  • I splurged and bought the 26 pound one from Suples. I got the synthetic leather and saved a small amount of money. The thing is frankly awesome. It really taxes everything. Especially whe doing the overhead swings. Man your abs really feel it after a few swings.

  • I actually own 2 bulgarian bags. The guy in California was really nice through the transaction and the video was pretty helpful. The straps as a safety precaution and the end handles come in handy from time to time. With that being said I am no stranger to making my own equipment. I can remember making my own ladder drills in middle school, cones and weight vest. Great video, great idea and totally useful. I can make several like this when the summer starts. Thanks a lot.

  • Making one myself..those prices are pretty steep. Great job on the vid!

  • great job -- this is the first youtube dyi that i'm definitely going to try out.

  • Holy poop that looks hard! I think I'll fill mine with popcorn! lol

  • Would have been if he launched it onto the hood of one of those cars

  • What weight did you end up with using sand?

  • Nice job dude. Thanks for the info.

  • the tube can be sealed/welded with "epdm" cement

  • cool!

  • I've heard people say they have problems with the sand slowly spilling out and therefore I was thinking of using rubber mulch too. What exactly went wrong with the rubber mulch, was it filling up before you got the entire 30lbs in? Nice instructional video, thanks for sharing.

  • Does this help with weightlifting? Just wondering

  • I'm Bulgarian and I've never seen these bags

  • @BoyanZhelyazkov They have been used by the wrestlers here in Bulgaria. The coach Ivan Ivanov made it popilar around the world.

  • Well done man.

  • Fantastic idea, thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome video and idea, thanks so much for sharing it!

  • HEy how did you get so ripped ? what do u eat or take?

  • Just made my first one of these. I used a 19 inch inner tube bought in a tire store. I use only wood pellets and my bag turned out to be around 15 pounds. Too light for the long run but a great tool to learn the movements and I was able to get a great conditioning workout by swinging the bag for time. I promise, you will get tired before the bag does.

  • Hi. I have a couple of questions about your bag. I looked in the comments but no one seems to mention them: 1; What size tyre tubes did you use to make yours? 2; Didn't you find the tape to be slippery once you hand start sweating? Thanks.

  • wow i am surprised i am living in bulgaria and i dont know about this bag nice going !

  • awesome, i watched this then went out bought everything for about $30, made it in about 10 mins.

  • How long do you train each time, and how long is good. I do about 6 exercises (5 reps per exercises) then repete for 15 min (amrap). I need some help here

  • Great video guy!! Thanks!!

  • Thanks so much for this video ;as I was just about to buy 1 of those expensive bags ...now I can send my kids to college

  • @GoochFSUvp haha, funny guy

  • @mwich40 You my friend are now officially invited to be my best man at my wedding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,... whenever the hell that is lol

  • @mwich40

Did you ever make lighter version with the mulch? Also do you know what the material is used in the already made versions?

  • @GoochFSUvp Yea maybe not going to pay for college for your kids but you could get a barbell and bumpers with the money you save

  • Where did you buy the tire inner tube?

  • @JollyHolly1 tractor supply store

  • hard core mate and big thanks I will be making one asap!

  • I am from Bulgaria and i didnt know about these bags :D

  • @persian1997 nikoi bulgarin ne znae za tqh !!! :D mn interesno nali :D

  • Matt I made one to your specs and mixed it in as a finisher to my regular barbell

workouts. It's great although the 47# weight almost killed me at first. My brother,

who plays triple A baseball, got ahold of it and used it in his preseason training

and he's really cranking the longball along with greater throwing velocity(infielder).

Considering the cost of making this thing , sports trainers are nuts not to have one. Thanks for the original post.

  • Hey mate, a quick replacement for this is a kettlebell and a piece of rope or a towel. Works great for me!

  • Just made my own bag and took it on vacation, so easy to pack in the van with two 5 gallon buckets and a broken axe handle and get at it.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Im bulgarian and i hear about the " bulgarian bag " for the first time ...

  • Cool!!!

  • I've seen several comments asking where to get the inner tube. I personally couldn't find it at any store. However I found it on amazon and ordered it. While youtube won't let me post the link, all you have to do is search martin wheel 23/850 and there should be only one result. I'm positive it's the exact one he used in the video. Hope this helps.

