ADG's requirements are higher that rifleman for entry... but both do exactly the same job in the end. Alot of respect goes out to the ADF... in the end when it comes down to it be glad those boys are there on our side.

Im going for ADG on my assessment day...I was going for Rifleman but once I saw the training that ADGies get to do ..I was pretty intrigued and wanted to apply for it..

The main job functions also attracted me and I think I would do well as an ADG...

Yes they are called "CPA" (Air Paratrooper Commandos) but they sure as fuck don't do the same job as the ADG.The job CPA's are doing is closer to what the SAS do.They are the between the equivalent of SAS and Pathfinders.The French use regular Airmen to do the basic Airfield guards.How do I know that?

Most infantry guys i've met are top blokes, its the Driver Transport's and Op Petroleum guys that couldnt pass the assessment for Infantry that rag on everyone else, or they're shitcunts who barely made it though singo.

I'm not army, and i doubt i ever will be, but it doesnt matter what job someone does, they're just as important as you. Just remember, it's the Clerk Receptionist that sits behind that desk all day that files your pay slips ;)

Applying for this position ATM, could some please enlighten me about this position (someone who has actually been there done that). It will be FT for 11 months then only PT. What transfer option are there after the intial 11 month FT period? Does this make it easier to also transfer betweeen the Army Navy RAAF?

Now dont give me any shit here because Iam viewing this on both perspectives. The obvious reason they bag the ADGies is because they're RAAF.... Lets face it, you cant change people's basic perception of the RAAF... '9-5 civvies in blue'.

Personally I dont really like alot of the other musterings in the RAAF (come across as too civvy like minded).

Being an ADG would have to be more challenging than a grunt, because they are the only 'small green patch on the blue flag' as an ex ADG SGT put it.

By defintion they arent ment to "take" an airfield, they are designed and trained for defence not offence. There job is to defend the airfields from enemy attack.

@Crashtruk2 I got in the army thanks and have been so for some time now.. The Adgies have a different basic shooting test from the army. If you can hit a figure 11 target 50% of the time then you have passed the test. In the army, it is based of a set grouping of shots ie. with two hundred millimetres..

@kempaku982 Actually, you're completely wrong. The general RAAF standard is what you described. Which, it coule be argued, is higher than the Army's since the Army only required a grouping practice in the WTSS. At least the RAAF mandates live fire grouping and application (albeit a 50% pass mark). The ADG standard is identical to the Infantry/Cav Scout standard.
