This is a blessing in disguise for the North...now they can put all their attention in the North. Who knows, there might be vast oil deposits under the Northern Sudanese desert. We Africans fight over petty things while non-Africans lust for our continent and her vast untapped resources. Best wishes for the Southern Sudanese people...they deserve their freedom after experiencing all those wars. One more country that might surpass my motherland (Somalia)- my people better get their act together.
Today is celebration. Tomorrow people will demand jobs and development. Will this country be like the failed regimes of Ethiopia, Eritrea or a Botswana or a Ghana. That is the challenge.
The results are clear already. They look happy & you can see years of suffering all over their faces even with the bright smiles. All the best - hope you respect one another & dont let greed & corruption into your system from this moment. It will be hard to deal with it later. Take a look around the neighbours & see what they have done with independence 50 yrs on!
A historic day for the Southerners. My best wishes to this country.
It is rediculous to be a second class citizen in your own country!! Even when the people treating you like a second class citizen are blacks claiming to be Arabs, calling you a slave. The funny thing is the true Arabs in Arabic countrires don't even recognise the Nothern Sudanese as Arabs and the word they use to reffer to them is slave.