  • @findingtheroadback criticism? do you know what criticism is? you're a fucking 'tard. Don't reply, it's criticism!

if I upload a video any comments I receive are criticism (my post was criticism). Why post if you're a fucking moron? srsly? want a smack? a big fat smack? i'll know u fuckers out with your little bean bag workouts

  • I just made a medicine ball. Now I want to make this Bulgarian bag. What kind of tire can I use? I went to a auto shop and didn't see this tire. Did he use a motorcycle tube tire??

  • We are trying to find the ultimate user of a Bulgarian Bag. Take the Fitpro / Konkura 'Bulgarian Bag' Challenge at Konkura.com.

There is demo video of exactly what you have to do for the challenge and a leaderboard of the leading scores. Go to Konkura.com to compete (its completely free)

  • YOUR JEANS WHAT'S PROBABLY GAVE U EXTRA WEIGHT...YOU SHOULD'VE TRAINED IN SHORTS INSTEAD

  • @thebooraa I dont recommand any tape at all. I only have tape over the clamps/zip ties now, the rest is bare and i like it better, just grab the rubber and go

  • awesome vid! Thanks for uploading

  • thats awesome. good vid.

  • great video good shit im a make one myself but damm there are some humorous parts in ur vid like the mulch i knew off hand that was gonna be too light and the workout in the parking lot cracked me up when u started jumping up and down like a frog but I am professional so I understand.....but still kinda funny but good shit bro!

  • Now that's real manliness folks. "I ain't payin $300 for some damn bag I can build maself". "I ain't payin $500 for some round trip tickets when I can build a perfectly good plane outta some 2x4's and duct tape." "Ta hell with those doctors. I've got some JD, a bullet, and ma dad's swiss army knife. Who needs an appendectomy" This guy is a real man.

  • so it is mainly for cardio purposes?

  • @keraouc haha, not really, you will get shredded thick slabs of muscle hanging off your body like meat cakes!

  • @Obsidian1392 did you hear or see anything about building muscle in the video? NO! not one word was mentioned about building muscle. This is for conditioning only. I didn't even promote anything. I didn't try to sell anything, I tried to save people money by suggesting a very cheap alternative to other expensive conditioning items. I got "muscles" from doing heavy barbell, dumbbell and bodyweight training with low to moderate reps. This is a great addition to your training if you choose it. thnx

  • @mwich40 calm the heck down. My sound isn't working so I couldn't hear the video. I just wanted to see it in action so I looked up a video on youtube. The time you took your shirt off looked like you were promoting it as a muscle building exercise also I've seen someone else say it is that's why I asked, sheesh

  • @Obsidian1392 i see people promoting conditioning circuits for building muscle all the time, these people are either ignorant or lying

  • Comment removed

  • @Obsidian1392 I hate CLOWNs like you! If your sound wasn't working then why would you speculate on what the video was about, shut the F@(% up next time. "calm the heck down" , you just took a jab at a guy and you didn't have a clue what he was saying or trying to explain in the video. What did you expect??? I can only imagine how much of an arrogant, small pricked, self centered person you are. I dont even know this guy but reading your post made me waste my time to comment on your dumba**.

  • @jjames3469 lol u mad

  • @Obsidian1392 Nah.. Just taking an opportunity to hit the nail on the head.

  • @Obsidian1392 don't worry just his roid rage haha

  • @Obsidian1392 don't worry just his roid rage haha

  • 23X10.50 (1050) inch tube for a 12inch wheel worked for me. Found at a tractor supply store.

  • Strangely, I'm from Bulgaria, but for the first time I hear about such a miracle for classes.

  • unreal ahaha im gonna make one thanks !

  • Awesome, will have to try this....

  • Thanks mate. Built it this evening... 16 kilograms of sand inside. Free punctered tire... total cost: 5$

Excellent complement to my 20Kilos and 12 kilos kettlebell and as it's flexible, makes me suffer much more than my 20kg kettlebell... excellent for explosivity

    THANKS a lot!

  • Great tips! I was wondering if you can type out the size of the auto inner tube you used because it was fuzzy when you zoomed in?

    Thanks!

  • Do you live near an AF base? Great ideas by the way. It`s always nice to see something homemade and functional. Keep up the good work!

  • made one , works like a charm ( heavy charm ) Thanks !

  • thank you , just made mine , turned out even cheaper then I thought ! Thanks for the tips , appreciate it !

