Yes classism and inequality is even a problem for white people but a poor person that happens to have pale skin still has more upward mobility then a dark skinned person in the same class. The poorest neighborhoods are usually predominantly non-white and in those neighborhoods social programs and schools are usually severely underfunded leading to continual poverty and social problems.

Slavery in the new world and the old world were comeplety different. Old world slavery as it existed before the African slave trade started was more akin to indentured servitude, slaves were usually POWs and could actually work their way to freedom and did not have to worry about their family members being sold to away.
Also a guy called Leifir Eiriksson "discovered" America in 1002 but was smart enough to leave after the relations with the natives started going down hill.

Yes classism and inequality is even a problem for white people but a poor person that happens to have pale skin still has more upward mobility then a dark skinned person in the same class. The poorest neighborhoods are usually predominantly non-white and in those neighborhoods social programs and schools are usually severely underfunded leading to continual poverty and social problems.

Slavery in the new world and the old world were comeplety different. Old world slavery as it existed before the African slave trade started was more akin to indentured servitude, slaves were usually POWs and could actually work their way to freedom and did not have to worry about their family members being sold to away.

I don't honor Columbus but why should I act like this wasn't a big deal for Europe. Of course people were hurt, but you all seem to forget about the Native tribe wars going on and how the killed each other for land. Columbus just opened up a way for that to happen on a larger scale.
