I´m brazilian and i´m not pretty good in your language yet, but i liked so much this video. i would like to undertand all words for my opnion.

  • i LOVE this so much. i have watched it oso many times.the narration is stunning. thank you for this wonderful short clip =) a work of art for sure.

  • My name is Jobe :D

  • powerful!

  • I felt it in my soul, my friend linked me to this vid shortly before... Leaving us for another place...

It brings understanding to the condition...

Is life worth living when there is nothing there, or is that the time to hunt for something to hold on to, but what do you do when everything in your grasp... slips away... and it becomes hard to live another day.... Your life.... your mind... your body... your soul... it all.. sinks... into... nothing....

  • Bravo! This video reaches into your soul... it takes us into a grander, sadder perspective. This man has so little he would kill for nothing...sadly awaiting for an end......or a beggining....once more Bravo you mastermind of drama!

  • i miss britfilmlover3... its been so long since he has posted a videe, he was always my favorite to

    good wishes

    robbie

  • its a poem?????//

  • is this an original poem?

  • very good !

  • Lol...That's actually really cool! Very nice production to whom ever made this! -Wisehemlock

  • it doesn't matter how many times I watch it, it still makes me want to cry

  • This is very interesting. cool stop motion too!

  • What does it say, in the beginning of the poem: "My name, my _______ is Jobe."?

This is amazing, btw. I love it. :)

  • Oh, nevermind. It says "dear listener" does it not?

  • "My name, my dear listener, is Jobe" :)

  • My name, My dearer listener.. my name is jobe.

  • My name, my dear listener, is Jobe.

  • Very nice ... added it to my favorites!

  • WOW! Great job on EVERYTHING! The directing, the Narration, the Animation! Booya!

  • Hi can you tell me the name of the song

  • wow, talk about depressing.

but still an awesome video :D

  • "and i know not how my face looks like, there is nothing i have to reflect.."

    - we have nothing to show us what we really are, only mirrors that show us what we have become.

  • this whole story is based on life.we may just be in a cell of some sort, just waiting to get out. nobody knows.

  • Very sad.....

  • Am I a horrible person for thinking this is funny?

  • how can i feel more in common with a 1:42 youtube video than reality? haha. still. my favorite viddy on youtube.

  • dang long arguement LOLZ.

  • no, you didn't discredit your side. i did. learn to keep up.

when i said you focus on individual cases, i meant mentally, not literally.

your paragraphs are hard to read. please, make sure your sentences are relatively complete in the future.. and use periods where necessary.

enjoy your "win" against someone who quit playing over a day ago.

    love,

    Gotaro

  • if you had paid attention, i told you everyone DOES have freedom of choice. just because other limits exist on that freedom doesn't justify exercising more.

by the way, in an argument like this, discrediting your side is the same thing as justifying mine.

IMO, you are focused on individual cases. you feel emotional attachment to the life of whoever you imagine surviving to become happy again. i don't think you understand the consequences of never letting people die.

  • "it's frankly patronising [that] you try to boil it down to that."

i'm sorry that you're losing the argument? seriously, what do you want me to say?

everyone has freedom of choice. your proposal is just one limit on that freedom.

i never attacked your personality, though you are characteristic of your opinions. i can see how you would take it personally.

so i'm bored and very lonely and have no will to continue this discussion..

  • "But I disagree infringing someone's freedom automatically stops you being caring."

that statement is the very foundation of society's moral framework. i can't exactly argue against it, because one can imagine the chaos of never controlling behavior in the name of education (ie: parenting).

well, you said an awful lot, but IMO the only legitimate justification for your argument is, "if i was ever miserable and suicidal, i would want intervention, so i will intervene when others are."

  • i don't understand how you've misinterpreted my discussion of suicide to mean i feel that suicide is the one and only anti-depressant.

here, let me describe to you the fault in your logic. you think you can preach to someone how to live their life and restrict their freedom of choice based on your own morals, which actually in itself probably contradicts your beliefs. you think you are caring, but really you are just being oppressive.

  • "but what about their families and friends who have to live on and what the suicide will do to them?"

oh, yes, that makes perfect sense! let's force someone else to live their own miserable life whether they want to or not, because what about other people's lives?! we have to think about everyone else before we can allow them to grant THEIR wish to end their own unhappiness.

    fail.

the reality is, those considering suicide have to think of their family on their own. it's THEIR decision.

  • and what happens if they never want to live again? then you just caused them even more suffering. there's no reason to leave that up to chance. once they're gone, there will be no more of them to miss what might have been.

  • this was done verry well i like it

  • I loved this. It's amazing.

