  • Support your hemp growers, especially in Kentucky. Great video.

  • two people living in cave

  • Genius Idea. Hemp Farmers UNITE !

  • @PurelyTruly Government gave us this problem, and government wont' solve it. It's the free market, that will provide us with the most sound, productive, and distribute the wealth to the most in need.

  • @SarionFetecuse fanciful mythology.

  • @circumarc Mythology? What happens when government has broken down? Such as with disasters, people have to voluntary to cooperate and mutually use each other for the benefit, of themselves and the whole of a mutual group. Government distorts human natural, and if you want mythology, look at the government promises. And if voluntarism is false what about medieval Iceland and Ireland? They weren't perfect, but far better than the US.

  • @SarionFetecuse "Government" is just the rules and regulations a community sets for themselves. Your 'volunteerism' is a form of governance. Being against 'government' is like a teenager being against their parents.

The corporations and multinationals sell you your mythology about how oppressive 'government' is. Think about it.

You can be against a FORM of government, but not government altogether. A chore wheel in a commune is 'government'. Rules against pollution are 'gov'.

  • @circumarc I'll believe that, when I don't have have to pay taxes, or go to government schools. I need to think about it? Why don't you think they use words such as market socialism instead of free market capitalism? Because it sounds better?

  • @SarionFetecuse Taxes are a part of living in a group of people. They pay for the infrastructure you use and enjoy every day.

The only people who are against taxes are the uber wealthy and 17 y/o's. And you dont seem very wealthy.

  • @circumarc You're ignorant, infrastructure with an average d- rating? And this system is broke, and it only shafts the poor. But you don't question those things. You're also ignorant you only listen to the people you want to listen to, or learned in your government schools. Like Marx Keynes Lenin Hitler, just basically the socialist that are responsible for the death and poverty of millions. You probably don't even know who Hayek, Mises, Rothbard, Ayn Rand are.

  • @SarionFetecuse Me pointing out the factual lackings of your claims does not make me a 'socialist'. But it does expose your argument as laughably weak.

  • @circumarc So who did build roads? The communists? The kings of Europe? Tell me? I'll tell you people who bought land out of speculation to make a profit, and build off it!

  • @SarionFetecuse Dude, roads are built by the government. You are fucking stoooooooooooooooooooopid.

Who made land a commodity? The wealthy, who still control the world thousands of years later.

  • @circumarc You know what? If you're just going to bullshit, I'm just going to stop talking to idiots like you.

  • @circumarc And did the people enjoy the slaves picking the cotton? Was it the only system to ever exist? It's a good comparison, beccause form of slavery was with force, and do you know what replaced it? Machines created by individuals to make profit IN THE FREE MARKET!

  • @SarionFetecuse The US is not now, or ever has been a 'Free Market". Your arguments are incredibly half-baked.

  • @circumarc Sure, you might have a point a 100% free market, if you're dealing with absolute but in specific cases when the government used to not have enough power to properly carry out an unfree market, like you are so ignorant in history look at the wild west, a lot tamer than. Than what people think it was because there was an almost total lack of government!

  • I'd love to see what happens when that house catches on fire

  • I'm curious if there have been any Hemp Houses that have been built and studied in earthquake zones.

  • That's really interesting! But I wonder how strong those walls are some time (one month or two) after the finishing? Would I be able to leave a mark if I pressed it with a finger? Would it withstand if I hit it e.g., with a shoulder.

  • Look into the 50,000 uses of hemp on google out maybe even just read a book.its proven that hemp can be a viable replacement of many of the products still in corrupted use today.hemp can be, just a small list: food, fuel, building material, clothes, soap, feed for animals, oils, plastics, bullet proof clothing, water resistant material, oil in a natural rubber galvanizing process, the list as I said could go on and on.it could literally help in every social aspect, imagine a plant doing this.

  • this guys been smoking too much bud! slumping....LOL he doesnt know what a slump is. concrete forms bulge at the bottom because of the overall weight of the material with water in it. next strawbale is cellulose just like hemp and dries the same. what an arsehole...... just trying to sell his product.

  • misleading, title is misleading

  • What about fire retardant? wood with lime/cement mixture what ever they use can ignite! My home was insulated with cellulose which has a flame resistant chemical that resists burning for an hour. does this hemp house marerial also have it ?

  • how can you have a "green" revolution without the greenest plant on the earth? -ziggy marley

  • i sure do wish hemp was legal in louisiana cuz we get hurricanes every year alot of homes destroyed... thanks for uploading

  • Industrial Hemp is AMAZING! Why can't all farmers in the U.S. grow it if they choose? WTF

  • I did some looking around and the design firm can be found online at pushahead (sorry, youtube doesn't let me place the full web address). I like how they are moving beyond just green/eco and looking at healthy buildings.

