect the babies from being laid on by their mother and killed keeping your production rate up! Sorry but its true! They do more good than harm and you guys should read both sides before choosing.
Surely the comfort of the pigs is paramount compared to production rates? The video seems to show that sadly the young pigs are still trampled even in these farrowing crates.
Having said that you probably let your pigs out to run around, which I don't think is the case in the large scale industry :)
Sadly enough, in large scale operations the comfort is not priority. The production rate matters more because it helps keep the cost of the meat down for the consumer. There is still going to be some pigs that are stepped on yes, but not nearly as many as in a free range situtation. My sows are kept in a pasture until four days before they are due. Then they are put in the crate. The piglets are weaned at 21 days and put in a large indoor pen to keep them warm.
And as respects the feeding strategy: Free living pigs are occupied 70% of their daily activity time with searching for food. So feeding sows twice a day isnt really what a pig wants. But i know this things are not easy to manage.
I think we all have to be less homo economicus. Because farmers cant keep their animals in better, but often more expensive, housing systems if consumers are not willing to pay the true price of meat from animals which had a good live.
Perhaps because they are bored.... Never heard about the scottish experiment with domestic pigs which they put in a big park? --> They developed quite the same behavior like wild ones. They actually like to search for food, because they did it even if they were supplementary fed.
Only because they had to revert back to their natural instincts! Go out to a hog farm some time and check it out. Feeder pigs are giving food 24 hours a day. If you watch them, they eat a little and then they go sleep the rest of the time!
Ok, its easy to clean farrowing crates and its probably the most economic way to produce piglets but keeping sows in crates is the most unhuman way to hold them.
I have a 4-H breeding project and all of my litters are born in farrowing crates. In no way is it inhuman. The sows where actually happier this year to come in from the cold and be put in the crate where there are heat lamps.
First: Pigs are too intelligent to be kept in such crates.
And then: They need place and straw to build farrowing nests otherwise they develop coping behavior like bar biting. Sure, farrowing crate forces the sow to lay down slowly, but there are also other housing systems which prevent farrows from being crushed. In nature swine have a special place where they defecate whereas in crates they have to lay at the same place where they defecate and urinate.
Straw can make piglets have lung conditions and and the dust is not good for them to breath in. There lungs are really small for their body size. I have been raising pigs for almost ten years now and even when they are outside and in the open they still chew on the bars of their pen. So don't tell me that it is because they are inside a farrow crate. They will chew on anything. They may defecate and urinate in the same place but it gets cleaned out, like I already said!
Bless you for giving the sows some treats. You could tell they appreciated that act of kindness even though their lives are nothing short of hell. I've cut way down on my meat consumption. I truly appreciate your kindness to these animals.
I thank goodness people like you, like us, got to me many years ago and convinced me to stop eating meat and all the rest. This is all absolutely criminal. At least as vegans/vegetarians we can know we are not the cause of this, we do not partake in it, it is not done for us. Thank you for having the courage/good hearts to go in there. I think I would have broken down. Favorited & 5/5 stars.
i totally agree with you.. i'm not a "better then you" vegetarian.. but i live in a family of COMPLETE meat eaters.. its hell they think im weird.. but i feel like im not part of the problem.. and i know im not paying for this to happen!!! these videos kept me on track when i first gave meat up.. now they just make me super sad...
wow I didn't know pigs got treated that bad I've been to some organic farms and the animals are not frothing at the mouth constantly and stuck in something called a crate they get room to move and breath and I didn't see mothers crushing their piglets either in fact I saw the pig give her young time to move out of the way before she lay down but I guess i don't know everything I'm not gna form an opinion
@Sshelly34213 Were you at the organic farm for the killing? The breeding of these animals and the killing are totally unnecessary, no matter how "humane" people may say their lives are. Organic farms have employees and those employees do what they want behind closed doors. It's not done to feed me and other vegans. And why not form an opinion about what this video shows?... it sounds like you formed an opinion that "organic farms" are okay. Thanks for the reply anyways.
@1221solstice2012 Hi I'm sorry, the poster who made that comment was not me, someone else signed in and used my account. (no hackers it was someone I knew)
Wow, I was surprised at how the animals just lit up and came to life when they got the apples. Their eyes especially. You'd think they'd be totally defeated. Anyway, thanks for doing this for them. Made me (and them, I'm sure) smile.
This is a very sad way to treat animals, espacially those that are going to slaughter for human consumption. But, more tragically how about the poor human babies that are ripped from the mother's womb and killed through abortion, and more sickening, partial-birth abortion. Let's think on that! Isn't human life more important than animal life?
This is so sad! I feel bad for the mother pigs living like this and for the poor dead piglets. It was nice that these people tried to bring a little joy to their lives for one day at least.
@depater14 “Pigs have the cognitive ability to be quite sophisticated. Even more so than dogs and certainly [more so than] three-yearolds,” says Dr Donald Broom of Cambridge University. Dr Broom has created a ‘pig mirror test’, in which pigs are shown a mirror, before being encouraged to retrieve objects reflected in the mirror.
The results of these tests suggest that pigs appreciate the difference between reality and the reflected image, thus demonstrating a high level of cognitive awareness – similar to that achieved by young children when they first become aware of themselves.
If you can't go vegan (I can't imagine why not, but you may have your reasons), just reduce the meat and other animal products you eat to a low level. Buy organic food only.
i have to do an essay about animal abuse and i learn alot of horrible things.

Look: Wild sows build a nest and then get their babies.
Let the domestic sows do the same. Pigs need straw to build a nest and you will see, it's very seldom that a little piggy is killed by it's mother.
The way sows are treated nowadays is inhumane and the only reason for it is, that it's more expensive to clean the stalls if you use straw.
