I agree with Ebert, Siskel and a lot of other white critics seem to have a problem with an all black cast of professionals in a film. They definitely would not have had this criticism if it was someone else.
This still is a classic 90's film. Everything from the PM Dawn in the soundtrack, to the red jacket Marcus wears in his first scene. I still remember driving down to the city in the Australian summer of 1992/3 listening to the the LA face soundtrack. Isn't it funny that now in 2011, that the 90's are now retro.
I really did like this one. A classic, as it still works by today's standards. Like a lot of those Jim Carrey star-vehicles. This is one of the more fun featherweights from Murphy. Robin Givens, Hallie Berry, John Witherspoon, Queen Latifa, Martin Lawrence and David Allen Grier all perfect-pitch here. Eartha Kitt does steal her scenes.
A classic romantic comedy on-par with Murphy's "Coming to America." But where's Arsenio Hall?

IMHO I think Boomerang was a genius movie for Eddie. The whole cast was genius too! I loved black movies in the day. Although Siskel is looking at this movie from a social agenda, this movie was a huge for the black community by portraying very strong black professionals. As a person of color (pacific islander), this movie and a few other black movies in the 90s were what inspired me to well in the professional world. So much class and respect. If Siskel were alive today I think he'd agree
Boomerang is a str8 classic! You see the whole rise & fall of a mack daddy. I wish Eddie would get off that "for kids movie high that he's on & get back to making decent movies. & by decent, I don't mean another Beverly Hills Cop movie Hollywood! To be honest, I think the last good Eddie movie was Life.
@wondiefive he has dominated adult movies.Kid films is much more money that's why he went that route. remember he started doing luke warm films. holy man, showtime, metro cop, pluto nash not very good.