  • that's a lot of water for growing that hemp

  • Woo North Carolina baby. Looking to a better future.

  • I can get them a smokin' interest rate on home loan!

  • Awesome Video! Thanks for the share. :-)

  • Come stop the greed within our local buncombe county government. Thousands of your dollars are being wasted on useless things in the county yet they are cutting support for public access TV URTV making it go away all together. Come to the public hearing on June 15th at 4:30pm at #30 Valley St. in Asheville to voice your outrage at your local elected officials.

  • does anybody know the compressive strength of hempcrete and does it change once it petrifies? And how long does it take to petrify?

  • i thought this plant had know use?

    who now can deny?

one of many...death to traitorous beauracrats......

  • One more thought in terms of carbon footprint (carbon negative). How much gas do you use to turn those 2 mortar mixers all day for a month? Don't forget to factor that in. Not to mention the needs for framing a basically conventional house with studs 16" or 24" O.C. and big headers and beams. I just don't see the advantage here.

Final complaint...the loud mortar mixers going all day would drive me crazy.

  • A properly built straw bale house will not get wet & mold. Any house, be it conventional, straw bale, or hemcrete will have issues if not built properly & allowed to get wet. Bale walls plastered in lime plaster also have the ability to breathe the way you describe here for Hemcrete. That's not an advantage over straw bale construction, it's a shared trait. I'm still interested in hearing a reasonable argument as to why one should choose this over straw bale construction.

  • What do you mean by "Carbon Negative?" Lime still has a carbon footprint. Yes it's better than Portland Cement (not concrete by the way: that's an entirely different comparison because it includes the aggregate) but it still has a footprint. Even with taking in CO2 during curing, it never takes in as much as is used to create the material from raw limestone. The Hemp plant, although fantastic & I'm a fan of it, also needs to be farmed & harvested thus, a carbon footprint.

    more comments to come

  • This seems like a really labor intensive & slow process, & that's coming from a straw bale builder. In all, you've still got a conventionally framed house, lots of plastic forms to move, secure, fill & move again, & a material that takes a lot of mixing, transporting & placement. Based on your video, it took roughly 4 people, 13 DAYS to insulate one side of an already framed building. My crews would have baled this entire house in 10 days.

    More comments in a second...

  • I originally wanted a strawbale home, but I've changed my mind - this definately looks more appealing (hemp is so versatile, even more so now). BTW, zulauk - I don't think fire would be an issue as (not being an expert here) I believe the construction is such that the walls would be fire resistant (perhaps more so than traditional wood frame construction. Meanwhile, I too Love It!!!

  • I love it!

    welcome to the future

  • What if a fire starts... I'm all for the idea but i don't see any chance of escape when waking up to ur hemp house being on fire...

    :\

  • Consider the fact that hemp houses are being built for only $25 a sq installed in an industry where there is a lack of supply. Imagine when the industry is thriving, quality homes will be even more affordable. These hempcrete homes are monolithic structures, meaning the 12 inch wall provides not only an exterior and an interior wall but insulation as well. Hemp houses prove to have superior insulation ratings, no matter the temperature outside, the structure will use the same amount of energy.

  • @musaq119 No way this can be built for $25/sf. Perhaps the material cost would hit that mark, but the amount of labor involved in this is way over $25/SF. Are you talking about the hemcrete only? I expect so since the whole house is still conventionally framed & that won't land you in the $25/SF range.

I'm weary of statements like this for any construction. It exists within the straw bale field too. Quality alt. construction is simply more expensive than comparable conventional right now.

  • People have been building with paper-crete and other similar light weight 'concrete' products for years now. Its a great technology, but this hemp connection is just a gimmick as far as I can tell.

  • Hemp actually is special in several ways: The high silica content in the fibers and hurd binder works with the lime to mineralize, kind of a petrification. A standing bridge in France using this method is reported to be 1,000 years old.

And when it is grown in NC again, the high yield with reduced need for pesticides and herbicides will make it desirable.

  • There are numerous plants already grown in the US that would be just as functional. show me studies that prove that hemp is the best ingredient for paper-crete (what this is), not just off-the-cuff opinions.

  • @resteep doesn't papercrete use concrete aka portland cement?

  • @hempmilk Good point. Does this not rely on that?

  • @resteep no it's just hemp and hydrated lime basically

  • In Canada, before a hemp farming permit is issued, the farmer has to already have a contract for end use of his hemp. Establishing need, methodology and markets beforehand will be necessary here too, for that reason and others.

