Brian Francis Connolly -- a true rock n roll hero and good bloke. He didnt always have the shakes, quite easy to have better days than others with his particular problems. In pt 2 he's a lot better in my opinion & still speaks the language of a star, some of his comments about things are superb. That bit were they are sorting out the whos gonna do the station ids quacks me up every time. Many people would give almost anything to see Brian live again, even early 90s circa, hes missed that much
Was this '90? I have the Sweet documentary , where they're talking about this reunion attempt , and Brian sounds like it would mean more to him than anyone , but , he obviously was'nt up to it. They toured the states in '90 , Mick and Steve , with Mel McNulty(Later in "Slade"). It was'nt THEE Sweet , but , it was a great show. Even when Andy came back , twice, it was a good time. Some of these bands and singers are better than others , none can touch the originals. But , we all know that.
This is very sad really. I used to love The Sweet in the 70's, bought all the singles that came out. I didn't even know that they were planning to get back together in 1990, but all I can say is that Ibought a dblCD with them a few months back. My wife saw Brian Connoly's Sweet in the 80's in London. It was marvellous. The whole crowd that was there looking at the show, looked like they came from out of the year 1974...
I agree. It's difficult to relate to an alcoholic, but I believe they let Brian down.
Story tells, that when they at the time in '79, wanted him out of the band, they forced him to sing in a note he couldn't sing, and therefore gave him the sack.
@BOLLOCKS1968 From what I've read, including Steve Priest's self-serving/cover-your-ass book, Brian's bandmates didn't even try to help him escape his demons. They just got out of his way and out of his world--and let him sink.
it's so sad to see brian like this, too bad the people around him all these years couldn't help him kick the booze. he was a wonderful singer with a great band. so much talent and diversity.
its so sad to see brian like this rip brian we will miss you

I was there that day and got my DES boulevard album signed by all 4. The staff at tower records were taking mickey out of poor Brian.
He still went onto to play some gigs as BC Sweet before his untimely death.
I visit his plaque at Breakspear Crem and Chorley wood cemetery regularly to pay my respects to Brian and Mick.
No one could touch The Sweet in the early 70's

A reunion??? I think no.
It's obvious that Andy is the leader and thinking nothing of poor Brian.
Brian had a great voice! It was doomed to succeed because of Andy's reluctance
to start again with Brian.
It's all about the money…

Oh God this brings back painful memories, I met Brian in the Hippodrome this year 1990, and he just looked so ill, bless him

This is sad to watch. Connoly had no voice left to do the reunion, he was shaking, looking terrible. Basicly he was a dying man. R.I.P.

I'm sure that the rest of the band must have seen it as a lost course to get back in business with Brian. He was a wreck at that moment! Poor sod!

They missed their chance - they should have done a HUGE stadium gig supporting The Who in '73, but Brian got beaten up!!
Had they done this, I reckon they'd have stayed in the original line-up longer .What might have been . . eh!
I seriously don't think Andy ever got over it!