  • the song is from Michael Nyman. It is on itunes..I forget what the song is called but it is from a soundtrack for the movie "The Piano". (The movie is about a woman who plays the piano, and the piano is taken away from her, so she works slowly to get it back, and eventually falls in love) lol this is not even half of the plot lol. But there you go, its from the movie "The Piano"

  • You. You don't even know what you're saying. Killing yourself? How can you be so damn selfish like that? There are people out there going through so much more shit than you and you're wanting to do this?

  • maybe it's more selfish to keep someone who doesn't want to live alive, I mean no one asked to be born, we're all accidents of nature. I think you can probably see all the way to the other side of the world on your pedastal.

  • what is the song ??? it s from michael nyman but wht is it ???

  • I have been thinking about killing myself for too long and I finally think it is time to end it all. Nothing seems to bring me happiness anymore and the more I try to seek out these things, the more disappointment, doubt, and sadness rule my life. What I thought would have been is not and all I can say now is that I do not care whether I go to heaven or hell, because surely anything must be better than this. I am your friend, your lover, your neighbor, your enemy, and most of all I am you

  • I am a person just like all of you. I have a name just like all of yours, yet nothing seems to bring meaning to it. The precious years of my life which I thought would be filled with possibilities, opportunities, and the love of another have come and gone without warning. Loneliness is all that remains. I have let love pass by me without muttering a word, and I have let friends to be only a dwindling thought left in my mind.

  • a true poem.

  • i really liked that, it was actually really moving which may sound a bit weird seeing as it's a little mannequin doll, but it wasss really moving. well done! not surprised you got featured :D

  • Can someone tell me the name of the person who wrote the lyrics. This is a great video, but I am touched even more by the poem.

  • whoever made this must have some dark thoughts!

  • touching video and a great job! 5*

  • wow i love the guys voice

  • OMG MY NAME IS JOBE!!

  • OMG MY NAME IS JOBE!!

  • All I can say is awesome job, simple yet thought provoking.

  • I liked it. Its a bit like art that makes you wonder what its about and maybe the conclusion we each come to says more about our own perceptions of life, its hopes, dreams, problems, pains, and frustrations than anything the crerator of this short video could possibly convey.

  • spider liked it.............

    spider.

  • I still love this video. It's exactly how panic disorder is. Bleh. Amazing!

  • Tool is what comes to my mind

  • Thts Deep....

  • i agree :)

  • wow.

    that was epic.

  • hi very good animation impresive and incredible ,what s the song thank s ;)

  • Love the voice over - really cool. X

  • Beautiful...

  • a true poem.

  • I got chills when Jobe stroked the paper and then the wooden wall underneath... I was struck by the subtle irony that he was surrounded by words and yet had never been to University to learn to read...of course, not having eyes made it doubly hard to appreciate the wealth of words. What I really found compelling was that Jobe used every sense his little wooden self had available. Loved it! Loved the words you used for the narrative.

  • That's interesting.

  • damn thats awesome....tis super creative, I'm loven it.

  • Why is everyone giving negative points to this dude? His comment was actually constructive and didn't include things like "super creative" pr "Dark but still cool!".

    Christ.

  • he's commenting on the animation even though it doesn't matter.

what matters is the point behind it

  • This video is so uplifting to an absurdist.

  • Dark but still cool!

  • sellinlvl87 is it so much fun to laugh about what many people of this worlt hurts?i think ...you can judge me,if you can...!!!but how mighty are you to judge?dont´t laugh, just try to understand...there´s no emo...there´s just life...and if there is no emotion to the people who feel this way... don´t laugh about them.your deepest side is exactly like the one of the people with the hurts, but you are too...you might think about that...that´s not my task!!!

  • but you just don't understood it I think... This is just so beautifull!!

  • I find this video very comforting, somehow. I have watched it many times, every other day :D

  • feels like real life.., huh

  • Pretty neat, how long did it take you to put this together?

  • I just really puts things into perspective of a true depression. Nobody has it as bad as Jobe, making you feel better about yourself XP!

  • still my favorite video on youtube.

  • Depressing....

  • *sniff* *sniff* pulls out music

  • im going to go cut myself now..

  • wow,, just like real life,,, you have a great mind,,, hope to see more,,soon

  • how many shots did it take you to make this

  • loved it. great idea. the guys voice is perfect, and the music is beautiful. love it.

  • fantastic video. Well done, it was beautiful.

  • Pile of poo! read the newspaper though,it was BRILLIANT!

  • i love this video...

it's art and i like it!!!!

  • what makes it art? the dummy or the newspaper he bought in a shop or the movie which the hole concept has been done over again and again?

  • whole*

its the literature which makes this beautiful, something you clearly have a lot to learn about.

  • ok, but u cant say that this idea is new r something u never seen befor?

ps, this isnt meant 2 be a mean comment but what the point he tryin 2 make?

  • wow...

  • is that the melody from piano?

I love this simple, emotive Motocron!

  • That was great :D

  • this is so brilliant

  • my comment was meant for Youngman055.

dont think i would laugh about this great vid.

