I really like ganseki nage. There are so many ways to do the technique. I've been at this a while and have seen many variations. It really is a great technique.
for those saying its a weird henka becuz hes doin it as a hip throw should stop cuz it works better as a hip throw. the version u see hatsumi do has no real application. do it how it works, be a progressive martial artist while keeping a traditional mind set
But when done in a black Gi, it become more then that. It become Bullshitdo; the way of the shitting cattle. A dangerous martial art where everything old is new again with a new name and become a secret technique!
hmmm it is similar what we learn but it seams that u used your strenght to trow him over... this will not work against havier opponent (or any1 if they are in balance)
rather then lifting him we go around in circle with our shoulders and hips, back straight. it launches any opponent to the ground. if hes in balance then just do zenpo otoshi ukemi =D
That was a strange rendition of Ganseki Nage. Usually it is applied when the attacker comes at you, you lock them up as shown when they reach for you and you pivot into a long stance and turn your shoulders for the throw, not perform a hip throw as demonstrated. When done correctly the uke should get the feeling that you disappear and before they know whats going on their on the ground.
@ninjalla Why??? What am I looking for? It is hard to see because he uses poor posture but he is applying it slightly different than what you are doing here. Sometimes he is sliding his leg back to drop his uke straight down, other times he is throwing him around his body and forward. It's just hard to see because he incorrectly bends at the waist instead of staying erect and turning the shoulders to sling the uke.
@ninjalla Turning the shoulders is the correct way to apply Ganseki nage because you are on the inside of an imaginary circle and you opponent is on the outside of the circle. That means his body has a longer path to travel so the slinging motion is increased due to the centrfical (sp?) force. I hope that makes sense.
@ninjalla looked at the video bt still not sure what your point is. These are valid variations or henka of ganseki nage. When properly perform in it's usual form, the throw is accomplished by rotating your upper body. The uke is thrown due to centrifical force. You are on the inside of the circle, uke is on the outside so as you spin he is thrown because he is traveling a further distance, off balanced and can't keep up. Force is lost by bending at the waist, your upper body should stay erect.
@takashiclan No, Judo and Aikido are sport versions of Aiki-jujutsu and therefore their throws are very circular where the SIMILAR throws in Ninjutsu are linear making them harder to roll out of and also increase the damage done when the uke hits the ground. Also, Ninjutsu uses more of a "whole body" approach in all of its various aspects.
@apryor2006 Ninjutsu covers many aspects and as such many arts look similar to it but the application of the techniques and philosophies and mindsets behind it make it a lot different. Although, many of the differences are subtle and not easily noticed without training in the art for many years.
this is not ganseki nage

This comment has received too many negative votes show
is that just a variation of Ogoshi? and it seems it is only working because uke is bracing his left arm.
P.s. Ninjitsu as a martial art is a myth.

it seems to me that Ninjutsu is comprised of various Japnese martial arts..like a LOT of Judo and a lot of Aikido so far I've seen..

We do a similar throw in Shoshin Ryu. The only difference is that we strive for less movement.
