  • way cool I am learning all i can every day from every sorce. I live in the back country in the mountains of Idaho wood is abundent I am building one for home power use and truck mounted....

  • Weld fins inside the retort like a dryer and tumble the material far better. put a stack at opposite end of feed ram mounted on a air tight char bin. Feed the shredded material using a conveyor belt and now you have continuous flow a big advantage over a batch fed system. Just a few ideals I cam up with watching your video. It will work you just need to tie up a few loose ends using your imagination. I can't tell you everything. Ha! Good Luck.

  • Don't get stuck on wood chips you can use all organic materials. the best being sewer sludge after it goes through a treatment plant. Mix this with the shredded waste stream of MSW containing plastics, styrofoam, rubber tires, paper, oils, solvents, vegetation any organic or oil based product including hazardous wastes will all be easily converted with clean emissions and non-leaching char as the end result. Sell the char to be used as a filtering agent fo rwater. Completely safe. Just FYI

  • To bad you have to batch feed the system. You should try laying the retort horizontally on casters encased in a steel oven with a gear reduction electric motor powered by the diesel engine to tun the retort slowly allowing material to flow from end to end in about 15 minutes. inject the feed stock using a hydraulic ram also powerd by the diesel. Use 15% of the fuel to heat the oven a convyor belt to dump shredded material in the path of the ram. you have a self sustaining continuos flow system.

  • Very nice. As a technical matter the swedes would lock the actual fuel delivery rack control into the amount for very slow idle ("pilot injection") and then give the now-unemployed centrifugal governor the job of opening/closing the woodgas metering valve. Your way is valid in that the oil is a biofuel also. Independance, Kansas municipal deisel uses sewerage gas in a very large deisel genset in same non-primary fuel fashion.

  • i'm a great proponent of wood gas/diesel dual fuel mode, it's the best of the both!

i think this is a downdraft gasifier, only the fan's blowing the smoke up at first for the char to light faster...

  • @bluemoondiadochi is correct, it is a downdraft gasifier

  • @ger261 thx! great setup you've got!

  • You have made many improvements to your electric plant Danillo! Keep up the good work. Are you still using coffee tree wood for fuel?

  • @Besteyecando yes, I'm still using pruning of coffee trees, thank you.

  • It seems to do a great job as an updraft gasifier too... Beautiful plumes of smoke :-)

  • I need to do this next,do you shut the deisel fuel rite off atfer warm up.Love your rig.

  • Gratulálok !

  • Thanks for posting the video and also the link from the yahoo woodgas group.
