  • Thanks a lot mister! I love animating, I'm building my own lightbox at the moment. (Very cheep, only €50,-)

  • But don, what if you are left handed and you need that one to draw?

  • Genius!you are the man Mr Bluth

  • Witchcraft!!!

  • Dear Mr. Bluth,

I can't wait to see what your next project will be. I was raised on the films that you animated, and your characters always seemed so...real...It was like you weren't scared to really show us what was going on. Titan AE was genius. If you ever need help in the script department, I'd be happy to help you out! Always looking for a new project. Or, just an idea, why not do a few short clips on your youtube production? Today's kids need you!

  • Mr. Bluth:

I am very excited to have found your YouTube channel.

Watching this has convinced me that you must have been the animator responsible for Arthur when he was transformed into a bird in The Sword in the Stone. Am I wrong? Was it Larson? Someone else?

While I am at it, did you animate the croaking frog in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh? I'm sure there are fan sites that could answer these questions for me. I'd rather ask you directly, though, since the option is open to me.

  • If you have a solid understanding of the principals of traditional animation, you will be surprised how easy it will translate to CG animation and flash. The pencil touching the paper is an extension of your soul; the emotion will flow...

  • Thankyou for your reply, I've never really liked animating in flash or other CG software. I have always stayed loyal to traditional animation.Truth is that its been my dream and passion my whole life and I had this feeling like I am being pushed towards this

    (sounds insane,I know).

    :)

thanks again means alot to me

  • Don Bluth

    Is this normal?

I am new to the animation desk I notice when I was trying my hand at the traditional way like you showed me here in this video,It was hard for me to distinguish the sketch lines from one another.

I put on some nice mtunes got out my animation desk and started to begin drawing and scanned in one drawing at a time and watched what I have created and was amazed at how much emotion and life it had compared to flash.

  • Mr.Bluth after watching your flims i have decided to become an animater and i have improved greatly but i still want to know more about the buisness and how exactly you do certain things. Thanks!

  • You need to have a basic understanding of the principals of animation. You can't just decide to become an animator, you have to want it more than anything in the world. Watch our tutorial which is available on Ebay. Run a search on ebay for: Don Bluth Animation Tutorial.

  • Thank for that but my grandfather was an animator so i know a little of the buisness already, sadley he past away when i was 4 so i never really got to talk. When you say want it more then anything do you mean that you should have the feeling that if you couldn't draw that you would die?

  • omigash I luv your Animations :D Disney is nothing compared to yours. You ROCK!!Mr. Bluth when you draw characters to you go by forms or do you use a somewhat gesture like quality?

  • Again, Mr. Bluth... simply amazing tutorials and VERY helpful to those who seek to keep the art of traditional animation alive.

It's very gratifying to see you do it in action. I can't think of a better way to help teach so many future animators than what you're doing here.

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the kind words...

  • I am your biggest fanboy.

  • I was flipping my animation papers like Mr Bluth and I wasn't even aware! Many papercuts suffered, but seems the most efficient way.

Cheers for these uploads! I'll be checking up here on a regular basis.

  • thank you

  • Thank you
