  • wow! wow! wow! wow! wow! what a great jam, like the people that were there at this show, everyone was probably dancing like with fire on their feet.

  • a shame carter had to team up with a dope fiend like dave

  • Uma pena mesmo não tocarem mais essa música e estarem fundindo uma pequena parte dela com "Everyday".Dave está magrinho e tão novo, hahahaha,já improvisava nas letras...a voz e a simpatia não mudaram nada!!!

  • Is there a place where I can buy "#36" for my iPod? I have Everyday, but I like #36 better.

  • Older versions so much better than the later ones. Best version imo is the version of the Warehouse 8 vol. 3.

  • this is my favorite dave song hands down. i cant believe they had to put it with everyday. I still listen to that one though, haha since it comes out on all the new live albums...

  • i bet this concert, WAS SOOOOOOOO AMAZING. im so jealous of anybody who got to go to this.

  • @nomad2894 prime time :)

  • Yes Carter!

  • holy shit, dave looks 20! still has that same god damn amazing voice though

  • I love this song! What ever happen to real music like this?

  • great song reminds me of my Jr. year at Bw sitting out in the quad drinking a big old Beam and Coke out of a burger king cup. watching the pretty panties run!!

  • Ive said it before and ill say it again... You know its old school DMB when Roi is rockin no sunglasses and a baseball cap.

  • john lennon...

  • lol look how young dave looks

  • #36 was a good lover song... i would wait to hear this to get down... come and dance with me... and then boyd.... come on honey... come and dance!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE this song! When you think about it, it makes sense that this song evolved into "Everyday".

When the band was working on the album "Everyday", they were struggling to establish their identity as a mainstream, marketable group. They weren't having "fun" anymore, making music had become their job. The chemistry between them was suffering.

The song "Everyday" represents them bridging the gap between their humble roots in Charlottesville, and their rapidly growing popularity.

  • By re-working #36 into Everyday, they were able to take a great jam that represented who they were in their early days, and make it fit with their new identity in the mainstream.

Plus, they still work parts of #36 into their live performances. Although no one can ever replace Leroi Moore, the chemistry in this group is as good as it has ever been, and I hope they continue to perform for years to come!

  • @aaronmurphy2002 the everyday sessions split the band so badly that it pretty much took the rest of the decade for them to rebuild their relationships completely, with the darkest spots being 2003 and late 2006/early 2007.

  • @mikasa52

Trust me, I'm aware. I wasn't saying that reworking #36 into Everyday fixed the bands problems, only that it bridged the gap between their humble roots and their push into mainstream.

Personally, I would say the band's darkest spots were around the turn of the decade, however. Their inability to complete the "Lillywhite Sessions", as well as the lack of collaboration on "Everyday" marked what I consider to be the low point in the band's chemistry and relationships. Just my $.02

  • #36 became everyday haha

  • Christ, I was very upset after only seeing 15 Dead shows and 7 Phish shows by 95. Dave wasn't a priority back then. That being said I wish I would have.

  • Christ, I was very upset after only seeing 15 Dead shows and 7 Phish shows by 95. Dave wasn't a priority back then.

  • they need to bring this back and forget everyday!

  • sick version.. love when he ssays thats bt then bt takes a solo... now he says honey honey instead of hani hani

  • @pdiddyx123 he still says hani hani...its just the few uninformed people in the crowd that say honey honey. This is a sick version though!!!

  • cant wait for alpine valley 2010

  • at 3:26 does he say, "that's boyd tinsley" ...?

  • yes

  • shit he looks young here.. and weird :|

  • Reminds me of Chris Martin when he was young :P

Still one of my favourite drum solos. Carter is God.

  • amazinggg song... holy shit hes so young here haha

  • this is some great vintag dave... i think h still has hair

  • Love this jam

  • RIP HANI

  • HANIIIII HANIIIII come and dance with me.

  • I'll put Carter up against any drummer technique wise.

  • i caught his drum stick the other night at jones beach

    best moment of my life

  • @smileybone3010 look up dennis chambers on youtube.... you'll see who carter ripped off. (thats kind of harsh, more like followed very closely.)

  • I hate that they killed this song with EVERYDAY. We will never be able to hear it again in this version.

  • I have to agree, this song was much better as a simple jam. Easily adaptable to however they wanted to play it. With whatever drunken lyrics Dave wanted to insert.

A shame it had to be raped into the played out corporate heap it is now.

Much like when an independent radio station gets bought out and turned into a top 40 clap trap.

