@al7abab Don't get me wrong, iniesta is a wonderfull player I mean he's in top 2 best midfielders right now but it was sneijder that did all the work all the passes all the goals for the netherlands and being in the top 3 top scorers of worldcup 2010 says it all although iniesta made the goal in the final, that's indeed very special. But counting the whole world cup, imo, sneijder was better then iniesta in that world cup.

Sneijder won the treble with Inter, Cruyff couldn't even win the European Cup with his precious Barcelona. If Cruyff stayed with Ajax and didn't turn his back on his country like he did in 78, then Cruyff would be the best but in the end, he's just a douche. Cruyff is certainly up there, but Sneijder has surpassed him.

@yoyothriller Cruyff is probably THE best player of all time. He is the most influential player of the 20th century. Ever heard of Total Football? Cruyff won 3 ballon d'ors as a player as well as 3 (successive) European Cups. How many players can say they have done that? His football philosophy has given rise to clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona, the latter having one of the best squads of all time. Spain actually owe their WC success to the dutch - specifically, to Cruyff.

There's a reason Arsenal haven't won crap in ages and that is they don't have Xavi and Iniesta to work the passes. The players make the system work, not the other way around. Where was Cruyff after he left Ajax? What did he do? Absolutely nothing. He had a few good years as a player, but best ever? Hardly.

Cruyff was the lynchpin of the dutch team. he moulded the team around him and told them how to play. Do you know anything about football? Do you know what the La Masia academy was? Cruyff built that academy as a replica of the Jong academy of Ajax. If Cruyff isn't so great, why did his team win 3 successive European Cups then?

By comparison to his Ajax days its quite a poor result especially if you consider the fact he was there for 5 years. His philosophy was barely successful while he was playing, how can you say he was so great when the man himself couldn't make it work past 74. A few great years does not make you the best ever. The best ever plays great his whole career. Pele did.

@EZdrifter21 I grow weary of this so lets wrap it up. Cruyff was good, up to 74. 75 and on he did nothing as a player. His philosophy didn't work after 74. He didn't play in 78 so don't give this crap of two "back to back finals" because he had nothing to do with the second one. The ONLY successful club today using his philosophy (a variation mind you) is Barca and thats because they have the players to do it. 3 years at the top doesn't make you the best ever. Pele was the best his whole career.

@yoyothriller he had everything to do with the second one, he set up the team for it. total football is hard to play and the only club successful at it is Barcelona - who were set up by Cruyff and revolutionised by Rijkaard and co. Pele was great but he was great in the obscure brazilian league, and he was playing with great players. Cruyff built the team around him, he told the other players what to do and moulded the entire dutch side for back to back finals.

Players rarely went outside their country in the 60s so knocking Pele for that is just ignorant. Pele's Santos side beat Maldini and Co. of AC MILAN in the Intercontinental Cup Final if you need more proof. Geez, how many revolutions did the Dutch have? Cruyff sure, but Rijkaard too? Hardly! You are just in love with the Oranje and refuse to think that maybe others are superior.