  • does this help you burn fat or build muscle? orrrrr both? :D cause im really trying to get rid of my lower body fat, and this training bag looks like it can do some serious progress on the body...

oh and where do they sell the inner tube at. i can't find it anywhere. not even at autozone! :O

  • @ODD50 Hit up your local tire shop. $15 - $25 per tube. I just found this myself, and really like the idea. Enough to make my own this weekend

  • @davids78bronco like "auto zone, or advanced autoparts?" or a bike shop?

  • Thanks for the video. Good info on how to make the equipment as well as exercises. If you cut me in traffic, I'll definitely let you go first.

  • originally saw this video last summer. ive made 4 bags. weve gotten a lot of use out of them. ive checked out your other stuff too. lot of inspiration, thanks man.

  • I had just heard of "bulgarian training bags" tonight on one of my forums. Being a do-it-yourself kind of guy, I applaud your clever adaptation of cheap stuff to do an expensive job.

This looks like a particularly useful training device, non-impactive and yet as intense as you'd like. I'll most likely be doing one of these as well.

  • Certainly can upgrade with nylon straps for the grip. Nice work!

  • nice thanks

  • Thanks for the inspiration. Gonna make me one or 3. Suggestion: weigh the sand/rubber mix and adjust to your liking before closing it up, and theres probably a way to fashion some rope into handles on the sides as well.

  • How many pierogis do you wolf down after a workout like that?

  • its been a while since you made this, but another thought would be to put the rubber bits in first, say 3/4 way full....weigh the bag, and add the necessary sand to get the final weight you want to achieve...

  • I love these bags! i made one about a week or so ago cause i watched a video on it. Been busting it out every day since! I train for MMA fighting and this is gunna be a great one for trainng my BJJ grip and strength for controlling my opponent!

  • Dude, you're a beast. I'm building one of these babies too. Good job.

  • I have made my bulgarian bag, but realized the inner tube was too small, so it got too light! So, I got another from the same size, assembled them togheter nice and tight, and now it rocks!! Thanks for the tips! I have made proper handles too! Thaks again!

  • I'll definitely try this out if I manage to get my hands on inner tube. Sand, duct tape and zip ties are easy to get, luckily. All in all, nice work. By the way, you're a beast.

  • Every woman in that apartment complex sets her clock by his workouts. Great physique. :)

  • @frazetta70 i wish

  • Great job man. I'll make every kid on the wrestling team make one for practice.

  • GREAT video! Many thanks!

  • awesome body! and good tool, thanks for turtorial

  • yay I'm from Bulgaria :D PROUD!

  • NIce!!! Great idea. I've always wanted one as well I'll try to make too just because of it being so pricey.

  • Whoops, you answered the question in the video. Thanks!

  • Hey there. Great video. How much weight would you recommend for someone who isn't already completely ripped? Im just starting to work out and am what you might call weak. Or would I be better off starting somewhere else?

  • i was just about to buy one too for $250+ ! but now ill make one for $20.

  • Just made one. Landrover inner tube, cable ties, black duct tape and builders sand. Weighs 26kgs (57lbs). It is murder but you really know about it. For squats and lifts it is great however for swinging around it is a bit heavy in truth. I would recommend 15 to 20kgs as a good start.

  • Awesome!!!

  • BULGARIA FTW!

  • This is a brilliant idea, this looks like a great workout, im going to try it. Thanks for the content! I like kettle bells as well but the Bulgarian bag is better for some things.

  • we bulgarians used to put those on the donkeys' necks for some reason, never thought u guys use them for training thogh xD

  • how much did it weigh?

  • @FiresJake 42 lbs. It's a bully, it'll throw you around if you're not prepared

  • @mwich40 my wrestling coach has a 57 lbs. bag, and boy do I hate that thing : )

  • i accidentally made mine 45 pounds but i got used to it. great tool made my clinch game for grappling super strong.

  • I'm gonna make one of these tomorrow. I wanted to make one from a canvas sack but the inner tube idea looks vastly superior.

  • this is one great video. thank you very much

  • Awesome!

  • WOW!!!

  • Dude I'm bulgarian and I never hear anything about this sh1t bag or douchebag that manifacture it. Thou your lesson is cool I don't like the cheap tricks that put my nationality in bad light. Guess some f**n smartass that "wannabe rich in a day" did this crap.