  • +1 +1 +1 to awesome comment, tic

  • now im agreeing with all fo you. except that you shouldnt call any dave song lame. true fans appreciate the mainstream and his true roots

  • @Disc24095 yes, you will :)

  • best DMV song ever jam out to this everyday

  • miss you roi

  • Dave looks emaciated.

  • Carter is simply THE BEST!

  • dmb will never be the same.

  • This song is actually just the original version of Everyday. They almost put #36 on Crash, but decided not and waited for 5 years tweeked it a little and put it on everyday as everyday as "Everyday". I went to a concert and when they did Everyday they did a long intro and the crowd sung the chorus to #36 over it and it fit over fine

  • if you listen closely you can hear Boyd playing and singing at the same time around the nine minute area... dmb is so badass

  • So this was St. Patty's Day in Chicago if the date is correct? Anybody else see the set at Tower Records earlier that afternoon? Man I'm old.

  • This video is so amazing. They tear that song up. Funny how young they all look. Roi just owned that song.

  • There are only a few times I've seen LeRoi without sunglasses. RIP man you're the MAN!!!

  • just thought this vid needed a fresh comment, amzing song. dave seems to tap into the soul with his music

  • by this time it's honey, he stopped saying hani in like 93

  • they all were babies in this

  • honey honey come and dance with me...i love dmb...LeRoi RIP

  • It's actually Hani Hani

  • It sure sounded like honey honey at some of the countless shows I've been too :-) I can't imagine a show without LeRoi

  • I hear ya. Most of the crowd at shows doesn't know the story of why it's Hani Hani. Click on (more info) at the top right of the video and you'll see. And yes, I saw 4 shows this summer, only one w/out Roi, it was sad!!! Extremely sad!!

  • its not

  • dave changed it to honey in 95

  • My uncle died of cancer a few years ago. Most down to earth guy you could ever meet. He was diagnosed with cancer at age "36". He died at age "41". Both are my favorite songs. I heard everyday / 36 live and I almost bust into tears. Come and dance.

  • goddamn carter :)

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!! I wish they would play again!!!

  • Carter is simply THE BEST!

  • this is so fuckin' old, but long live #36. i wish they would play this song again

  • LeRoi was integral to this song.. so sadly, never again.

  • @citybeer I just went to one of their concerts in July, and they played this song. It was great.

  • I was in west palm last night

    and he played this song.

it was AMAZING! plain & simple.

  • umm, if u mean just the tag then yes, but theyll never play the full version according to the band

  • i LOVE this song

  • Gotta love Carter's fro.

  • I would love to find a flac of this song. I bought "Listener Supported" because this was on it, and I dont like the version they did.

  • the live at red rocks release has it

  • this is more of a bridge into everyday than anything

  • this is better than everyday...

  • He looks so young...

Early DMB is excellant. Hell, all eras of DMB are excellent.

  • thanks 4 posting this clip, carter is one of my favorite drummers....great intro here.

  • I will see DMB live this summer. I have to

  • Not alot of people realize that this wasn't just apart of the "everyday" song, it was a song all by itself. Love it and good post.

  • i completely agree, they ruined the everyday song, this song is amazing as it is and they killed it by turning it into everyday

  • i think everyday is its own song, and this is its own song... they were just genius enough to combine them into an awesome medley.

  • thats just not true. Dave has said himself that the song Everyday evolved from #36, a song he previously didn't think had any substance.

  • i think what they were trying to saying is though it's the same song, they both contain their own substance and style...they can stand alone seperately......

  • "all you need is love" to appreicate both....

  • I love this song! Yes, I'm a guy from the hood in Baltimore who know's real music besides hip hop.

    -George

    229th Army Band

  • im a white kid from the suburbs, and i dont neccassarily think hip hop is crap.... it isnt as good as dmb, jack johnson, phish, and dispatch... but it is still pretty good... besides, jimi hendrix even considered himself to be r&b

  • there's no comparsion between "hip hop/rap" and r&b....even i give r&b their dues (afterall it stands for rock and blues.....git r done son.....props to you george, keep the ear open...there's more older and new if you search.....

  • the old R&B was rock and blues, the shit they put out now is not R&B, the stuff they put on the radio and mtv is pop. maybe a few are good, but I don't like putting the good ones in a category other than good music.

  • umm r&b is rhythm and blues bro but u r right no comparison to rap

  • excuse me....RHYTHM and blues, but whatever you get the point....and i'm more into old stuff then newer anyways, so to DMB2741, what mtv has to offer means shit to me....

  • he finally grew into his ears

  • I am at the beach... hot temps...

  • is there anyone better than dave matthews? i don't think so...

  • nice perm cater

  • lol