  • @resteep

1916 Dept of Agriculture Bulletin Number 404: to get 25 tons of of paper grade pulp/hurds in 1 year you would need 10,000 acres for hemp vs. 40,500 acres of wood

Feb. 1938 Popular mechanics runs article called "Billion Dollar Crop" tells why hemp is better than other organic matter

Hemp based plastic was used in the first plastic car in 1941, developed by Henry Ford which was touted as 50% lighter and 10x stronger than steel. Google, "Popular mechanics december 1941".

  • @resteep You're an idiot, do you realize it's illegal to grow, because socialist idiots who call themselves conservatives say you might smoke it and get high.

  • @SarionFetecuse LOL. Right. "Socialists' made pot illegal in America. You are a fucking moron.

  • @circumarc *facepalm* The irony of what you just said, socialism isn't some rhetorical word to describe one group of people. Socialism is FORCE! You're forcing someone not to smoke pot or you are threaten with a fine, jail or death, doesn't matter if that person who wrote that law on a piece of paper was a clown, hitler or mr.towlie! Your lack of critical thinking skills is disturbing, that's why we can't ingest a plant in our bodies! YOU!

  • @SarionFetecuse My apologies. If I had realized you were one of those revisionist tea bagger free market nwo nutjobs i would have ignored you.

  • @circumarc What I am describing is free markets, but the problem with the tea party, they don't actually want a true free market, it can be best summed up as this "tea partier You're mommy and daddy is the government! *wears an US navy shirt* And besides you'd be better able to afford pot, and hemp houses! Because there would be no price setting distorting the market, nore would there be inflation of prices because there would be no monopoly of currency!

  • @circumarc And FDR, was a MAJOR socialist, so was reagan, so was Nixon, and so too was Bush, and no how many of those damn socialist neo-conservatives tell you otherwise!

  • I just realized the Hemp is basically just insulation. Why not use recycled shredded newspaper. This process still kills a lot of trees. Straw set right shouldnt get wet. you dont just leave it out in the weather. The lye thing is interesting though.

  • Interesting you bring up recycled newspapers and saving trees. Recycled paper is touted as environmentally friendly, but contains around 70% virgin tree fibers, as the reused fibers are too short and weak - a mush.

Adding hemp, with its easily accessible cellulose (no dioxin) and long fibers, would enable recycled paper products with no new tree fiber used.

  • @cannabistv Thank you i did not know that aspect. it just seems like people are trying to reinvent the wheel. But i can see advantages.

  • Except that hemp isn't grown in the US. Why not just use just about any other readily available, dried plant matter? I don't buy his off-the-cuff response that hemp is 'just better'. Show me studies, give me proof. As far as i can tell, the hemp connection is just a gimmick.

  • In addition, using old newspaper is actually REDUCING waste, since its a by-product at that point.

I'm not poo-pooing the possibility to grow and use hemp for this and many other application in the states. I'm just saying this particular application is basically a gimmick.

  • @enoughraptor6 hemp is not just an insulator, it’s a high quality fiber material which is essential for most masonry building materials. Also Recycling creates a lot more toxic waste than you think, Newspapers especially creates something like 70% sludge i think. Also this is easier to build that concrete, because you don’t need that much heat and what not.. there are so many added benifits

  • @enoughraptor6 yeah..Id rather cut down our rain forests than grow hemp, why the hell would you want it to absorb Co2 carbons...God Please HELP US!

  • @Fromplefeet man, think about the result if you cut down the rain forest. it will only cause a big disaster man.

  • Isnt this similar to adobe, straw, sod, houses.

  • Awesome work. Hemp is #1 plant on the Earth. I seen a video where they built a warehouse from Hemp. Stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The blocks made from Hemp are 8 times lighter then cement. What a Awesome Plant.

  • Great job guys, have you considerd making pre cast walls and erecting the frame with steel to cut time and cost? It may even be possible to make i beams, girts, columns and truss pearlage from hemp fiber glass to really make the statement, but since no companys make these in mass production, development alone would be more expensive then steel.

  • Cannabis is the 'Wave of the Future' lol.

I'm 100% sure our species would not last to the 22nd century without using industrial hemp and cannabis during the 21st century. Let's get serious about it!

  • I wanna smoke your house!

  • yes the #1 competition of natural resources thats why big bro is against it because there selling all of our natural resources off ! squandering it away, keeping us down and making us rely on them for everything then saying there is no other way ! their LIERS

  • Hemp will thrust humanity into a significant age of prosperity.

  • hemp is the #1 shelter whether its cement or woodlike prouducts or plastic ! its also the #1 food #1 paper #1 fiber #1 fuel #1 medicine

  • and perhaps #1 enemy of the Big Brother...

  • all is great but I'm sick and tired of this carbon footprint propaganda bullshit. I am in the orgnic business and I need more CO2 not less.

By the way isn't hemp going to decay in time?

