  • Huh, I thought that stuff that was made in China was really well made! :0

  • dude great to see you have a positive outcome. It was a defect in the product. You are right about getting hurt. I have a compressor I bought from costco that was blowing off the regulater know all the time. The last time I had to dodge it from across the garage. Wound up rebuilding the whole switch and manafold. No problems now.

  • I don't like lowes,,, it happens to me when I got my washer pressure there I paid about $69.00 for extra insurance and then 15 days before expire something happen with the $400.00 machine , now they sent me to 2 places but nothing, everything expire and they said "well. too bad" so for that I will never buy there,, I going to Home depot or Harbor freigth tools,,,,,

  • you made a good choice to not buy kobalt toos ever again. They want way to much for cheep tools. They charge as much as craftsman for tools that are the quality of dollar store tools. (granted craftsman is really going downhill fast) But I have not had one kobalt tool I liked. I had a ratcheting screwdriver once. It felt like a toy. I was happy to see it go. oh and the "hassle free warranty" what a joke They asked for the packaging and my drivers license. just a huge hassle

  • more made in china crap

  • that sucks, sorry about your experience, thanks for the info.

  • stay away from the direct drive oilless compressors they are not that good. stick with cast iron pumps that have an oil sump.

  • @conatuslife I agree! I once had the same model here in the video and the piston seal failed. I ripped the pump off and custom installed a 2stage oil compressor on top of the tank. Worked flawless ever since.

  • oil free compressors suck get a oil lubricated on they last way longer

  • Buy a new one and stuff the old one in the Box then tell them merry Xmas MFers

  • I use American cast iron, OIL FILLED, belt driven pumps = No problems for years. MY older compressor has a 30 year old Kellogg American pump on it, still has maximum compression.

By the way, the Kobalt compressors are not made by Lowes, they're made by a company who makes them for many stores.

  • yeah thats chinese pot metal. Thats great they took it back no hassle though. Thats how most products are going. Instead of long lasting quality, we get hit or miss quality (but easy returns).

  • great chinees quality

  • mention the "A" (Attorney) word and or "H.E" (hospital expenses) words and they have to by common sense and law unless they like loosing law suits. Oh by the way almost all air compressors have 10 year warranty from their OEM or store so it surprises me they thought they could get away with it.

  • If you walked in with a cast on your arm and a bandaged hand I guarantee you would have gotten a replacement. Medical bills to a lawyer and you would have gotten taken care of.

  • buy good shit. and keep up the maintence on it. change the oil in the compressor housing

  • uhh....maybe you shouldve bought the extended warrenty

  • Comment removed

  • I bought a 26 gal kobalt & its a POS. Don't buy Kobalt compressors! It leaks from the presure switch & now the manifold. POS

  • fuck Kobalt, Thanx for the review you probably saved me a lot of hassle too.

  • I went to Lowes witht he intention of purchasing some Kobalt hand tools. I thought they were made in the U.S.A. Since everyone gives them so much praises, I thought I'd give it a shot. When I got there, I checked the packages and guess what? All their Kobalt hand tools are made from China. I guess is, all the Kobalt brand is made from China. I walked away because why pay three times as much when I can just go to Harbor Freight and get them for so MUCH cheaper. I feel your pain.

  • you got screwed

  • This is what happens when companies don't stand behind products they sell. A product you sell explodes and you tell the customer "So what". You lose that customer and several thousand potential customers get to hear and see that the products you sell suck. All Lowes has to do is send one e-mail to Kobalt and tell them either make their products better or we are not buying anything from you. Kobalt would be taking steps to improve their product that day.

  • @FarNorthUSA Unless Kobalt is a Lowes subsidiary. I bought a Kobalt tool box one, the tray was too small for the lips inside the box, it would always fall through into the bottom. The one and only Kobalt tool I ever bought or will buy. The most simplistic measurement would make the box fix. Garbage.

  • lowes does not make the compressor kobalt does, doesnt seem like lowes falt. every company has defected parts at one time or another, and if you would do your research you would see that kobalt is gauranteed for life no questions asked. again its not lowes falt its kobalt you need to point the finger at they just sale the kobalt brand at lowes. your just the lucky one who got the lemon. last i checked thats called karma

  • @plumber8484

stick to plumbing and not lawyering, its whoever sold it to you that retains the liability to replace it as long as its within warrenty, outside that it's buyer beware

  • As a replacement I got a 30 Gallon Belt Driven one, no complains on that one at all!

  • @rnctacardon I have the same one, 30 GAL BELT. LUUUUUUUED BY ME

  • LOWES SUCKS im going to Home Depot

  • that was $400!!!

i am going to get one but i don't know what atribuites i should look for?

  • looks like aluminum pump to me? kobalt has an amazing 60 gallon for cheap AND they honor most 20% harbor freight coupons. friend has one (he got it for alot more back 5 years back than what they are now)... best advice is never EVER buy direct drive. ever. unless its like a portable 5 gallon pancake. spend the extra 100$ and get belt drive. once i get home from my trip im gettin a kobalt 60 gallon.

  • @Munky332 waut you mean i can take a 20% off harbor freight coupon to lowes and they will discount it?!?!?!?!

  • @joeyf504327 check your PM. most stores if you give them a call will honor HF coupons (or other coupons), as they want your sale. their sole purpose is to move product. i emailed my wife to call home depot and lowes to see if they would, and home depot would not, but lowes would. so when i get back i'm gettin a belt drive kobalt 60 gallon.

  • next time get a belt drive compressor they seem to last longer.

  • Based on @blueblurr4I's suggestion I emailed Lowes Corporate and the next day the Store Manager called me and asked to me bring the compressor back to the store with the proof of purchase. When I got there they credited my lowes card with the compressor's purchase amount with no hassle! I was able to use that to purchase a new Compressor! I guess I take back what I said to Lowes Customer Service....they do the care about their customers!!!!

  • @blueblurr4I Thanks for you input. I am really disappointed with this product. As suggested I will try to get in touch with Lowes Corporate...maybe they can help. Thanks again!

  • mine blew up also and it too was used lightely I purchased it july 2009 took it back to lowes jan 2011 I still had my receipt and they gave me my money back. sorry to hear about your misfortuine If I were you I would call lowes corporate. these thing are defently cheaply built.