  • that was amazing.

    great video.

    :]

  • greay video, jobe i hope you get some money for your (what i would assume to be) a new arm!

  • waste of time in ur life, same as playing gta games

  • lol! ^^

  • dude i totally feel your pain

  • i don't think one should go through life being sad, but learn to appreciate the hard times.

    this video kinda sucked

  • nabakovian. kafka-esque, oh i'm cumming, i'm cumming !

    --

    Sent from my Helio Ocean

  • i thought that was savage.

    nicely done

  • Hum...Deep? I like it, I'm sure it took time, but hasn't the idea (of humanity being inside a prison, not knowing the outside) become a bit of a cliché? Also...if he has been inside this box his whole life, how would we long for more? He wouldn't know. But wonderfully put into action.

Watch this comment be thumbed-down. :D

  • that's not a real person, it's a puppet or something

  • no shit u fucknut!!!

  • NO...WAY...

  • oh BritneySpearsRox

  • its called a mannequin its used for drawing people a mannequin is like what you see in shop windows-a model

  • wo deep

  • I am sorry BFL if I forgot to change the rating before I posted my last comment. How I rated you was not my intend. The rating attached to this one was my rating for your video. Have a great today. Thats for the great work keep it up.

  • hey, my name is george buxey, and i was born with a small right arm (bout 1/4) of the real lengh. and with no dis respect, it doesnt destroy your quality of life. if i had the choice for a replacement arm id turn it down because, you get used to it, like anything, for goodness sake i play the drums (well) which for a person of my physical state is pretty damn good!

  • it's like a display of the human need to look for more than is around him...we all feel trapped and curious about he unknown....very philosophical! It's amazingly great well done! You deserved to be featured!

  • sirheadmaster

how do you speak such sense, where does your insight come from?? you seem to have touched humanity, humility, wisdom. i follow your comments with relish. i occasionally disagree, yet always feel respect for the way you state your case. warm regards, sir headmaster.

    my good wishes

    robbie

    xx

  • I am god.

  • Oh REALLY?

I'm glad I've found you!... There are a few things I've been meaning to talk to you about!...

  • at first, i didnt know exacly what it was about, but once explained, i realized how true this vid is. very interesting, and makes you think.

  • what nyman song is

  • fake. puppets can't speak.

  • *******************************

BritaneySpearsRox, i love your comment. was it just for those who thought the film was recording a real event? hahaha, you tickled me. I have NO idea why anyone would give you thumbsdown.

dtstrain, thank you for your lovely interpretation. as long as we realise that it is YOUR interpretation and not an absolute, just like the writing on Jobe's walls may be msgs, his own internal beliefs or his own interpretation

    ***************************

  • Job is us, the box our world. We've no idea why we're here, if being punished, or what's beyond. He cannot see his reflection - we don't see our own nature, do we have a soul? Job thinks even if nothing it must be better, seemingly a nihilistic take on why we believe. BUT, there are glimpses. The newspaper represents messages & meaning is all around if we notice. Job doesn't notice his reflection when the layers of the world are peeled. Bible's Job was being tested. This Job is failing the test.

  • What was that all about? Can somebody explain it to me?

  • *****

  • isn't that the guy in the elevator that was trapped for 42 hours?

  • Twilight Zoneish and cool

  • Jobe's life is obviously a metaphor for the life of a republican

  • It wouldn't exactly be obvious if you had to mention it.

  • your right that is the box of life for a republican.. but the democrat lives in a box that the Govt put them in the name of security for the trade of liberty.

  • great video, very though out and artistic.

  • is the doll supposed to be jobe? cause if he is, then whats in the info is funny. otherwise its very very sad and i apologize for making light of it :-(

  • freaking good video, it really makes you think/. i really loved it. thou i wishe there was more of it or longer

  • check out my claymation called 'Pot Roast Claymation' it carries a similar somber tone based on the poem by Mark Strand.

  • its kinda depressing but damn thats good work.

  • I liked it. Wish it was longer.

    Any other videos like this?

  • Well done. Enjoyed it.

  • Very Beautiful

  • Beautiful

  • very interesting!

  • excellent film

  • Wonderful!! It was poetic and simple, the best kind of movie ^_^

  • that is what that guy who got locked in the elevator for 41 hours was thinking

  • that reflects life if you ask me, we are all prisoners of the man.. before goverment was invented who told who what to do and how to do it... sometimes people are better off in newspaper rooms with no escape for their own good.. power hungry animals is what the human race is becoming... sweet vid man

  • poor guy, :(, at least he's got something to read.

  • boy you is crazy

  • That was depressing

  • brilliant

  • nice job! I play piano.

  • That was beautiful--it almost made me cry :*-(

  • troubling

  • wow, that's sad, but good job!