  • @TheEbonicslover

they are doing their best to get rid of all the seeds. Sadly they cannot go into other countries and stop them from growing it because that will spark war. So hemp is still around. The reason other countries do not utilize it like that is because it is not profitable seeing that the demand for hemp products is low. And also did I hear this guy right? IT SUCKS CO2 OUT of the air? Wow man. I feel sorry for people drinking the damn kool aid.

  • I guess I may not be educated enough about this process but who knows, maybe he had to say some bullshit so they'd let him do it from this evil plant and maybe he got some money out of those government thieving programs. You have to realize these retarded greenies know hemp is good for them but also believe CO2 is bad for the planet LOL

  • @TheEbonicslover Mabe the its less easy to use because its covered in F&#*king stinging spines!

  • can you elaborate?

  • Very cool! I have been doing some research and it sounds to me like Stinging Nettle may be able provide comparable fiber to Hemp. Hemp is great but as long as we have the government suppressing it it makes it more expensive since growing it yourself would be risky.

I may try some experiments with Stinging Nettle similar to this and if it works I will post my findings.

  • Interesting - as I'm sure you know, Cannabis is in the Nettle family. Stinging Nettle grows low to the ground doesn't it? Are there traditional uses of it for fiber?

  • Yes, it grows up like Hemp but not as high I think may depend. It grows wild all over. Yes stinging nettle has been used for fiber, clothe, rope, nets etc. for centuries. Native Americans used it and early settlers used it too until cotton took over. Night be a good way to circumvent the governments suppression of hemp. Also has great food value and medicinal properties. Do a search on "stinging nettle fiber".

  • Sweet

  • As far as i am concerned the goverment has made attempts to erradicate this plant and boon to "man tech". The main reason it was "demonized" was because of patent processes for making paper. So one fat ass rich basturd (hurst) totally dildoed the American Civilization "BigTime" for the pupose of being "potent" and important like the damned pope does. If we grew this plant freely we could have a successful food crop the first try. We cannot do that because then they would have to kill it.

  • It seems to me like Hemp could be used in place of wood like bamboo. Since it is totally non toxic, there is no reason for it to be illegal in any way for anything...... Yet it is and you could spend your entire life in jail for resisting the taboo against it. It could make like good for the poorer classes and would defy the massive centralization and control of resources. It would push back the eteral trend toward centralization, and therefore the ever increasing push toward cruelty/slavery.

  • Indeed, I pointed out on Facebook today that a similar product was used on Pine Ridge back in 2000, before the feds violated a sovereign nation and eradicated Alex Whiteplume's hemp field.. Check out the video on this channel, about this, "Pine Ridge Hemp Project, with John Trudell".

  • never seen it used anywhere on the rez, cept when THE MAN came in n burned it to the ground, damn government

  • yeah i helped build that hemp house,it was alot of fun yet hard work!,pretty amazing! we got to see the fields this year at the Lakota Hemp Days, lots of fun!!!!!

  • hemp! the perfect fiber food and shelter providing plant.

    MAYBE we should USE it.

    ah-ha~!!

  • Makes too much sense for the Powers That Be??

  • Imagine all the jobs this plant can produce for the world. Imagine all the things it can do if used effectively.

  • this history in the making

  • @hempoilsoldier Yes it is. Imagine the possibilities. And EVERYONE do not forget. Hemp is biodegradable. Meaning NO HARM TO THE ENVIRONMENT!!! This is amazing. Think of all the people who can achieve the dream of owning a home if this takes off.

  • there is no "IF" provided we all vote the right humans in

the vote is your stamp to a better life

  • I wanted to vote for Ron Paul. He was the first politician I ever heard speak about hemp. I say IF because there will be a huge battle to get this stuff legal nationwide. The people who have a grip on the American public do not want to let go. They cannot stand the thought of losing their control and wealth. But I will do my best to keep spreading the word of hemp. Crushing the myths people place on it to keep it from helping humanity.

  • incredible...

  • What about making some hemp-tombs for our beloved petrobillionairs? May their rotting soul rest in hemp!!!

  • freakin awesome

    thats the spirit

  • You doing a great job.

  • Hemp is the Future Crop to save the Planet

  • Beautiful ☼

  • I wonder if you can get high just by smoking the house

  • HEMP is KING!!!

  • awesome man keep on fighting the good fight my green thumb brothers!

    viva la hemp

  • You guys doing a terrific job. Wear ear protectors though.

  • the first permitted hemp house in America = one small step for hemp

  • HAHA and truly a very giant leap for America. I just hope that when this plant breaks free from the greedy and sadistic restraints placed on it the greedy and sadistic people will not do their best to control hemp on all levels. IF allowed to be used freely people would start to grow their own fuel for their car and home. Breaking off the crack addiction America has to oil. Need to get back to allowing the people to provide for themselves. Not suck off the Government Bidi. Easy bono :p