  • @gergister So you don't have bulgarian bags in Bulgaria? So what? We don't have portuguese man-o-wars in Portugal neither. Don't worry about it : )

  • Nice. Good ideas.

  • Comment removed

  • wow! man you're a beast!

I also gonna make such a bag! you've just taken the inner tube of a car tire?? how much was it?

  • looks like this will pop-out my fucking shoulder..

  • this is realy good! Just honest training!

  • nice im gonna make one, thanx

  • aheaheh vc é um trashão do caraio mesmo...massa

  • So he just wanted to strip for youtube ? :)

  • badass!

  • Looks great matt , gotta try that .....

  • Great job.....you are supper ripped dude.Do you do crossfit as well?

  • @workoutmanx no, i used to crossfit, but i wouldn't consider myself a"crossfitter"

  • @mwich40 Why don´t you do crossfit anymore? I do crossfit, but sometimes i think it lacks movements from one side to another, like the russian twist. These movements are important for throws. How do you train, whats yout take on my thoughts. BTW, thx for the DIY-Video!

  • awesome thing... Think I will try this out

  • I was looking for home-made kettlebells, but I think I'm gonna go to the hardware store right now and make this. Good video. Any other major exercises you do with the bag?

  • yeah buddy! This is very great and smart idea! thanks you so much!

  • Look more like Matt Hamil

  • could you post a complete detailed list of what you need?

  • Are you kidding i bought mine for like 40 dollars (60BGN) lol 300 dollars for a bag filled with sand :D

  • Bought it for like 60 dollars ( 80 BGN) lol 300 dollars

  • I just wanted to say, I really liked this idea. However, I am new to the exercise, so knew I wouldn't be able to handle anywhere near 50 lbs. What I did was go to my local bike shop and asked for any spent bike tire tubes they had, particularly those from mountain bikes. I made up a bunch of sand filled tubes with rope loops at the ends (held on my the zip ties). I use as many as I want depending on how much weight I want. Some velcro keeps them together in the middle so they act as one.

  • @OMFGWTFBBQLEET Cool idea, but dont you end up, with too big a grip after bounding togheter some of them?

  • Мужик, да ты РУССКИЙ!

  • is this the work out you do?

  • very solid video my man!

  • Awesome. I've never heard of bulgarian training bags. Now I not only know why I need one, but how to make it. Thanks a million!

  • Nice. I have not seen this tool before. Think Ill give it a try.

  • BULGARIA FTW!!!

  • As I am from Germany, can anyone give me an info which size I have to buy in Germany?

  • That is so cool.... where am I gonna get the tube that size?....

  • i finally made myself one (16kg) and it felt heavier than i thought it would be when i swong it. Don't rely to much on it when it comes to swinging and heavy duty jerks, but great for squat jumps, lunges and jogging in the forrest etc. (just how i felt it).

    What you think?

  • how long did it take to make, would it be possible to fill with water?

  • damn your ripped!!

  • BULGARIA FTW!!!

  • Ingeneous!

  • What size tire is used?

  • Hey Matt, You posted this about 9 months ago. How has that bag held up? Is it still usable?

  • Thank you for the video, this type of training is hard, brutal and super effective, and cost nearly nothing. Respect from Hungary!

  • Przepraszam, że po Polsku-Super pomysł,Super patent DZIĘKI WIELKIE

  • When you were doing the overhead swings, could you feel the tube stretching really bad? Also, what about a motorcycle tube with sand? i think it would be hard to find a car tube, since cars haven't used tubes since the 1950s.

  • go to a farm supply store like "Farm and Fleet" or Tractor supply or Fleet Farm. I made my own and saved myself about 255 dollars

  • um... what? All cars use tubes. They're called 'Inner Tubes', the are inside the tire, filled with air. And if they can support a 3000lbs vehicle, 50lbs of sand should be no problem

  • @kawana87

Have you ever changesd a car tire in the last 30 years? What do you drive? A Studabaker? Get with it and don't lie to people. Cars do not have inner tubes. Car tires are tubeless. The tube he is using is not a car tube but from a slow moving farm vehicle which still use tubes. Bicycles, tractors, old cars, offroad motorcycles, atvs, use tubes ... but not cars!

  • ... where do you think the air in the car tires is stored exactly?

  • @kawana87

Between the air and the rim, you idiot! Quit bothering me and go ask any tire guy or mechanic when was the last time he put an inner tube on a car wheel.
